Both the S&M and S&M2 concerts were fantastic. One of the highlight for me is definitely from S&M2, James sang "Unforgiven III" without the band, only the orchestra providing the music. The raw emotion in his voice as he sang was just incredible.
Bleeding me and outlaw torn are great from this same show
They have now done two shows/ albums with the orchestra. I grew up playing the piano (a lot of classical) and Metallica is my all time favorite band and the two go together like peanut butter and jelly! It’s beautiful!
Metalica 🤟 living legend band, i knew this band from elementary school from radios also MTV such an awesome perform isnt 😎🤟
That whole album is beautiful but hard to beat the original and live unbelievable
In the original Version you can hear a Orchestra too (in the intro).
I was lucky enough to see both live shows up in SF for my 17th birthday. 23 years later, I still remember this like it was just yesterday!
Heh... when the show was announced the orchestra members were all professional and Metallica was all "oh my god we're going to play in front of real professionals". Then they started practicing and composing as a group, and everyone was very quickly on the same page(s). As willing as Metallica was when they were composing their original songs to rip up "the playbook", those who lived and breathed the playbook just needed someone to accurately call that new structure 'by name' and then Kamen added his art to it.

As soo as S&M came out, Michael Kamen become one of my favorite human beings. He nailed the orchestration on every song. Impressive. Plus, the combination of the two entities was his idea. Yay Mr. Kamen!

The Scorpions did a few songs w/ orchestra including Rock You Like A Hurricane (ie: Hurricane 2000) & Still Loving You. (+ more). Saw them live.

You should see Epica live with the 70 piece Extended Reményi Ede Chamber Orchestra and the Choir of Miskolc National Theatre, for instance Epica - Unleashed live at Retrospect or Chasing the Dragon live at Retrospect!
