    My husband worked on a dairy farm in N.S. And about 30 years ago I’d help out cleaning after milking, pushing up the feed, getting bales of hay, feeding calves etc. I had 3 little girls and they too got to experience it also. Happy I did when I could. 😊

    Jan hello. Haven't commented for about a year (haven't stopped watching) but have viewed you and your family milk cows has to be 50+ times just don't get tired of it, see something new every time. I always leave your site being so thankful for your families commitment to safety, product quality and herd care. Anytime I hear negative comments about farm animals being exploited for human needs I shake my head and advise they give your site a view and then come back to me with the same opinion. Your respect and concern for the cows welfare is totally evident, not pets but not just cows either. Since my very first view of your site I've never reached for a carton of milk or dairy product without thinking of your farm. Farming (grains, sugar beets and beef cattle) runs in my wife's family in Southwestern Manitoba. Have experienced first hand the commitment they make to their farms and even they comment on the level of commitment a dairy operation requires. Must admit I was born and raised on the Canadian Prairies in a city 10 minutes from the closest farm and until I met my wife had almost zero foot time on a farm. Even before we wed it was just assumed I was available to assist during seeding and harvesting seasons, that's just how it is and 30 years later I remain the beneficiary. Just love getting that call telling me where and when to start making my contribution. The public in Canada have no idea how fortunate they are when it comes to the quality and safety of our food system with the largest part of that responsibility residing with our farmers. Thanks.

      Wow great comment for a city slicker to an on-call farm worker. What a life being on the tractor or other equipment and enjoying the sites, occasional wildlife and while making a extremely valuable contribution to the farm during their busiest seasons. They depend on you as much as the sun that comes up in the morning, to breath new life into their operations and help with their physical and mental relief as a farmer.

    • @cowboyupnow63
      @cowboyupnow63 3 года назад +1

      Dairy farmers aren’t the only hardest working people cause we have to include farmers who grow crop for human consumption. Without them you don’t eat. Plus all the men & women who risk their lives transporting all the food items to the warehouses to get distributed by other men & women. And we must include the ranchers who provide the different meats that you eat throughout the year...

    • @fgoza1985
      @fgoza1985 3 года назад +3

      @@cowboyupnow63 I'm positive that they weren't saying that any farmers were not hard working. The point of what they said is that there's not any other type of farmer that is up and going at 4:30 in the morning and they're doing the same thing every day, 365 days a year. Row crop farmers have down time in the year. Truck drivers don't run every day. You ask most any farmer and they'll tell you that dairy farmers are definitely the hardest working of the farmers. There's a saying, "You can tell a dairy farmer because they've always got bags under their eyes as big as their cows udders"

      As a guy milked, managed cows here in the UK and understands all the milking process, how ADF works, pulsation and vacuum for milking cows, flow rates for the milk cluster removal, etc, etc. There's way more to it than Jan's easy explanation for people on here, believe me. Same as all dairy farming- there's a lot people don't see or understand how the whole complex operation of calving cows, feeding them thro a year, getting them in calf, preventative illnesses or problems- and I could go on for hours lol

    Your nice blue floor though is getting stained, and that flush water looks pretty nasty as it spews out from the valve under the floor.
