My 2010 Crosstour now has 110k on it... still drives like a dream. My wife's 2014 CRV with 120k is in the same boat. As Scotty says "oil is cheap, engines/transmissions/differentials are expensive"... change your fluids frequently and correctly!
In 2015 dealers were discounting these cars to get them off the lot, My dealer markdown was $7500 from MSRP. I bought the V6 version with all the bells and whistles. I want to thank everyone who turned their noses up on this great car!
Those V6 Honda engines are great. I have a 2007 Honda Accord SE V6. Bought it used in 2012 with 38k miles. Sitting right below 100k now with no issues and it rides and sounds like new. Just needs some new rear bushings though. I'm a Toyota guy, my wife is a Honda girl. So I guess that means our relationship will last forever too.
I got a 2007 Honda Accord SE V6 in mid February with 88k miles on it. It's been a solid car for a college student. But is there any modifications I can do with such a tight budget? If not that's fine but I'm curious thats all.
chief tp there is a good reason for this Love affair. Americans grew up driving mostly in suburban and rural areas. Compared to Asia and Europe where population densities are much heavier, North American consumers could/would drive great distances, mostly for pleasure. It’s a cultural thing; motels, drive in theaters, cruising, “Sunday drives”, etc.... Americans fell in love with their new found freedom, mobility. The automobile became another example of self expression and an extension of freedom. I’m sure many others had this feeling behind the wheel as well.
Scotty, I have been waiting SO LONG for you to say something about the awesome Crosstour. I have a 2014 Crosstour, EX/V6/AWD/Leather/Navigation, and I just Love It!! My previous car was a 2001 Accord with V6/Leather and after 16 years, and many snowy days when I wished for AWD, I finally got a car that has it all. Thank You!
Oh great someone that has one I am considering buying. I have loved these cars for a long time. But small doubts on the timing belt and the dream issue with the oil. Everything else I LOVE!! I do change my oil like clockwork on my vehicles so that may prevent one. But any advice would be great please. Considered the 4 cylinder but like you I want the AWD.
@@ArgChica I would think those 4-cylinder engines would be under-powered for a heavy car like the Crosstour, especially if you get AWD. And if you get a stripped-down Crosstour, my opinion is "what's the point?". The Crosstour was meant to be a beefier Accord, with its V6, AWD, and a few inches higher ground clearance than the Accord. I too, change my oil like clockwork, so I am hoping that overcomes any dilution that the oil suffers. And I also am very willing to shell out the $1,000 cost for a timing belt replacement, when the time comes. Don't scrimp; get the whole package. I don't really care about gas mileage, as I didn't when I bought my V6 Accord, and am extremely happy with the performance the Crosstour provides. It snows where I live, and sometimes wished for AWD when driving my Accord. Now I've got just what I want!
First import I bought is a 2010 Crosstour AWD three years ago and I love it! Handles great in Canadian winters! Excited to hear it’s coming back but mine is still going strong!
@@anthonygarcia7799 I bought a '15 Crosstour EX-L V6, FWD last October and have 99K miles on the clock. This is my 3rd Honda and so far, the best. Make sure that the transmission has had its updates. Happy shopping!
@@johntrough2660 thank you 😊 they sold the honda to someone else . I ended up getting a nissan altima 2008 (used) check engine is off car feels great but for some reason it overheats when I turn the a.c on
I own a 2011 Honda Accord Crosstour and it has big issue with it's engine. There is even a class action suit. The problem comes with their VCM technology which shuts down some cylinders to save fuel but they forgot to stop pumping in the fuel. This made the sparks plugs go foul prematurely especially the sparks plugs on cylinders 3 and 4. Had my engine misfiring half the way from Alabama to Texas. Took a lot of time to figure it out. Changed the spark plugs once and they drive pretty good now. But it would be a good idea to change them every 50,000 miles. Also the braking power is not so great. The Accord Crosstour is made heavy as a bullock with tiny brakes on them, had them warping very fast. But I still love the damn car. It's ride quality is good. Very roomy. I am looking forward for another Crosstour if they are ever releasing one.
I also have a 2008 Honda Odyssey EX-L with 164k miles on it. Recently had timing belt service because it was making rattling noises, found that water pump bearing was going bad...did the whole thing done. We had no idea if the timing belt service was done before that, lucky us! As for VCM, there is a VCM disable module to turn it off by fooling the computer thinking it's not warm enough to turn on the. VCM...it has to be under 160 degrees F coolant temperature. There is still some issues with VCM even after the lawsuits. Honda seems to refuse to disable them because that is famous on fouling spark plugs, destroying engine mounts, etc.
