- During unprecedented times, such as the COVID-19 lockdown, for example, factory acceptance tests (FATs) still need to be completed.
Without being able to travel, it has been necessary to devise a system whereby clients and customers still have access to their equipment and units. A solution that GEA has adopted is the use of live digital camera feeds from the production environment.
Using a split-screen arrangement and a video conference app or smartphone, we have been able to send customers live images of the machinery in action and the HMI/SCADA screen at the same time.
Benjamin Kammerick, Head of Project Management, explains: “In the last 5 weeks, we’ve been able to complete five FATs for customers all over the world, and the feedback has been very positive.”
Well done! Virtual Factory Acceptance testing is here to stay!
Can you please share VFAT setup details.
