Libraries in America are the most wonderful use of my tax dollars! Astonishing! Reading all I want for FREE!! The number of ebooks and audiobooks we have on Libby and Hoopla is wonderful too. Bet BPL has a great ebook selection as well.

Steve, next wednesday please give us your take on previous weeks haul + the new stack you got that day.... rinse and repeat every Wednesday... that would be great. Recently went to my local library and got new library card and checked out a favorite book from my youth, The Silver Crown by O’Brien. - a youth adventure book that I read 45 years ago and read to my daughters when they were 10 years old.The library is the cheapest way to reread this book, love my library!!

I’m so happy to see you have returned to your library. I love the library and while I enjoy owning books I still love to go to the library and browse knowing I can get anything or as much as I want for free.

Very interesting video. I'm so pleased to have you shine a light on using the library! I've depended on libraries, and as a kid the bookmobile, my entire life. They're sacred places to my mind. Now, they're the source of 95% of my used book purchases too. I look forward to hearing about your future library escapades!

Library staff can vary depending on city or branch. A friend lived in St. Louis after college & said the librarians were hateful. By contrast, I have always said if all govt. services were run like Tulsa Public Library, I would turn socialist.

I love my public library here in NJ. There is always something interesting I come across, roaming the stacks or in the new release section.
I am so happy that you are showing your library hauls!
I can guess that the Boston Athenaeum is one of your three favorite libraries, along with the Main Branch of the Boston Public Library.
But what is the third? 😄
Is it a small library in Vermont?

I love libraries. In Australia, all Public libraries are publically funded. I use The ACT Public Library Service which has a number of branches throughout Canberra. In Canberra a couple of public libraries are linked to Public Colleges (ACT Colleges are -Year 11 and Year 12 schools). Which means in Year 11 and 12 all students attend the public library everyday on school days. Prince Charles and Princess Diana officially opened at my public school library back in the 80s and I was able to meet them.
At Uni, I had a holiday job working in the University Library at ANU and was able to do some admin for the Head Librarian, Colin Steele, who did thousands of book reviews for the local paper, The Canberra Times. When he died, his personal collection was sold to a bookseller and I picked up a couple of signed editions, by Australian authors from his collection.
I pretty much use the public library everyday, either by reading a book or listening to an audiobook. The librarians have set aside my own shelf for my reserves, lol.
pretty much use the library daily.

Hello Steve. I had an aunt that passed away some months ago. She used to work at a library in Georgia. I haven’t been to the library in quite a while. I usually buy books on Amazon or Walmart or Walgreens. I like to take my time reading books. Having to think about rushing through a book because I have to return it or putting a book on hold isn’t for me. If I enjoy a book I don’t want to have to return it. I like to read paperback books and being able to put paper clips on parts of a book I enjoy. I also like using bookmarks 🔖. I like to keep boos that I’m reading.

You're in Boston? I love Boston. I grew up not far from Boston and spent many of my weekends there. Alas, I'm now 16 hours away.

It's possible your Cedarburg Library card may have expired as well. I'll check when I get in to the office tomorrow!

A Lincoln book (out of print) I would recommend is Lincoln's Preparation for Greatness by Senator Paul Simon which is about Lincoln's years in the Illinois Legislature.

It doesn't matter to me if something is ghost written. The information is still coming from the author/celebrity. Even if the author wrote everything, they still would be rewriting, and looked over by the editor and by a select group for feedback. And it still may not be good, so a ghostwriter might be necessary.

Well, for a whole bunch of reasons, I'm not against ghostwriting on principle - but of course there's a big difference between celebrities putting their names on somebody else's work and authors being edited -

    • @taylorbrock7198
      @taylorbrock7198 2 года назад

@@saintdonoghue If I hired a ghostwriter, I would - as some do, have their name listed as co-author. I assume some ghostwriters interview them, or maybe read the manuscript then rewrite, followed by a discussion for more details and seeing if the author likes the work so far.