Cylinder 3 in my 2012 Accord V6 sedan began misfiring about 3 weeks after I purchased it from Carmax in May of 2016. I took it to my local Honda service department, which tried to fix the problem by resetting/re-calibrating it with the computer, but after several failed attempts, they decided to replace the cylinder. Thank God for an 8 year/120k mile Honda warranty or I would’ve had to cough up about $2k for that repair!
@Snake Plissken I reached out to Honda And they said the extension was for like 8 years it expired last year. When I asked if they could at least do a free ECU software update. But they said as it's out of warranty that I have pay out of my pocket 😑. So I am right now like I am gonna drive so long as I can fix the problem. If it gets out of hand I'll just move as it probably is not the best idea to spend couple of grand on an 10 year old car.
The biggest issues with honda v6 is the fuel injectors getting stuck open and fouling out the plugs while the engine is off. You gotta replace the fuel injectors when they develope this condition. I used to have a honda engine that fauled plugs every month the best method to keeping this problem down is seafoam gas tank at 1/4 tank this will free up the stuck injectors.
They're bringing the Venza back, but hybrid only (same with the new Sienna), you can't get it any other way but only as a hybrid. The latter of the two used to have gas engines, but now they're hybrid only for '21.
Yup they haven’t been cool since 70. Except the GTO they made in the 2000s was cool. Aside from Oldsmobile, GM cars haven’t been cool since my parents were kids
I always thought the Oldsmobile Toronado was a interesting-cool car with one of the few FWD V8s on the market. While I’m not entirely sure how good they really were, my 10 year old self thought it was a cool machine
Scotty, thank you for your review of this Honda Crosstour. I own a 2014 V6 4wd- love it! One difference between it and the Accord is that the seats are higher off the floor. Big deal for those of us with back injuries.
hood struts... a grand total of about $21 each... rock auto man... funny thing is i replaced a pair on a honda fit and the ones from rock auto were the exact same brand as the factory ones except only about 25% the cost the dealer wanted for parts... about a 2 minute repair. domestic car owners get all to used to big expensive repairs..
I paid $27,000 for my 2012 Crosstour with the 180 hp 4 cylinder engine. Just turned 90,000 miles. Other than replacing the CV shafts at 82,000 miles for $1,500, it is a low maintenance car. Love the car. Up to 32 mpg, tons of space, easily cruises at high speeds and comfortable for all passengers.
I love my 2010 EXCEPT the intrusive VCM. I can feel the transition and see the TAC bounce around. Had Honda dealer check it several times shortly after I purchased it in 2018 and they contacted Honda America. After providing video of TAC it was determined to be normal ops. I paid $70 for a resistor harness on internet that fools temp sensor into thinking car is a few degrees cooler than it is so the VCM doesn’t kick in. Lost about 2mpg but car is much easier to live with.
Just look at the data for the Crosstour, they sold less every year and developed the Civic Hatchback, thats probably why they axed it. I own a 2010 Crosstour, no problems yet, people still ask if its a new car, the design is so sharp!
I love my '11 crosstour. I've had it for 5 years. Still in great shape. I have the exl with the 4wd. I used to take naps in the back seat and I'm a big boy. The back seats are stupid comfortable. I had one vtec solenoid go bad and that's the only problem I've had in 5 years. Amazing cars.
@@romerooo3212 there should be a tag in the engine bay, usually on the hood or on the fan shroud. If it says 2.4L, it's a straight 4 cylinder. If it's a 3.5L, it's a V6.
@@bradlewis117 thank you sir. Going to look at one now a 2010 I believe and hope it's a v6 but he is asking 7k with 130k miles. If it's a 4 i might pass. But I'm fishy about how they run from 6 cylinders all the way down to 4 or 3 cylinders. If you had any problems ?
Scotty isn't a Subaru fan but Subaru owners are very loyal because their Subaru's are reliable as long as they're maintained and aren't moded. I bought my 2019 Forester new last year ( my third Subaru, gave my 2012 to my daughter) AWD, heated seats, keyless entry, push button start and panaramic moon/sun roof with a list price of $30k. Honda and Toyota can't compete. But I do enjoy and watch all Scotty's videos!
