Brilliant video, I couldn't stop laughing, first at Paul demonstrating the loo and then that tiny bed pushed against the wall. No wonder you didn't sleep well. Thanks for suffering so that we don't have to.🤣
If I'm staying in central London I'm a big fan of Premier Inn Hub hotels. Decent size, quiet rooms, comfy beds and decent bathrooms (except for the shower gel). Also nice lounges and ok breakfasts. V good value.
Loved this - I feel like we've just 'next levelled' our friendship now that I've seen Paul on the toilet, haha! Joking aside, London hotel rooms do often drive me insane - it's a city where I find I get some ridiculous rooms (especially when I visit solo), and I agree - they can be SO loud! If you're back in London, I recently found a chain called Zedwell - they have lots of 'budget' rooms with no windows on the 'inside' of the hotel - perfect for London, as you're away from the roads!
Paul and Carole, thank you for this video. We stayed there about 15 years ago. The price has gone up a lot since then. It was £58 pp per night that time, no breakfast. The rooms were exactly as you showed in your video. There were small but spotlessly clean. The location is convenient. The Savoy is across the road. Thanks for the update info as we would like to stay there again. I have noted the bed situation. Thanks for the warning.
Omg love you two…🤣 everything apart from the little bed is what happens EVERY night where we live! We live in a supposed sleepy village in Wiltshire…well it used to be….now if you sleep in the front bedroom (I don’t anymore)…the MOTORWAY starts at 5am! not the actual M4 noise….and you still hear it with windows closed!….I’m talking motorists, Lorry’s and bikers zooming up and down our road…(it’s a rat run) until 9am! Partner took me to London 10 years ago now for a Billy Elliot theatre show…and stayed in Bloomsbury….friggin awful hotel..cold…dingy…terrible….thank god we complained and were allocated another room…..Sorry rant over…keep up the good work!
I once stayed in a rather grand hotel in Piccadilly for a Birthday treat, it cost an arm and a leg with very similar issues. These days with the Elizabeth line now offering very good and fast travel across London you're better off staying outside the centre and saving some lolly. Really disappointing staying in a hotel like that, ahhhh that bed would do my head in !!! 🙈 Very useful video to see, excellent info as always. Cheers, Vik 👍❤️🚢
My old company used to stick people in this place before it was modernised at a discount rate of around 90 per night. After one trip, everyone begged for anything else mainly due to noise and the tiny rooms. It actually looks a lot better now but still the same problems. The Cumberland and the Tower Bridge Hotel are the only two I might recommended. Such a lottery in the mid range but at top end prices.
The Travelodge Covent Garden is my top tip. Great location, and the rooms on the upper floors have amazing views of the London Eye. 1st come 1st served when checking in. Ask for the top floor. Cheap & Cheerful
Aww! Sorry to hear that you didn’t enjoy it! Tell Paulie to keep all that “power” on his side of the bed and stop pushing you against the wall! 😂😂 j/k! Thanks for a full review with both the positives and negatives!
Used to love the Cumberland Hotel off Oxford Streer. A lovely oasis in the middle of the West End but dread to think of the prices now. Since covid the costs have gone crazy!
Really sorry to see this review. It must have spoiled your birthday weekend which you were so looking forward to. Next time quieter location and use the buses. I find them easier than tube & use bus pass. Paul on the loo had me in giggles! Thanks for sharing.
I stayed here a few years ago and the room I had was even smaller than your room. Great location though for Covent Garden and the West End, but as you say very noisy on The Strand.
Centrally placed hotels in massive capital cities generally only have that one thing going for them ! Agree re it all being too cramped and a small double against a wall would have had me at reception asking for options ! I really hope it was just for one night, P&C ? 🥴
Hahahahaha - what an awful hotel room! OMG, we owned a single axel caravan back in the 90’s that was bigger with a better thought out layout… Thanks for sharing, James
Who wants to go to London and stay in a Hotel like that? There's not much choice anymore since the price for that is unbelievably expensive as it is. Anything decent is unaffordable.
Fat or no, even a thin person would have difficulty to clean their tush. If they had flipped both the toilet and sink on the wall opposite te shower and had a bifold entrance door they would have solved the issue.
Rather put that sort of money on another cruise, have you ever been on one 🤣🤣 if you cant wiggle around on the toilet, not good Paul ,so much could go wrong while sat on the pan and reaching all that way for toilet roll, bet it wasn't even double ply Andrex, more like Izal. Not everyones cup of tea being pushed against the wall in bed , but personally😂 that's a secret.
OMG, that’s almost $500 Australian. I recently stayed in a 70th floor 3 bedroom apartment in the middle of Sydney for just a few dollars more a night. Prices have certainly gone crazy.
Way too many red flags in this room for me! Just having the bed up by the wall would be enough to give this a swerve, especially for that price. Paul on the loo was very funny though.

