Here's a tip you can apply on cdjs (basing from what ive done with the 2000 nexus) or any dj turntable/controller. Fine tune the beat using 1/4 turns only, this lessens the probability of you getting lost between the two tracks and makes beatmatching even more precise. Once you've got a handle on the basics (turning the jog wheel) practice beatmatching without looking at the laptop (for controllers) or the 4bars (for cdjs). Solely rely on your hearing. With this technique you'll master beatmatching in 30mins or less (atleast that's what it took me). Hope ya'll find this helpful!!
1/4 turn of the jog wheel to match the rhythm is not the same with a jog wheel size of 2000 nexus or for example with ddj 400, 1/4 turn of the jog wheel with 2000 nexus will speed up the song more than with ddj 400

Hi Carlo, great video that I will share! How about this practice trick? Switch the software to library view. Track A is playing and you want to bring in track B. First, find the downbeat in B by ear (stop the track right before the downbeat happens, wiggle the jog wheels until you have the exact location). Put a cue point at that location. Hit cue on B to match the downbeats of A, so they align (briefly). Immediately start adjusting B so they match better. If the tracks are too much out of sync, just hit cue again on B to match the next down beat of A. Usually takes only 2 or 3 tries (if the BPMs of tracks aren't completely off).

Lots of DJs would count for 15 seconds and multiply by 4. That wasn't anywhere close to accurate enough for me. I had an actual stop watch and timed everything for exactly one minute and round to the closest whole BPM. Then you could do some rough math in your head and preset your pitch faders. Once you did that, you simply played the song and made adjustments to the tempo while listening in your headphones. When you live mixed, you rode the pitch and the platter if you had a song that varied BPM to keep it in time. Getting the phrasing right was anothing thing entirely, although both beat matching and phrase mixing are related. The rest was practice, practice, practice. With the technology we have today, it's a little easier, and sync makes it seamless. I still prefer to use my BPM readouts as a tool while mixing without using sync unless I'm pulling off a trick that needs it.
I'll also add know your theory. It's One, 2,3,4, Two,2,3,4, Three,2,3,4, Four,2,3,4 & back One,2,3,4 etc in a loop (4/4 time signature). The RED grid in beat grids also highlights this. Concentrate on matching only this 1st hit with the other tracks 1st hit per bar. Everything else is rigid to the 4/4 time & lines up automatically from there (think about drum programming). Counting this as you match also helps. Then phrasing. 8 bar (mainly) or 16 or 32. After 8 bars something usually happens. You could count up to Eight,2,3,4 & know to start your next track totally phrased. Also counting this while manipulating faders, knobs & effects helps. You do everything in perfect time even spinbacks! Together with harmonic mixing it's a grail for perfect mixing on the fly everytime. Where people go wrong is trying to listen to everything & match it all at once & the pitch going up & down constantly. Just zone on that one element.

I use the printed increments on the pitch to get closer & closer to quickly rough out. Then switch to pitch percentage on the display to make finer adjustments (BPM display in Rekordbox though). You can do it all in the display. Half it each time until you get closer in, making two small fine adjustments at a time, so if it's too fast (or slow) you go back only 1 in the corresponding direction. & There you have it. Very quick process. It's about knowing you don't need to go beyond that point, it's already too fast or slow etc each time. Some older tracks as you can see when beatgridding don't keep regular steady tempo. This meant we used to have to adjust the pitch or jog etc in the mix. But you still had to find the optimal pitch to start with. Again with a course pitch you will as well. As you can see modern tracks keep regular tempo & once the pitch is set with good accuracy you can mix & forget. I can't really see why people would need sync with a high pitch accuracy & high BPM display resolution these days anyway & side by side waveforms. Apart from no pitch or very poor pitch on equipment. It can be good if you need the toilet & have to rush back 50 secs to spare though.