I bought a white 2011 Crosstour EX-L V6 4WD with nav in 2015 for $18k with 40k miles, honda pre-owned certified. Tinted the rear brake lights so it matches the flow of the 2nd small rear window and removed Honda logo. People ask what kind of car it is and compliment it all the time. Haven't had to put a penny into it besides for normal maintenance like oil changes/tires and have 110k miles. Love the functionality. Enough room for weekend trips with the wife and I and kiddo and 70 lb German Shephard in the back to walk around with one seat folded down and luggage in the rear.
Thanks for featuring the Honda Crosstour!! I've have a daily driver '14 for 3 yrs now & LOVE IT. V6 2wd LX. 22mpg(87oct gas) combined city /hwy. One nice feature about this car is that when you're on the highway at cruising speed or Economy mode you're only using three of the six cylinders. 300 watt sound stock and just under 300hp.
I have a 2015 V6 and it's a great vehicle. It has push button star, keyless entry, blindspot camera, all these features date on this car back to 2013 Honda was ahead of the curve.
I absolutely LOVE my 2012 Crosstour, and when the 2021 comes out, I am going to take a very serious look at it. When I bought my Crosstour, I did look at the Toyota Venza. What sold me on the Crosstour, is, I am 6'2" tall, and the Venza just didn't have enough room for me to fit into comfortably.
I have a ‘14 Crosstour V6 4wd. I love it! I will keep it as long as I can, maintain it to keep it running great. The seat height is a plus for my back.
Im his neighbor, Scotty has a casino addiction problem I see him betting thousands $$ every weekend. That's why he drives a beatup Toyota Celica. And lives in a one driveway house. Poor guy.
I want to personally thank you for doing this revie.I have been eyeing the Honda Crosstour for the past two years...its has lots of room the body size looks great.
@@samj1185 AWD v6 isnt much different; its FWD 90% of the time and only 10% of the time (when losing traction/need power in rear) it engages the rear axle - I believe this is the reason why it only gets 1mpg worse than the FWD because the AWD is not engaged 24/7 - I think in the AWD crosstours if you disable TC it actually ENGAGES all 4 tires at once at all times because my mpg is noticeably worse when I drive with TC off!
@@kendog0013 great cars but if you look at the manuf. listed specs, the mileage difference is more like 3 mpg between AWD and FWD. The AWD is also about 300 lbs heavier but that shouldn't affect mileage too badly.
I had a 2011 Crosstour 150k miles on it - Loved it so much. The wife made me trade it in for her new Mercedes 😡 She gave me her 2019 Lexus R350... but I’d still rather have my Crosstour.
We leased a new one in 2010, and it was a fine car - definitely underrated. We had a normal Accord after 2012, and it was not quite as solid. The only problem with these is that rearward visibility is horrendous. Also, even with the highest interior trim options, the front-passenger seat had no ability to raise, leaving it in an awkwardly low-to-the-floor position. The cargo area was fairly good, but the subs were definitely a crunch on interior space.
Just got my Honda Crosstour 2011 today. It’s amazing!! Heated seats, back-up cameras, and much more that you wouldn’t expect especially for the year it is. It’s very modern and nice especially in 2023!
@@serenitydimitroth3665 Still have my 2010 AWD EX model. They only problem I had with it was the brake pucks from Honda coming unbonded from the backing plate. Had that happen on 2 of them. Simple fix and don't buy Honda pars to replace them. No oil consumption problem. Comfortable and handles and corners like a sports car. A little harsher ride than the front wheel only model, but I like having the AWD up north.
yeah! I love my 2015 Crosstour. 3.5 Liter. Change the trans fluid every other oil change with Castrol synthetic Trans fluid for Honda. Disabled the VCM thing that turns off cylinders. The car has ridiculous power. Tons of room, rides decent. Has cameras everywhere, backup, blind spot cams. Only problem was the battery. Honda gives you a cheap crappy battery.
I own a 2010 Crosstour EX-L V6 4WD w/Nav, and one without Nav too. Buy a VCMTuner II Advanced. It stops these Earth Dreams/VCM Honda motors from developing that awful shake/vibration. When the VCM kicks on, it causes excess vibration and wear to the Front CV Axles and Transaxle Mounts. By disabling it, you get all your V6 power all the time, and barely lose 1 mpg overall. I haven't had any problems with my 5AT's, but I do Trans flushes every 30-60k miles, rebuilds every 300-500k.
brutal on the mpg, but I must agree that I would much rather take my crosstour on a long road trip over some compact 30mpg+ sedan... smoothest car I've ever owned at highway speeds!
