You have to get off the cents per mile attitude. You don’t get paid by the mile at landstar you get paid by the load. If you aren’t booking loads that pay a minimum of $1400 a day before Landstar’s cut you are truly going backwards. Set a weekly revenue goal & you will do fine. Also “long haul” loads generally are cheap compared to moving a step at a time from East to West.

My mentor is Larry Long of blue ribbon logistics. I look at daily revenue, weekly, and monthly. At Mercer I try to do $1,000 a day and $1,500 for a weekend load for $5,500 (that’s after Mercers cut) a week. Cost per mile isn’t the end all be all, but you do have to try to stay above your CPM after deadhead and all miles. Mine is $1.50 a mile. It’s hard stringing 4-5 loads a week together here because of the deadhead in between loads and scheduling conflict. Sometimes it’s been better to take a longer less paying load to keep the revenue going.

Damn this comment was for another video I was watching lol. What a clown 🤡. Anyways glad to see your doing good over at Mercer I hadn’t seen anything from you in a while. Hope you’re still keeping the Larry Long mindset over there.

I think they are both really good companies although my one year suspension is up before I left they suspended my personal convenience for three years. I’m not sure if that resets once your contract is terminated or would I still be subject to that suspension personal conveyance is important to me because I’m on the road all the time I go to the gym, I go to the movies I visit family and friends although I tried to stay on top of my truck maintenance I’m not sure if my pockets can handle the Landstar 120s right now there is definitely more red tape. Landstar and Mercer does a really good job of making you feel like you’re at homeand it’s a lot easier to get in touch with the different departments at Mercer i’m not sure who has the better CSA scores but it does seem like Landstar has a bigger target on their back that might only be because there are 10,000 on operators at Landstar and only about 2000 at Mercer. One other thing I really like about Mercer is that all of the agents are American and English is their first language. I have nothing against foreign agents ever sometimes that cultural and language barrier adds to an already delicate process. Both are great companies six in one hand a half a dozen in the other side of having my own authority. Those are the only two places I can see myself at as an on operator.

@Smooth_Operator_83 Three years suspension of your PC is blasphemy!! My uncle was a BCO there, and I drove his truck before the pandemic and it did seem like Landstar was standing in the shadows waiting for you to screw up, so that they can terminate your contract