Great video . I recently purchased the same controller , DDJ SB3 . But can't afford to get the full serato software right now . The problem with serato dj lite is that it doesn't show up beatgrids . But this technique might help to do beat matching 🙂 . Will try it
This is so usefull becouse sometimes rekordbox or vdj dont mach correctly whit the sync button and if you don Know how to do this you goin to suffer a lot
I'm not an expert but I think once you get good to remember to not look at the screen.... also its much harder on moving turntables so i'd practice on those to really get your skills up fast. also moving one of the tracks slighting out of bpm can help u learn how to quick mix by pushing and pulling the track to manually get the song on the right bpm to match the beats.
Just. Hit. Sync. No just kidding. I used to get training from a friend of mine who used to spin festivals of Hardstyle and Hardcore. He always said: if you touch that sync button 1 time i’ll bust your teeth in. So he tought me how to beatmatch and it went well🔥
@@djcarlo I definetely learned something from your videos such as EQ-ing the next track into the master mix, but i'm not gonna lie, when i first started my whole show excisted with the use of sync. And to begin with that there is nothing wrong, it will even help you to hear if your music is sounding good to mix or if it doesn't. After that follows your video wich tells you how to beatmatch by ear step to step. Love your work and keep it up!
Thanks for these tips! I have a question: Which set-up do you use for filming your vids? Cameras, stands, lighting, recording, software, speakers? Im thinking about making tutorial videos for my classmates and yours look very good :)
Please make a pitch/tempo (?) matching by ear tutorial! I can beatmatch by ear no problem as long as BPM is the same. But if they’re not I have to look at the screen to adjust pitch until it’s acceptable, then I can match beats easily. But i want to be able to operate without looking at the laptop at all.
Great one sir... Hope u reply... Will you make video on mixing 2 different BPM song... I was practicing on Virtual DJ and I mix batter with the same BPM but in case of different BPM I horribly troubled... thanks in advance.
I would say for mixing different bpm songs, use the delay effect, a tiny bit of echo and filter, and in junction or the end of the drop, start turning both knobs, also put a tiny bit of break time on the play button, as it will echo out a bit if you turn delay off once the filter is nearly down :) its a great effect and it sounds like its been made in a studio if you use it right :), Don't overuse this technique though as it does get boring after too much use, so if you are gonna switch genres, keep at the genre for atleast 2-3 songs before using the effect, as with bassy speakers it does haught the mix in the misty fades, but I would say its a helpful technique, carlo made a video on something similar which I recommend you check out :D ruclips.net/video/kFNmbDmRRyg/видео.html (also Nice vid carlo, It helped me out a little bit too :D ) also Hemant just keep going, you will soon learn your controller, I started less than a month ago, and I pretty much know my beatmatching, and from watching videos and reading alot of dj forums, I have found some other cool ways too dj, Just be yourself with it and you will enjoy it even more, also what I like too do is livestream me mixing on twitch.tv and give the link to my family and friends so they can listen and give there thoughts :D
This is great but... What about when you have to beat match a long play list full of songs with different BPMs? If you always take the BPMs of the first song you play as the reference and adjust the next song to it, you will always be playing all songs at the BPMs of the first song you played. Therefore... how do you increase or decrease the BPMs of the following songs so you can adjust it to the real BPMs of each song???
Check out my updated How To Beatmatch guide! That should help you out. This one is a very VERY early video I did, and it didn't take into account many things. Just to help expound on the increase and decrease, what many DJs do is they slowly bring the next song back to their native tempo then guide the next song to the new BPM after. So the BPM could increase or decrease, depending on your next song's native BPM
I mastered the pitch control without the jog wheel in order to beat match also headphones without looking at wave lines.. ... but then again that's back in the day LOL
Takes a bit of practise. It's like a math problem . Example: If car A goes 60mph and car B goes 40mph how fast does Car B have to go in order to catch up and stay equal. Same with pitch control the only difference is you have to rely on your ears to distinguish the distance :) @@G7frs
🔥🔥🔥 NOTHING BUT THE BEST!! Question: after pressing the headphones button to listen to the track music through the headphones, nothing goes through only if you increase the volume in the fader. This was originally not the case at all but out of nowhere this is how it's been ever since. Never drop the controller enough and so a bit confused and just wanted to ask away :-) :-) I pressed the headphones color button and it used to work but now it doesn't and you can never hear nothing unless you raise up the volume from the fader 😳😢😢 any thoughts, suggestions?