Until you hear a BMWs sound system with subwoofer under the seat stock, my sound system in my 08 Accord EX-L V6 sounds like absolutely TRASH DUDE. ESPECIALLY COMPARED TO MY BMW it's another world in difference
Girlfriend loves her 2010 Crosstour but, at 85k miles, had to get new rings on back 3 cylinders...all VCM V-6s across all models potentially have this problem because the two cylinders that shut down in eco-mode prematurely wear and foul plugs when they start burning oil. It's past the settlement extended warranty but they agreed to cover 70% of the cost because she had documents showing 100% Honda servicing and no Honda mechanic ever noted it was burning oil. If that was a Chevy, it would be scrapped...as it is, the repairs made it run like new and the car overall looks and smells like it's only a couple if years old. There is a by-pass for the VCM system that will save your engine.
I have a 2014 cross tour v6 4x4 ex-l that I got for a steal and honestly this is one of the best cars I have ever driven. Is really surprising these did not sell well.
Hey Scotty, Love your channel, I'm a backyard mechanic and really love working on anything I can get my hands on. I watch almost all of your videos! Unfortunately I live in Northern Minnesota and have to deal with rust on EVERYTHING! I own a 2007 Toyota Tundra that I have babied since I got it from out of state about 6 years ago. Toyota sent me a recall notice about frame issues, where they would either replace the frame, or spray it with a corrosion resistant coating. I spoke with the dealership, and told them that if they weren't going to throughly clean and scrape the frame, I didn't want it done, since it would just encapsulate the existing rust. They said the do scrape it all down, and thouroughly clean it before applying the CRC. Long story short, it's all pealing off and there is a lot of rust under it. Dealership says not their problem, and so does Toyota. I've always taken great care of my truck, and it's frame was I'm great shape before this. What do you think?
@Mountains, rivers and trees Sure have. It works very well. Just figured I would let Toyotas engineers decide what was best. I feel it was the wrong choice...
The Crosstour's are destined to be classics, (in my mind). Admit it: they look good! Looking around for a new(er) cuv-like car all the way into 2020, I'd take a '13, '14, or '15 ct (EXL, AWD, V6, kona with the cream interior) in a heartbeat! -But I'm not picky.
I have a black 2010 Honda CT 4WD EX-L w/Navi. Ive had it almost 3 years now. 🥰 Had 100,000 miles when I bought it....it drives like a dream! 🥰looks brand new inside and out! The best used car I’ve ever purchased! 🥰
2011Honda crosstour (they only came in a v6 ...after 11 the 4 cyl was the base engine and those feel weak . They also don't turn very well as in the u turn radius is horrendous for the size of the car. Our axles got a bad vibration at 85k miles . Maybe because they don't turn well? Exl 18" wheels factory . The blind spot is weird takes some getting used to. They might also have the most buttons ever on a dash ? Still like the car ,the axles are the only problem we ever had with our 2011 .
I don't remember Honda advertising this vehicle much. Didn't know they existed until I saw someone park next to me in one. I remember saying " what the hell is that!" I'm looking to buy a 2011, 2012, now.
I hate those fogged headlight covers. Nice finish on the car. Interior looks good. But, I would walk away for two reasons: headlight covers and rubber timing belt.
I owned this car. 2012 model It only had 2 issues but it was major. 1- the automatic transmission did act funky after like 110k miles. Dispite it was a 2012 2- any slight oil leak will leak strains into the Dynamo. Actually that's how I even knew there was a leak in the first place .Replacing that was not cheap at all. Stay safe guys!!
I love my 2012 Honda Accord that I bought a few months back as a commuter. 2.4L four cylinder that is the last year for port injection. The 2012 model has the 5 speed auto and is the last year before going to cvt. I did a lot of research and felt the 2012 Accord was possibly the best for reliability and longevity. Found my old Accord with only 53k miles. Those who know, know!!!
JC RAY hey JC I bought a Honda Accord Euro 2.4 new in 2012. It has recently been an insurance hail storm write off in Canberra Australia. It had done 170000 kilometres and still went like new. Never an issue. Sad loss. It was a built in Japan and oozed quality
I have a 2015 Xtour. Like it a lot. Mine has 6 speed Automatic w/ paddle shifters. Rides nice. It is an "Accord on Steroids". Biggest complaint I have is the visibility, not good out the rear window.
