What fun!! I'm curious how many people can quote ( or describe ) the rule Ben admitted to violating (on hole 9, not 8). I think it's fair to say it's pretty obscure.. because it almost never happens during TV matches (maybe never on TV?). I learned it as a young pup when I trained to be a caddy. My Dad, who taught me to golf, didn't know the rule.
@Ben your approach shot was between 189.22-191.77 yards on hole 10. Simple math shows that you hit this shot 198 yards, but this does not take in account of the angle your ball is relative from where you hit it from. So looking closer and calculating the angle from point A (where you hit the approach shot), to point B (the flag), to point C (where you hit the putt from) that angle looks to be somewhere between 120-130 degrees. With that estimate we can use math to discover you pushed the ball approximately 4.35-4.99 degrees. (Please note this number is not equivalent to club face angle at impact). This creates the hypotenuse or total length of shot to be anywhere between 189.22 - 191.77 yards.

Not very fond of this kind of matchplay where the other plays almost a 2000 meters shorter course. Thats over 100m per hole and even if Ben is hitting it miles in compared to Gabby, those green tees are too short for her imho.
Yeah but she was playing a male professional and wasn't given strokes. Just did that to level the playing field I believe. Haha I didn't think it was going to be enough for Gabby, but apparently it was.
yeah, I am 65 and play mostly around 5800 to 6000 meters. You can add like 10% to get the yards. Some of the long par 4:s are hard but I still enjoy it.

5280 yards is way too short for Gabby. She needs to be near 6000 yards. I am 59 years old and I played over 6600 yards today.