If you have heard of Underworld (Karl Hyde and Rick Smith), I would love to see a lesson using some tracks they have. They are one of my FAVES and have some really trancey tracks with fat beats. :D They are most likely well know for Born Slippy, and there is a version called Slow Slippy from Trainspotting 2 which sounds great on playlists. Thoughts?
How do you know which jog wheel to turn though? You start with the deck you introduced the second song with....but then how do you know? I see in the vid you use both sides. Thank you.
DJ Carlo - Awesome series, got me back in to DJing after many (like MANY) years out! Question - the beat map between the 2 horizontal wave forms - is that available in Rekordbox too? Seems like that would be a helpful visual as well. Cant find that setting.
Any tips for beatmatching 100 percent by ear? Im so dependant on the screens and phase meters that its basially impossible to know if i were to beatmatch on say vinyl. Also how do you know which song is faster or slower when throwing in a track? All i hear is trainwreck lol
1,) Let "the 1" of the track to be mixed in play on the 1 of the other track. 2.) Now trainwrecking comes. Hear for the kicks or the snares of both tracks and pitch your new track by a huge chunk up or down (doesn't really depend) Was is better for a short time? Then you know the direction you need (pitch up or down) If it's gone worse, you know you need the opposite. now you do step 1 and 2 adjust the pitch of the new track by a chunk in the now known direction . rinse and repeat.
The DJ equipment companies seem to want us to go towards looking at BPM readout over pitch percentage position. However if they do this they need to instill the accuracy of the bpm display to an extra resolution like in Rekordbox software, on the hardware. Yes you can fine tune from there by ear. But for example 128.49 BPM is much closer than 128.53 BPM to 128.50 BPM displayed on the playing track. Newbies relying on this would see 128.4 BPM still & think it's wrong or there ears are deceiving them, when it's actually the closest. Although I think only showing the coarse pitch in favour of bpm in Rekordbox can also do them a favour to mask those controllers that don't have very good resolution accuracy, while still showing they are in a decent BPM range to manually beat match with a few adjustments here & there. Personally, I'm too grown for that. I want to beatmatch myself but have high pitch accuracy, I want to concentrate on the quality of the blend not listening instead to make adjustments every 16 to 32 bars.
@@djcarlo I still think Rekordbox software needs to display 0.00% pitch resolution in the computer software. Even Pioneer DJ forums have said they've asked the Devs for it in the GUI. It's like using a micrometer to make something precisely but putting your thumb over the other increments while they do work in the background you can't see. Bizarre. & The Rekordbox software on the hardware (CDJ/XDJ) needs to add a better accuracy BPM display. They have the opposite of each other but supposed to be the same software!
You can find them at BPMSupreme.com! It's been a while, so I don't remember the exact songs I trimmed down for these. You can use any house track for practicing bud!
