I'll be doing the transmission in my '88 Silverado C1500 in the near future. This was a real nice video just to give myself a refresher since it's been a few decades. Lol. Also using the cardboard is awesome. Thanks for the video.

Happy New Year! Aspie. I have worked outside on the ground so many years that I wouldn't know what to do if I have a shop with concrete floor and walls to block the wind! My shop floor is crusher fines and a sheet of 1/2in OSB at best.🤣

Just turned 67; I'm pulling a 700R4 out of a 1991 K1500, due to a pump body seal leak. Big "fun!"--NOT... I watched a few videos, but none of them had the same exact connection at the transmission that mine does; I thought about leaving that end connected, and disconnecting it at the TBI unit, also. I'm pretty sure I'll have to readjust its setting upon install, but that isn't much to deal with. And, like you, I don't have a hoist, either... lol

The adjustment of the kick down is pretty easy. Leave about 1/4 inch of slack in the cable at idle. Go for a drive, see if it kicks down when you get on the throttle hard, if it is slippy or soft to shift, tighten it up a little. Test again. Thanks for watching, good luck with your project. God bless.

To drain mine, i just took the lines loose that go to tranny cooler underneath truck, start truck for a second, let it drain. Not long enough to do damage. Just a short spurt.

Great video, informative...that is one hell of a dirty transmission casing. Pulling is easy...i'm more concerned about installation..rougher.

Thanks for watching! The install is just reverse of removal. Really nothing too tricky. Good luck with your project!

I'm stuck on the crossbar, where he pulls the 15mm and then the crossbar moves. Mine is still attached by the rubber pad

Is the k1500 700r4 transmission different than the c1500 since it has the transfer case? Or is there a spot on all 700r4s to just add a transfer case?

Happy new year to you and your family bro. Thank's for posting another video.
I am so happy for you that you got such a nice place to work on vehicules. That makes a huge diffenrence! It did to me when I got my first garage. The only thing with mine is that my dump bed idi bullnose won't fit thru the door! A bummer.
    Keep buildin' shit!

Hope you have an awesome new year. I dream of having my own shop with concrete floor one day! This video was actually filmed at work. It is a blessing to work inside out of the weather for sure. One day I will have work space for my personal projects, but it has not happened yet...

I would imagine it is easier since you can remove the doghouse and get to stuff from the top.

I am honestly no expert in them. Not sure if 2 and 4wd ones are the same or not.