Great video.

Lol what were they thinking with that toilet roll! Thanks for watching as always!

Ok thanks, we haven't tried one of them yet!
We stayed here last Christmas. We used frequent flyer miles. For us, the location was perfect for us.
Location is fabulous for sure!

You are welcome! The price has definitely gone up. Great location though!
Is that a towel rail above your head over the toilet? If a towel was on there it would annoy me like hell 😅
@jackiebailey5411 yes ideally placed to fall down the loo 🤣🤣
Omg love you two…🤣 everything apart from the little bed is what happens EVERY night where we live! Oh really! I would get someone to move the toilet roll holder then! 🤣🤣
Wow!

Thanks Vin! Yes maybe that should be our next approach, and save some lolly!

It is normally ours too, but was over £200 so thought we would try elsewhere. Thanks for the top floor tip!
Aww! Sorry to hear that you didn’t enjoy it! Tell Paulie to keep all that “power” on his side of the bed and stop pushing you against the wall! 😂😂 j/k! Thanks for a full review with both the positives and negatives!
Lol it was one we won't be repeating! 🤣🤣
Used to love the Cumberland Hotel off Oxford Streer. A lovely oasis in the middle of the West End but dread to think of the prices now. Since covid the costs have gone crazy!
Oh will have to check that out! Prices are crazy!
Really sorry to see this review. It must have spoiled your birthday weekend which you were so looking forward to. Next time quieter location and use the buses. I find them easier than tube & use bus pass. Paul on the loo had me in giggles! Thanks for sharing.
Thankfully it was only one night!
Thank you!!!...was planning to book this hotel for my next trip across the pond....will definitely go for the larger room
Yes definitely do go for a different room!
I stayed here a few years ago and the room I had was even smaller than your room. Great location though for Covent Garden and the West End, but as you say very noisy on The Strand.
It is a shame about the rooms as like you say location is superb!
"This isn't fat, it's power!" Love it!
I stole it from the Simon Pegg/ Nick Frost film Paul, come to think of it most of my quotes are from Simon Pegg/ Nick Frost films 🤣
Loved video because you showed the physical limitations as well as the positives❤
Thanks Brigid!
Thanks for showing us. That toilet and the noise would be so annoying. I never travel without earplugs. Despite this I hope you had a good weekend.
It was frustrating but we still had the best weekend!
£245!!!!! Outrageous!!!!!
It was!
Centrally placed hotels in massive capital cities generally only have that one thing going for them ! Agree re it all being too cramped and a small double against a wall would have had me at reception asking for options ! I really hope it was just for one night, P&C ? 🥴
Thankfully it was just for one night!
Oh lordy ! I think i stayed at the strand. Many years ago … it definitely wasn’t like this though. That bed is a shocker
Lol! 🤣🤣
Hahahahaha - what an awful hotel room! OMG, we owned a single axel caravan back in the 90’s that was bigger with a better thought out layout…
Thanks for sharing, James
Lol! 🤣🤣
For that price you could get a night on a ship - and have breakfast included.
Lol true, but many ships dock on the Strand lol! 🤣🤣
We stayed there in 2010 and really like the hotel. But we didn’t stay in that room. I can see that it is not comfortable.
Sadly the room wasn't the best!
I would call that a single room
Yes would be great for one!
Omg that is a single room. It’s crazy they would call that a double
Agree definitely not a double!
Your used to nice cruise ships like me , Paul on the loo 😅
He likes it on the loo! 🤣🤣
Oh dear, that's a shame. It's horrid when accommodation doesn't meet your expectations or needs 😥
Thankfully it was just for one night!
Who wants to go to London and stay in a Hotel like that? There's not much choice anymore since the price for that is unbelievably expensive as it is. Anything decent is unaffordable.
There isn't, very frustrating as we love visiting London!
😮😮😮😮 £245 oh my goodness. Absolutely ridiculous price and room layout isn't good.
No it wasn't!
Your not fat Paul, your "bonny" :)
Thanks 😀😀
Boy that is smaller than many cruise cabins. Dreary room. 245£ no breakfast and a closet of a room? That one is a for sure NO. THANKS.
It is smaller than some cruise cabins!
Fat or no, even a thin person would have difficulty to clean their tush. If they had flipped both the toilet and sink on the wall opposite te shower and had a bifold entrance door they would have solved the issue.
Yes could of been designed so much better!
Always hated this hotel.... despite its great location
It is a great location!

@@PaulandCaroleLovetoTravel sorry I must have missed them but I love all the cruise ones 🤗
Lol no worries!
