Bruh watching the guy who I jammed with at District band with a wood block and claves just absolutely go ham on Bass 5 for the freakin Bluecoats was so awesome to watch live and in videos like this. Man has always been super professional while still having fun
What I would give to watch 15 min of sub sectionals from when I marched. Technology is awesome. Kudos ladies and gentleman, a real treat to just watch the process. "I wish there was a way to know you're in the good old days before you've actually left them." - Andy Bernard
Bass drum line HAS to be the most difficult part in any drum corps. I know nothing about the mechanics of this instrument, but it's obvious that you need to be able to intensely focus on the other members in the line and that you don't lose count or you're going to be playing at the wrong time or not playing when you're supposed to. It's amazing what you do!
Late to this but at this level there very able to listen but even if the line is new to each other they can’t listen and it’s a game of placing your notes perfectly with even spacing and really stroking out your 3’s and 4’s
Now that I've been in the GB academy I really understand all the ticks John's looking for lol. I've gained so much awareness of how a section should sound and feel, a big perk of joining the academy :)
Wasn't 100% sure so I didn't put the date in it, but I think it was closer to the end of tour. So maybe end of July/beginning of August. If anyone recognizes the background let us know!
The Bluecoats typically rehearse in Little Rock, AR around Texas tour. This was the first of two visits where we learned the first version of our new closer. This was probably 2-3 days before the first TX show :)
Nah I wish! This is footage John (bass tech) took while teaching. So this is all we got from this day. But we did catch them on tour this summer and made our "A Day With Series" with them! You can check that out here: ruclips.net/video/n2O2KApzkVg/видео.html
Did not read this as bloobies

Love seeing the process of getting it clean!
Yes! Everyone, even at the highest level of the activity, has to practice to get it right.
The sight of well-used practice mallets warms my heart.
Also...universal bass 5 struggle. Stand wobble.
The homies just playing some bass drum trying to get better, love to see it!

Watching this took me back to my days in camp. Missing it so much.
This was so much fun to watch. Thank you Grid Book Percussion and The Bluecoats Bassline. 🙏🙏🙏
I love how the tenors in the background are in time with the met in the beginning.
As an instructor myself watching these rehearsal videos really helps in so many ways!
Yesss! That is one of the reasons we make them! For training purposes for instructors! 🙌
Love how you can hear the tenor line in the backround
Bass 1 was absolutely vibing