I had a 2010 Honda Crosstour. Ever have that one car you just kick yourself over and over for trading in? Well, that was the one. Beautiful, inside and out. I loved the spacious interior, the stock stereo system was fabulous. A lot of people didn't know what it was, and Honda didn't market it much. The only issues I ever had with it were the front axle bearings wearing out, where they went inside the transmission. Honda fixed it for free, as it was a certified used car. The brakes warped easily too, since it was so heavy, and the brakes were so small. Ride was plush, handling, I have to disagree with you Scotty. Little sloppy in the twisties. Car had AWD, and towed my boat just fine, even though it was over the tow limit. ( I just towed it a couple miles.) The Crosstour had claws in the snow! I miss this car everyday. I traded it and purchased a Ridgeline, which I like too, but not nearly as much as the Crosstour. So glad they are bringing it back. I'll be getting one!
The ZDX is largely regarded as one of the ugliest vehicles ever made, and I have to agree. It looks like a 2014 Panamera did a power slide into a TLX from around the same time
@@Jaymac720 Not every car is meant for everyone. I had that mindset when it was introduced but after the years passed by the more I liked the odd styling.
Got a 2014 Crosstour in 2016 for a little under $17k with less than 15k miles on it and it had an aftermarket rearview camera (rear mirror style) - dealer was trying to dump it. It has the base v4. Zero problems. It’s at 105k now and NOTHING has been wrong. It still drives as smooth as the day I bought it.
omg So I found your channel while working and made a point to save it...I LOVE your channel! This is the first full video I've watched and it just so happens the Crosstour has been on my radar for years. I drove a '99 Honda Accord 2-door V6 for 10 years and only had the alternator go out...besides that, no problems. So the Crosstour has more room for dogs and such when I finally get rid of this Altima.. yuck! Anyways nice to find your channel and I can't wait to dive in to more video topics!
They saved that vehicle line for their Acura RLX. But I'm also disappointed they haven't released a standard brand instead of only putting it into their luxury brand.
backup cam is on rearview mirror Scotty! Also if you own one of these when you see the ECO light on your dash come on your engine is destroying itself! There is a fix with VCM Muzzler off Ebay...ingenious wire dongle that tricks computer worth every penny..
Just hit 200,000 miles on my 2010 Honda Crosstour. Car runs great just change the spark plugs every 40-50k. Still looking to get at least another 50-100k.
I just purchased a 2010 Honda Crosstour in May of this year, the EX-L model, and it has a backup camera. I love this car! Gas mileage is okay too and fast for a V-6.
Love the videos, the the enthusiasm, and love your knowledge! Keep pushing these videos! You do have a great influence on us all, when deciding to buy a car.
When I was working as an auto broker, we were always getting requests for Crosstour. The best ones are the early 2000 model CRVs imo. The 2004 kept my husband alive in a rollover. The 03 crv kept my two little kids, 8yr old and I safe when we got Tboned at highway speed. The 2017 Subaru Legacy that hit us was toast. The entire front crumple zones crumples and then some!

YEAH GEOFFERY BUILDING NEW KITCHEN CNT AFFORD OUTSIDE N WIFE HOME NOW TO COOK
Its like the toyota venza. Hope they bring those crossovers back
Go see the new 2021 Venzas. Lexus sent me an email a few weeks back about it. They look great!
They're bringing the Venza back, but hybrid only (same with the new Sienna), you can't get it any other way but only as a hybrid. The latter of the two used to have gas engines, but now they're hybrid only for '21.

Hey Scotty,
Love your channel, I'm a backyard mechanic and really love working on anything I can get my hands on.

2014 EX-L 3,5 makes me very happy. good car, can't complain. I drove BMW 325 i, Mercedes 240 diesel but Honda Crosstour is better!
HONDA CROSSTOUR MY CAR 2015 CROSSTOUR YAHOOO
backup cam is on rearview mirror Scotty! Also if you own one of these when you see the ECO light on your dash come on your engine is destroying itself! There is a fix with VCM Muzzler off Ebay...ingenious wire dongle that tricks computer worth every penny..
Finally I’m not first! But runs like a clock. Shifts like a dream and stops on a dime 😀
Just hit 200,000 miles on my 2010 Honda Crosstour. Car runs great just change the spark plugs every 40-50k. Still looking to get at least another 50-100k.
Yup that’s what I do kind of on my 2010 Crosstour I change them every 6 months
2:50 "Big people are comfortable in the back of this car" 😂
Also, both BMW and Mercedes came out with crossover models that have an eerily similar hatchback design as the Crosstour.
I'm watching this in a porta john at work lol
Enjoy the smell
Hope you sanitized your phone afterward lol.
Make sure that you put your phone down before you complete the paperwork! 😂😂😂
That comment was a load of crap.
Government employee eh? I used to take 20 minute potty breaks at the Post Office, lol.
