I really enjoyed this video and thanks for the great work. I found your content because I am very interested in visiting Soho Warehouse LA. My girlfriend and I stayed at Soho House Amsterdam before the pandemic, and unfortunately we were jetlagged and asleep when the drinks cart came by our room! Now I need to research the Santa Monica Proper.
The SM Proper and Soho warehouse were probably my 2 favorite LA hotels. So you can’t go wrong. But if I had to pick I’d go w the SM Proper - I thought it was great. Enjoy LA!
Simonette in Pali Hotel Culver City has hands down the best espresso martinis in LA. I hate vodka but their martini is so great I will drink them down until I’m drunk enough to pick a fight with a streetlamp. Never had a bad drink there. Their whiskey sour is my second favorite in California. To top it off, they’re also very nice there.
We're fomenting a late winter escape from the San Francisco area to Southern California (and, ultimately, the Grand Canyon). We'll be going down 101, hanging out in Solvang / Santa Barbara then making our way down to LA. Was following along with your hotel reviews, pausing to research each. What seems to come up often for even the "budget" hotels is $50 a night parking 🤔 as well as pretty high fees and taxes. The two prime contenders for the LA portion of our trip are: Hotel Figueroa, Downtown. Friend highly recommends. Hotel Normandie, Koreatown. Stayed there 10 years ago when it was freshly refurbished and LOVED IT. I also stayed at Maison 140, a boutique hotel in Beverly Hills, on business once. Might have to look at recent reviews for that.
Thanks for the comments and additional idea. re parking - agree it's expensive and Cali is notorious for taxes and fees. As you may have seen in our review of the Downtown LA proper we paid $20 for parking at the lot next door instead of $50 to the hotel - so there are hacks. Also - some hotels in LA have free parking - the Charlie, Surfrider are ones that come to mind but I'm sure there are others. have a fun trip HW 101 is magical.
I will cover a few $100ish per night resorts in this series.. it's coming. I always try to look for affordable stylish places... but they are harder to find.
Hi Christina... I'm sorry I have not... I'm checking w a friend in LA - who has great taste - to see if they know about it. I will let you know if I get any info back. La Peer is a Kimpton hotel - which I think are good - but the SM Proper is super unique. Good luck

If you're from San Francisco you'll probably be most at home in a cardboard box on the street?
Great video!
Thanks for watching and commenting!
i'm gonna visit all of them, one day :D
Hope so
These are all way beyond our budget. Maybe do some cheaper options

Have you stayed at La Peer in LA? If so what are your thoughts? I’m debating La Peer or Proper Santa Monica 🤔
