      This has been a popular video for sure. I knew it would be helpful. We moved up to the 6x8 in 2019. We got the first fiberglass version. We actually sold it a couple of months ago and just recently finished converting a 2018 Ford transit into a camper van. We loved our runaways, but we decided to go with a bigger unit that was self contain. We are still good friends with the owners and even attend Runaway rallies. Turning them into fiberglass composite units is the best improvement they have made. The other ones are also nice, but the new ones have zero wood in them and that is a great new feature. You can watch our van build on this channel as well. It was a lot of fun and we learned a lot as well. Thanks for watching.

    Thanks for making these videos. I am a 51 year old widower who enjoys backpacking and camping but have been looking at small trailers which would be good and easy to use for myself and my dog. I think you should have a "deluxe" version with outdoor coleman stove and table built into side as well as an outdoor shower.

    • @charlesmoman
      @charlesmoman  5 лет назад +2

      I am not part of the Runaway Campers company, so I would not have any say on that. They are wisely, keeping it simple. A few options are available (including the Road Shower btw, awnings, decal colors, cubbies, roof racks), and that keeps production manageable. Those options do not affect the daily build process of many campers per day - I have watched many being made in the factory and they have their system down. When you start adding in many options that require different CNC routed side panels, wiring may change, etc. etc, then their production line would be daily disrupted. Instead, Runaway owners decide for themselves and add what they want, in their own way. If you look at amy of my modifications videos., you will see how much folks enjoy "making it their own". Really. So all of that to say - we each make our own Runaway our own "deluxe" version! Take care.

We went from tenting to the trailer. I skipped that pop up kind ppl usually get. Now they probably do because less wind resistance, better fuel economy. I wish we had of gone 25feet with one slide. I know I don't like the 5th wheel. And not a fan of the built in drive area, the bed seems to be up high. We have a lot of gadgets and comforts. He cruises for me, and I go camping for him. I like the trailer. Happy camping.

      We enjoyed our 6x8, but we will likely not camp in it anymore since we are doing the van conversion. Our grandkids like sleeping in it in the back yard and we might take it to a nearby state park for a short camping trip with a couple of them. They get the Runaway and we will be in the Transit. Runaways are great, but we decided we wanted more room and convenience. My Runaway videos continue to help bring in new Runaway owners and that makes me happy! Be safe - check the air pressure of the spare tire - easy to overlook - we did that and found it crazy low. And have the right wrench size to release the spare.

    Am considering to buy a runaway camper in the future. Since I am 6 ft tall and large frame ( 260 lbs ). I haven’t decided which size yet ha but I might get a big dog like German shepherd for a reason cuz I am deaf. So the dog can be my alert if we are inside by hearing things outside. Or I can add mini security cams on all sides with a small tablet. I have many options to think 🤔 ha. Wonder why they didn’t make 5x8 ? It would be perfect for me cuz it the middle between those two current models. I don’t care about the back kitchen like the teardrops but I love outdoor cooking on fire or butane stove. Still simple lol. Thanks and I do enjoy your videos!!

    I'm still trying to decide which one to buy. One aspect of the 4x8 versus the 6x8 (for me, at least) will be the lane clearance for driving. I have yet to see a video including scenes of interstate lanes, and how well the 6x8 squeezes into that space. Ideally, I'd get the Rangerunner. Because it'd be me, and my 6-foot tall son, traveling in it. But the lane clearance is a concern.

    • @charlesmoman
      @charlesmoman  5 лет назад +1

      I know many RangeRunner owners - and clearance is not an issue at all. If huge semi and Class A motorhomes fit in highway lanes, then a 6-foot wide camper trailer will fit very easily. Nothing to worry about on that issue. Check this video of mine - it may help you - ruclips.net/video/bwYtDDk810g/видео.html

      I have moved a RangeRunner in a garage and it was noticeably heavier, but I could move it. It would, for sure, be harder to move at a campsite, but many do it fine. Some use a a camper trailer dolly - look at etrailer.com or Amazon. It helps a lot if you learn to back it up well and then you can get it right on the campsite where you want it. It just takes some practice and slow movements. The two of us could move it by hand at most campsites.

    I'm wondering about the corner edges of these campers. I live in the Pacific NorthWet, and have experienced real tragedy with the corner covering on my last RV. The corner coverings on the Runaway Campers looks different. It looks like it's just an angled piece of something or other with no screws or nails. What kind of corner piece is it? Personally, I would not want to tow a tall box of any kind, but it is great for folks who might have mobility issues, but still want something simple. I like low and sleek! : )

    I know many don't talk about t, but I am curious about the axle flip that sets the awning up a little higher. How much did it increase the height? Is there a difference in handling? It doesn't look like a difficult project but the clearance seems to be worth it.

    • @charlesmoman
      @charlesmoman  5 лет назад

      I would say it added about three inches and makes no difference in handling whatsoever. And my ARV awning room hangs better.

    cute little trailer... my considerations are the price and the towing weight since I have a small vehicle. I also must consider my size since i'm 6'4" tall and am really worried I may not be able to fit in this type of trailer comfortably. do you have any suggestions on that concern?

    • @charlesmoman
      @charlesmoman  5 лет назад

      tonyringtail The RangeRunner can hold a queen size mattress - I assume you would fit on that. The CoolCamp would work too, if you did not put in the cubbies and made your own shelving system. I know people your height have a Runaway. Call Daniel at Runaway sales and I think he will reassure you about that. We love our Runaway! Could you tell? 🙂

    • @tonyringtail
      @tonyringtail 5 лет назад

      I was thinking about the rangerunner myself since it's still affordable and you have more room for company and storage.. i'm really concerned moreso about sitting up and not hitting my head. I have seen some people have the beds raised and I realize that would reduce headroom but being so tall I have to consider all issues.@@charlesmoman

    Do these have any problems with sweating or condensation?

    • @charlesmoman
      @charlesmoman  4 года назад

      Any and all RVs can have problems with condensation. All of them. Air flow and movement are what is needed. We ALWAYS have a window cracked a little to allow air flow, if we do not have the AC on. If the AC is not one - we always run a small dehumidifier and it works great. Many use a bucket or bag of DampRid and that works great too. Especially with small confined campers like teardrops, Runaways, NuCamps, etc. are all little boxes and condensation will build up if you do not have a vent fan running ora window cracked open a little.

      That is what we used initially, but in our new 2020 rebuilt a bed platform and had custom cushions made. Many buy foam mattresses from Amazon and cut them down to fit. Lots of choices out there, Check out the new 2020 Runaway videos I have here on my channel.
