The trick for correctly spacing the pencil and pins was genius. I used it immediately. Thanks

Nice marking tool. If you plan to use it on 4x4 lumber, make sure you space the pins apart for the tool to go over the 4x4 to mark a center line. Im going to make me one of these, but picking out the proper hard dark wood around where I live is going to be a challenge. I always told my kids, if you make anything, be sure you use the best material that you can get so it will last generations an can passed down to your grandchildren. An be sure you add the date and your initials on it.

Very beautiful center finder design. Plus as an added bonus, the music made me want to find a dance partner to get up and dance! Thank you so much.

I really like your trick for drill equally on each side of the center line.

I love your idea on how to equally space the side guides.
I don't have a pillar drill, so what I did was use a scrap piece of wood, drill the centre hole through both the piece and the scrap. Insert the drill bit in the centre hole and drill a smaller diameter hole to one side of the centre hole through the scrap wood and the piece. Rotate the scrap and then through the same hole, drill the last hole on the other side, ensuring that the three holes are aligned.

I love this! It reminds me of a line from Star Trek where he talks about "Thinking of space as moving instead of the ship."

Excellent. How easy is it with just a hand drill, a vice, a couple of clamps and a circular saw n hand saw.