Because relying solely on sync could lead to disaster if the tracks' beat grids aren't properly aligned, or if you play with tracks with swaying BPMs (like older disco stuff). Learning how to beat match first is a great way to ensure you're insured against any technical snafus if you should decide to go the sync route in the future :)
I was just wondering do I need to beat match in every gig I go to or I need to learn this just in case something went wrong? cuz now everything is on the screen as much as it is disturbing to say this but learning it is not an essential nowadays
Of course! This is to master it *fast*. Practicing with similar tempos is how to start things out. Now with varying tempos, learning to run before you crawl won't end well, hence this tutorial to ease you in 😄
hi carlo lovely how you explain beatmatching beatchmatching is a skill i got from many years back i learned it when we didnt have the technology like now ....2 tabletops a djm mixer no screen with fancy waves to see your songs fit all about the hearing and the feeling i can beat match a song in my mix in less than 30 seconds if it is 30 sec i can beatchmatch in far more less than 30 sec and im sure you know what im talking about but i came from cds to dj controller and i than i buyed my denons tabletops and than .......i lost my feeling a bit to beatchmatch because like i told before no fancy screens to trust on damn that whent horribly wrong i couldnt beatmatch annymore like i could before that whas a really hard lesson but with little practice 2 weeks later i had my feeling back in my opinion these days its way more easy to beatchmatch songs because you have accurate bpm where you can trust on i knowed the time i started i had no bpm to read you had to make cue point start playing 2 songs you had to determine by hearing if you had to pitch up or down your song and with the bend buttons beatmatch your song i started than and i didnt even had platter like now just pitch slider and the 2 bend buttons no screens just the hearing and the feeling my point is how many djs have this skill if you take the accurate bpm counter away and the fancy waveform to trust on i say from the 10 modern starting djs let them mix on oldskool setup i bet 3 can beatmatch fast and the 7 other gonna having difficult to have a perfect beatmatch in less than 1 minute or so off course that whas the dinosaur age thats why vinyl mixers are so angry on modern upcoming djs you dont have to put so much afford and skill in it because the technology provide it to you but we all have to accept that technology goes forward and we have to go with it vinyl became cd cd became usb usb became sd card thats evolution from 200 vinyls in 4 crates or boxes we went to 2000 songs on a piece of plastic that is the size of you fingertip lets say 20 years back the years 90s all vinyl just mixing song that whas it now you have mixing, effects and scratches insane if you combine those all in a set like you can thats whats made you a 2 times champion greetings reggy

Keep in mind I also get my tracks from DJ pools. -Do different programs like (Serato) produce better sound? Or is it the fact that I’m using an entry level controller? Would really appreciate your input on this. Gracias DJ Carlo
yeah. different programs have diffence in audio output quallity . i use both serato and virtual dj and i notice that i play the same song but serato has a better sound output quality than virtual dj
How will you know or hear that phase effect if u are switching the bass knobs?? or it is not only apply in bass. i mean will it sound phase in highs and mid? thank you
Hey Carlo, Thanks for the vid! Quick question: What tips do you have for beat matching by ear? For example, I find it hard to tell which track is playing first (and therefore which track I need to slow down). I'm trying to learn this so I don't have to rely on looking at wave-forms so much. Thanks mate, looking forward to your next video!
Headphones, try training the ear by using headphones, what I do is play both songs on my headphones, the song I'm mixing in I have it slightly lower then the other song so I can hear what song is what.. or u can wear one headphone listening to the song your about to mix in and the other ear you're listening to a monitor speaker..
I don't have much to add, other than get a bunch of tracks and practice. A couple weekends ago I mixed all the new stuff I grabbed that week from Beatport with no cue points. I just winged it. You'll just have to figure out what works for your brain. If you can work completely in headphones, that's a huge advantage in my book.It also protects your hearing.

It can be good if you need the toilet & have to rush back 50 secs to spare though.
Thank you for this dj carlo antendido. It helps me listen better to the songs. In total different matter.
Hi dj carlo atendido so very lucky to have you as my online mentor😁
DJ Carlo Atendido owww thank you for noticing me my idol🤩 u dont know how happy i am right now🤣🤣🤣 good luck and more power
Great tip. Never thought about using the same song to beat match.
you're the best dj carlo, iwant to be a dj like you not now but soon after ot my studies.
Thank you!
You're welcome! Hope you learned something new about beat matching!
Great video . I recently purchased the same controller , DDJ SB3 . But can't afford to get the full serato software right now . The problem with serato dj lite is that it doesn't show up beatgrids . But this technique might help to do beat matching 🙂 . Will try it
what’s the best genre of music for a beginner dj to learn to mix/beat match with first?
House. 100% "four on the floor" house music 😄
Thanks dj carlo for the tips I'm your biggest fan.
Please do a Slicer tutorial
This is so usefull becouse sometimes rekordbox or vdj dont mach correctly whit the sync button and if you don Know how to do this you goin to suffer a lot
I'm not an expert but I think once you get good to remember to not look at the screen.... also its much harder on moving turntables so i'd practice on those to really get your skills up fast. also moving one of the tracks slighting out of bpm can help u learn how to quick mix by pushing and pulling the track to manually get the song on the right bpm to match the beats.
