For the user active status, we can use heartbeat mechanism. I am using DRF for backend and next/react for frontend. In server side, I can add a field in model (user)and write a function which uses timezone and create an endpoint. In frontend, we can use setInterval. But, it should be balanced to avoid load on the server.
Today, I had an interview. I should have watched this video before that, 😢 because the interviewer asked questions about that counter app in a similar manner (with multiple qus)
Vasanth, for that online status scenario, i did used Server Sent Events SSE, for every 20 secs like, to get notifications and user online status, because sse are very light weight and fatser. hope this is good way. 🙂

Yup !! So I suggest everyone to watch my mock interviews, before giving actual interviews.
I think "can't speak good English" is not correct. He is not very fluent considering he is in the field for 6-8 years.

Yeah this is a good approach !! as you know there is no best approach !! it depends on the use case.
Drawbacks of closure:
The returned function will not be garbage collected, Causing memory leak
Correct !!
