Love the box you've given me a lot of ideas for alternative adhesives ; )
Thank you so much.....I'm so happy you like this. If you are looking for good adhesives, my number one choice over anything else is Beacon 3 in 1 glue. And for a spray adhesive it would be 3M Super 77. Happy Crafting :) Hugs...Janie
My husband buys cigar boxes for $2 at a nearby cigar store. We have quite a few and I have messed around with some, but not a very clever crafter. You really gave me some ideas and I love your ideas. That lace was just gorgeous.

I had purchased a lot of 15 cigar boxes of Amazon years ago because I wanted to alter them.....but like you I felt I wasn't a clever crafter and didn't want to waste them. But eventually I started playing around with just adhering pretty papers to a couple of them and eventually I got braver and well I'm pretty pleased but still worry about being perfect. With cigar boxes being so inexpensive there is no reason to not experiment and see what happens....you might be pleasantly surprised :) Hugs...Janie

When you put the double sided adhesive and then the pearl trim, does it cover all the tape? If not, how do you keep the dirt and grime from settling in on those sticky areas over time? Love the legs.. totally cool! And such pretty lace!! xoxo Jen
Jen thank you so much! As for the double sided tape, I have never had any problem with dust. I think when exposed to air for a while it is no longer sticky. I can tell you that I made that box back in August and I just looked it (thanks to your question...lol) and there is no dust on it. But you can always use whatever adhesive you want....I just don't like glue oozing up through the openings. I'm glad you watched it and that was a great question :) Hugs...Janie

I was looking for directions...on whether I needed to sand off...the original box color...and never found any...so imagine my excitement...when I came across your...tutorial...thank you so much...
I usually make angels...for Christmas...but received a bunch of...cigar boxes from a liquor store...so I’ve decided to make...gifts from them instead...
I purchased beautiful fabrics...to cover my boxes with...instead of paper ( mostly because I bought it...before I researched this project)...
Do you have any suggestions...for using the fabric...instead of paper...like you used...???
I already invested in the fabric...so I’d hate not to use it...
My plan was to use it...in the same fashion...as you did with the fabric paper...to make jewelry boxes...
Any suggestions would be...greatly appreciated...
Also am looking forward to...a tutorial on how to cover...the inside of the box...
The inside is as important as...the outside...

Wow you have made my day and I can't thank you enough for such a sweet comment!!! I wish I could just hug you! My suggestion for using fabric would be the same as I did using paper. I"m a big fan of spray adhesive because it gives full coverage without adding too much dampness or wrinkling. You may have a little difficulty with fabric as it's not as stiff as paper....however I used linen paper which is floppier than cardstock but it is still not as floppy as fabric. Now for the inside of the box (and I didn't do the inside of this box) I usually use felt. You can cut the pieces to the size you need and glue them in. Felt gives a nice soft surface. You can use it on all sides or just the bottom. If you just do the bottom you might want to paint the sides first or add paper or fabric. The possibilities are endless.
