This is the first time I've heard Lady Gaga's original, having watched Putri's cover and reaction to it quite a few times... Lady Gaga definitely has a great voice and is very experienced, but I still prfer Putri's intimate cover... her stripped back cover with just piano (played by herself I believe, but in this case not live...) is more fitting for the theme of the song, the movie version production was a bit over the top for me... also with Gaga, great as her vocal control is, I didn't really believe her the emotion, but the first times I heard Putri I felt emotionally exhausted after it, she really manages to take me to that spot and makes me feel every word she sings... great performer and artist here, also her pacing is perfect and imo better than Gaga's... Let's see. First video is a 30+ old singer singing accompanied by an orchestra/band and montage of scenes from the movie. I like this song and it is powerful song but the scenes from the movie and the backing music somehow distracts the viewer and it did not deliver the full emotional impact of the song as performed by Lady Gaga. Second video is a 14 year old blind girl that stripped the song bare to just vocals and piano (Putri played the piano, pre-recorded before her performance) and a black background. With her angelic voice she was able to deliver a more emotional, gut-wrenching performance than Lady Gaga. Just my two cents. I guess you don't like sappy songs too much. But I think Putri would sound great if she did a cover of Journey's "Don't Stop Believing". She has the vocal range to do it justice.

gaga has a big voice and it is hard for her to contain it, a little overpowered for this track. putri nails it and her delicacy is spot on to make it come across right. But yeah, hard for us metal heads to get with the program. For me it is definitely as a putri fan liking her singing more than the genre.