Exactly.
Just by ear, without visual help and bpm counter
Nice training routine for a beginner like me! thanks!
Plus using your headphones helps
Mac Joseph set up loops and use cue Button.. easy peasy lol
DJ FiDO yup
Just. Hit.
Before watching, i know it's gonna be great dude!!
Great video... Are you adjusting the beat looking at the screen? How do I know which deck is out of sync and which deck to adjust?
Great . Can you make a video about reading the crowd please? We future Djs should know about these kind of things too. Thats a vital point i guess. :D
I’ll take note of this! Thanks for the suggestion!
@@djcarlo yeah this would be helpful
Great one sir...
Hope u reply...
Will you make video on mixing 2 different BPM song...
I was practicing on Virtual DJ and I mix batter with the same BPM but in case of different BPM I horribly troubled...
thanks in advance.
Don’t use sync button pls 🤭
Maxime Thétiot Yes I'm trying 😎
Just change the tempo manually to match the bpms, just do that and you will always have the bpm on point.
Hey. What will be better:
DJ Hercules Jogvision or...
Pioneer DJ ddj-rb ?
It will be very helpful to answer this question!
DJ Carlo Atendido thank u very mutch. I have a second question. This program which is use for RB is better than serato?
DJ Carlo Atendido And I love your Channel!
This is sick! 👍
Thanks dude! Hope you learned how to beatmatch!
Yaaaay thank you for this idol, youre the best haha, been waiting for this 😁😁😁.
dj'ing for 2 weeks and killing it thanks to you and others simplifying tips Nd tricks for me
Yay! That's so nice to hear! Good luck on your journey!
Thank you boss its helpful
You're welcome Partha! Glad you learned something new from the video!
S i listen your many videos your explanation very neat and i learn from you, very helpful to me. Thank you very much ...
Do have any tips ?
I'm struggling to learn how to beat match two songs with different speed , relying on my ears only , no screen.
Takes a bit of practise. It's like a math problem . Example: If car A goes 60mph and car B goes 40mph how fast does Car B have to go in order to catch up and stay equal. Same with pitch control the only difference is you have to rely on your ears to distinguish the distance :) @@G7frs
Woah! That's such an awesome skill to have!
Use the same track and practice with that :)
This is why I don't drive lol
Big fan sir. Keep it up.
thank u good sir!have a great weekend!
🔥🔥🔥 NOTHING BUT THE BEST!! Question: after pressing the headphones button to listen to the track music through the headphones, nothing goes through only if you increase the volume in the fader. This was originally not the case at all but out of nowhere this is how it's been ever since. Never drop the controller enough and so a bit confused and just wanted to ask away :-) :-)
I pressed the headphones color button and it used to work but now it doesn't and you can never hear nothing unless you raise up the volume from the fader 😳😢😢 any thoughts, suggestions?
Oh! Check your mix/cue knob! That's usually the culprit. It may have gone all the way to mix, so you only hear what's coming out of the master
@@djcarlo thank you my bro 🥰🥰🥰🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃
What do you mean by we will hear a “phase effect” in our ear? What exactly is a phase effect? I’m confused
It's similar to the flanger. Check out my new guide to Beat Matching from a couple of weeks ago. I put an example there
If you have heard of Underworld (Karl Hyde and Rick Smith), I would love to see a lesson using some tracks they have. They are one of my FAVES and have some really trancey tracks with fat beats. :D They are most likely well know for Born Slippy, and there is a version called Slow Slippy from Trainspotting 2 which sounds great on playlists. Thoughts?
Oh man. Check them out. Look up Underworld Live album Barbara Barbara Bristol UK 2016 on RUclips. Awesome stuff!
Will buy the ddj 4000
How do you know which jog wheel to turn though? You start with the deck you introduced the second song with....but then how do you know? I see in the vid you use both sides. Thank you.
