Clutch install on my 1987 Suzuki lt230s quadsport

This is a ATV I was given by a friend that had no idea what was wrong with it or what there kids did to it so now I'm going to turn it into a "project" find out what's wrong with it and fix it.

Just got an 86 from my boss. Ran when parked in a barn 10 years ago. Cleaned carb and rebuilt, new plug and oil change. Great spark and compression but can't get it to start yet. Checked the valve lash and it's within spec. Im starting to pull the head off and check the jug while at it. Thanks for the information because I couldn't find much online.

my ATV is a 1986 not 87 it starts but goes like 1 mph on flat ground and just doesn't want to move. do you have any ideas on what it is

Yours is the automatic clutch yea ? Ok its prob the centrifugal clutch is gone bad has to a centrifical and a primary

Your clutch is prob.slipping , high hrs use & automotive oil are murder on the clutch. If the spinning outer basket of auto clutch is super slippery smooth from years of rubbing against the clutch arms, you can get a stone bit on a cordless drill & redo the surface where the arms grab the outer basket.its a crude way to get it gripping again, but I did it to get a machine to go for a bit longer( this isn't fixing worn parts,it's squeezing the last nickel out of them)

I was wondering if you could upload a video of replacing your air filter. The reason is that I bought a quad exactly like your but it didn't come with a air filter. I want to buy it one but I don't know how they look like.

Mine is a 92 runs great the automatic clutch is starting to slip in high gear into the power ... My elderly father keeps taking off in 2nd & trying to climb hills his hard headed ass lol ... I just put one in my honda 3 wheeler if this get worse I'll tackle it .. I also put that nibbi racing carb on mine seems to have a decent power increase

Your also going to need a
"OEM clutch cover gasket"

If it runs but doesn't move then its most likely your clutch buddy but it could also be your piston rings if your clutch is grabbing but acts like it doesn't want to move
