Here's something you may not know, Smith's fired his agent at the time after the secret deal was set up, so the agent snitched on him and the Wolves about. That's how it was discovered.
The wizards will have an endless rebuild because of these massive bad contracts for an example since the 2000s to right now they paid Arenas 111 million for 6 years, Andray blatche, John Wall, Bradley beal, and now they traded for jordan poole another bad contract player for them currently
Kuzma's contract is also bad for them, not in terms of Kuzma's talent but it wastes cap space on a player who doesn't move the needle or even improve the team necessarily
@@nmbmemphisbeast3690 OG Annunoby, Tyrese Maxey, Pascal Siakam, Immanuel Quickley (not all 200 million but they're all over 160 million), all are very good players, but not even close beside Maxey to the star level atp. You also have Hartenstein, Harden, Harris who are definitely overpaid.
@@oldmennewgamesi think it was a rule where every other year, you'd get an opportunity to pay out one bad contract on your roster and not have it count against your cap.
I never stopped to think about how many times the Wizards have overpaid their role players 😭 even their stars, I feel like they give them too much before they prove anything. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying Wall or Beal are mediocre, but they provided nothing more than a couple of 1st and 2nd round exits, they proved to be injury prone and still secured either a max or super max deal. They don’t have that Steph Curry, Kawhi Leonard or KD luxury where they can realistically get a super max anywhere they go despite their injury history; because they’re proven winners that all have Finals MVP to show for. Even players like Ant, Shai, Jimmy Buckets, Banchero and Brunsen can all sign super maxs all day. That haven’t won a chip yet, but have proven that they can win and lead a team to a winning post-season
Wow.. Damian lillard still getting sympathy from this dude? You don't remember him CONSTANTLY publicly saying that they didn't need big free agents only to start complaining once he realized he wasn't good enough to lead
To this day, I'd still like to know what Timberwolves management was thinking with the Joe Smith situation. Here's the crazy part, Smith fired his agent, the one who helped facilitate this secret deal, after everything was in motion. The agent then dropped a dime on Smith and the Wolves about the deal.
Sounds like the Knicks, now they are better but they had a team full of bad contracts,20 years ago, just recovering. Portland had bad luck,Brandon Roy,Greg Oden, then became competitive, west was so deep!
Pistons and Wizards are juat awful at management. Evan Mobley is a straight up atrocious contract! Dude can't shoot and hasn't gotten any better since being drafted
jon luer was wasted potential. He was a tall power forward that could shoot the three and has a decent back to the basket post up game. His nba career didn't last long because he couldn't defend and he couldn't rebound.
I still don’t understand supermax rookie extensions. The rules are only the team that drafts you can give that to you. Also you’re a restricted free agent. So just wait for the guy to get offered a regular max by another team and match it. Then you don’t have to pay the guy an extra 50 million 🤷♂️
Joe Smith was nice in Golden State, and early years in. Minnesota. I can tell by the stuff people say in these videos and comments section that y'all really didn"t watch much basketball in the 90s. Or y'all weren't even born yet.
It was a dark era for the Knicks but thankfully Leon the Don Rose and Brunson have fixed it!
Heyyyy you!! Stick to the game tapes! 😄 Lol. Love your show
Seeing RGT here is a surprise but a welcomed one
It was unreal,a team full of bad contracts,so many getting paid and not even playing!
That joe smith one is still crazy decades later
RIGHT!
Wolves fan here. It was brutal, we could have had Tony Allen💀

I remember the Jim McIlvaine deal. That was egregious and that's why they lost Shawn Kemp. TERRIBLE contact.

@@JadenJPDB true they need to fully embrace a rebuild, and get a new front office
@@edwardsdaniel5691 Yeah exactly they should get decent prospect players and picks and they should start more frequently new drafted players

A abomination of a travesty!!!! 😂😂🤣You never disappoint me @WilsonSy 😂😂That was a good 1!Keep up the good content my boy
Bro How do Wizards Fans even survive?💀
They just don't watch
Idk I just hide under the desk while the bullets fly. Seems like we should have kept the name.
Do they even have fans
I think this summer will be remembered by summer of worst signings ever, average starters are getting over 200 millions.
Who
2016 I think still beat them..

Some contracts are the reasons why the NBA should bring back the Amnesty Clause in the next CBA.
What is that??
@@oldmennewgames That was part of the 2005 and 2011 CBAs which allowed teams to cut players without counting against the salary cap.
Thank you.

But not every year. You gotta be responsible for the contract you made. But every 4 years sound fine to change directions
You’ve got to be my fav NBA lore guy

Big Country doesn't belong here, he was playing very good first few seasons, later serious injuries set him back.
Still bad if you're injured most of your contract years
Sadly, when millions are invested, injuries count as bad contracts. They paid him to play, not be hurt
Injuries don’t count towards being a bust I think Injuries do count towards if a contract is bad because paying someone to not play is bad
I agree totally anytime Shaq says you were a problem for him you deserve some $ and respect
The guy doesn't Know anything. He's a wannabe andyhoops
The chandler parsons contract was reeves 2.0

As a Wizards fan, I knew they would end up somewhere on the list...
Where’s Paul George and the sixers ?!?

The only highlight of Gordon's career in Detroit was that he just so happened to be the guy who scored the NBA's 10,000,000th point.
Sounds like the Knicks, now they are better but they had a team full of bad contracts,20 years ago, just recovering.

Grant Hill contract to Orlando was the worst! Didn’t play for years and wasted a prime Tracy McGrady!
The Sonic left over the Arena issue not a player contract.
Just a thought, Pre alford hawks were some dogs tho.
The Wizards and Pistons franchises are a disgrace…Tobias has bamboozled the league for years..
Like Gilbert Arenas said before, you get paid off of what you did not what you are going to do.

Buddy would be nice if he could improve his pacing
EMob definitely is just a role player
McIllvane's block on Jordan alone was worth $30M... So in theory it was 7 years for $3.6M. Do the math.
Do the opposite now. Great contracts that turned franchises around.