You adjust the one that's not playing so it doesn't disturb the music that's playing to the crowd. Doing so might cause the song to jump
@@djcarlo haha makes sense thanks Carlo!
DJ Carlo - Awesome series, got me back in to DJing after many (like MANY) years out! Question - the beat map between the 2 horizontal wave forms - is that available in Rekordbox too? Seems like that would be a helpful visual as well. Cant find that setting.
Great Carlo this is also must part in Dj thanks🤘
Any tips for beatmatching 100 percent by ear? Im so dependant on the screens and phase meters that its basially impossible to know if i were to beatmatch on say vinyl. Also how do you know which song is faster or slower when throwing in a track? All i hear is trainwreck lol
Eli Schoen i like that. Good idea
1,) Let "the 1" of the track to be mixed in play on the 1 of the other track.
2.) Now trainwrecking comes. Hear for the kicks or the snares of both tracks and pitch your new track by a huge chunk up or down (doesn't really depend)
Was is better for a short time?
Then you know the direction you need (pitch up or down)
If it's gone worse, you know you need the opposite.
now you do step 1 and 2 adjust the pitch of the new track by a chunk in the now known direction .
rinse and repeat.
Hopefully that's their next step in fine tuning their programs Ashley!
Another helpful video 👋👋
I cant find the download for the song used here? Where is it?
You can find them at BPMSupreme.com! It's been a while, so I don't remember the exact songs I trimmed down for these. You can use any house track for practicing bud!
If half of these djs used vynil before they did this. They would have no problems
Hey man, can you show us what software you use for editing music and how to use it? And where or how do you get extended tracks from?
Brand new DJ in training here, can someone explain to me why you wouldnt just use the sync button? Or am i missing something?
Because relying solely on sync could lead to disaster if the tracks' beat grids aren't properly aligned, or if you play with tracks with swaying BPMs (like older disco stuff). Learning how to beat match first is a great way to ensure you're insured against any technical snafus if you should decide to go the sync route in the future :)
I was just wondering do I need to beat match in every gig I go to or I need to learn this just in case something went wrong? cuz now everything is on the screen as much as it is disturbing to say this but learning it is not an essential nowadays
Thanks for the insights keep it love
Ddj sb3 dope controller .... Ready for dat 400 get into some Rekoord box
need to show us on CDJ's, controllers are easy when it comes to beat matching
wtf they're the same LOL
Hahahaha! Yeah bro! Thanks for watching!
So how many verses do I leave in between the 2 rolling songs while they're synchronized?
It really depends on how long you want to keep the song playing! If your crowd is enjoying it, go longer!
I didn't see the download link for rhythm!
Now try with tracks of DIFFERENT tempos where you'll need to adjust the tempo slider to lock in the tempo change. It's easy with the SAME track.
Of course! This is to master it *fast*. Practicing with similar tempos is how to start things out. Now with varying tempos, learning to run before you crawl won't end well, hence this tutorial to ease you in 😄
Using a controller without visual is shocking so hard, I had a session with my teacher yesterday and I couldn't get it right :'(
Oh no! Hope you'll get it right soon! Wish you all the best!
I did it for the first time with my mouse only.
hello Carlo
when beat matching, which way to you turn the jog wheel first, forward/backwards ?
hi carlo lovely how you explain beatmatching beatchmatching is a skill i got from many years back i learned it when we didnt have the technology like now ....2 tabletops a djm mixer no screen with fancy waves to see your songs fit all about the hearing and the feeling i can beat match a song in my mix in less than 30 seconds if it is 30 sec i can beatchmatch in far more less than 30 sec and im sure you know what im talking about but i came from cds to dj controller and i than i buyed my denons tabletops and than .......i lost my feeling a bit to beatchmatch because like i told before no fancy screens to trust on damn that whent horribly wrong i couldnt beatmatch annymore like i could before that whas a really hard lesson but with little practice 2 weeks later i had my feeling back in my opinion these days its way more easy to beatchmatch songs because you have accurate bpm where you can trust on i knowed the time i started i had no bpm to read you had to make cue point start playing 2 songs you had to determine by hearing if you had to pitch up or down your song and with the bend buttons beatmatch your song i started than and i didnt even had platter like now just pitch slider and the 2 bend buttons no screens just the hearing and the feeling my point is how many djs have this skill if you take the accurate bpm counter away and the fancy waveform to trust on i say from the 10 modern starting djs let them mix on oldskool setup i bet 3 can beatmatch fast and the 7 other gonna having difficult to have a perfect beatmatch in less than 1 minute or so off course that whas the dinosaur age thats why vinyl mixers are so angry on modern upcoming djs you dont have to put so much afford and skill in it because the technology provide it to you but we all have to accept that technology goes forward and we have to go with it vinyl became cd cd became usb usb became sd card thats evolution from 200 vinyls in 4 crates or boxes we went to 2000 songs on a piece of plastic that is the size of you fingertip lets say 20 years back the years 90s all vinyl just mixing song that whas it now you have mixing, effects and scratches insane if you combine those all in a set like you can thats whats made you a 2 times champion greetings reggy
Hey man... you are amazing... I love watching your videos and learning your ways... about some latin beats mixing? Like salsa, merengue, bachata... transition mixes or so from one rhythm to another blending in just the way you do... 😉🎶🎉🥂 you are the best man. Thanks
Hi Carlo! My BPM changes while playing the song. For example from 135.5 to 135.7. So it's hard to beatmatch. Do you know how to solve this?
That's strange! Are you using control vinyl? What software are you using?
@@djcarlo I use rekordbox and ddj200. I don’t use control vinyl. I’m a beginner
That's really odd! They shouldn't be changing bpms like that
@@djcarlo each part of the song has a slightly different bpm. however, the difference is very small. Is there perhaps some setting that I have wrong? or something with the grid that I have to fix?
Thanks for the tips DJ Carlo. Gotta question for you, I’m currently using algoriddim’s Djay w a controller, but when I hear mixes by other djs on turn tables using Serato, the sound is much much better. Keep in mind I also get my tracks from DJ pools. -Do different programs like (Serato) produce better sound? Or is it the fact that I’m using an entry level controller? Would really appreciate your input on this. Gracias DJ Carlo
Eli Schoen ...makes sense, appreciate the info brother!
yeah. different programs have diffence in audio output quallity . i use both serato and virtual dj and i notice that i play the same song but serato has a better sound output quality than virtual dj
Dj TR thx for the info brother, I’ll b acquiring the new SX3 soon.. can’t wait to enjoy the difference. Thank you.
U r genius sir
I guess I'm stupid; I don't see what the magical technique is. Is it to beatmatch the same song?
But like how do you know of you need to go right or left?
What about when you manage to get the beats the same speed but then the part of the song you're at doesn't match well for transition?
How will you know or hear that phase effect if u are switching the bass knobs?? or it is not only apply in bass. i mean will it sound phase in highs and mid? thank you
is it possible to hear the phasing on headphones?
Hey Carlo, Thanks for the vid! Quick question: What tips do you have for beat matching by ear? For example, I find it hard to tell which track is playing first (and therefore which track I need to slow down). I'm trying to learn this so I don't have to rely on looking at wave-forms so much. Thanks mate, looking forward to your next video!
thanks man, will do!
Headphones, try training the ear by using headphones, what I do is play both songs on my headphones, the song I'm mixing in I have it slightly lower then the other song so I can hear what song is what.. or u can wear one headphone listening to the song your about to mix in and the other ear you're listening to a monitor speaker..
thanks for the tips mate! Appreciate it!
James De Lambert hope it made sense
I don't have much to add, other than get a bunch of tracks and practice. A couple weekends ago I mixed all the new stuff I grabbed that week from Beatport with no cue points. I just winged it. You'll just have to figure out what works for your brain. If you can work completely in headphones, that's a huge advantage in my book.It also protects your hearing.
Thanks to you I'm a better DJ
thanks bro. a question for you, which controller would you advise me to buy either pioneer ddj sr or pioneer cdj 400?
Okay, Thanks bro.
