I don't like travel vlogs a lot..i prefer..you guys just eating delicious food at home or out somewhere..cooking or just at home..those are the best vlogs to me...
For the last 48 years my husband and I spend Valentines day the same way, quietly. Enjoying the calmness of our alone time. Since we had four kids and than two grandkids and now 2 great grandkids, alone quiet time just the two of us. Stay healthy, happy and safe. Blessed be
I’d like to know a typical day for an English teacher in Korea and what you liked and didn’t like about your experience. I’m thinking of teaching at a private academy myself. Thank you!
Would love a video talking about Sarah’s Korean learning journey. It’s clear that she can understand it fairly well, particularly in vlogs featuring one or both of Kyuho’s parents, but we only get a few words here and there. 🙂
I just want to show some appreciation for you guys. Thank you for always being real with your vlogs. I feel like lately so many international couples make obnoxious videos just to garnish views and it’s so forced that it’s borderline cringe. I love your videos because it’s real day to day mundane life (in a good way I promise) ❤️
Random vid ideas: how to optimize small space storage with time lapse tidying sequences. Pet cat culture in Korea with lots of help from Beemo. Adapting Canadian cooking/recipes for Korean appliances/ingredient availability. Hmmm, have you done rice cooker recipes? S/K Ugly Kitchen 'who did it best' collab. Sarah's favourite Korean snack tour. Kyuho's fave foods from growing up internationally and he could try some recipes (subscriber input)... Indoor Exercise tips?
My questions are: How competitive is it? And what effect does all of this have on the kids? Did you ever feel helpless seeing kids struggling under the pressure to be better than every other student?
Seoul looks really pretty in the snow. I would be interested in a video about non english teaching jobs you can apply for as a foreigner in South Korea.
Hello Sarah, Kyuho, and Beemo! You've been very kind to share so much about your lifestyle in your blogs. I'm interested about the ways people in Korea are creatively passing the time during the pandemic. It might be similar to things people do here in the United States, but the people of Korea might have even more good ideas! I've been doing more knitting and crocheting. Some of my friends have been sewing facemasks for family and friends. A lot of people I know have been learning about baking bread, especially sourdough bread. A few friends are learning new languages through online courses. Thanks for your wonderful videos!
I always feel sad when your video is over. hahah it became my sunday routine, and it takes my mind of my life even for just the lenght of the video. thank you.
It’s so interesting for me when you talked abt Valentine's Day because I’m from korea and my boyfriend is from Canada too! Valentine’s Day is actually not a big deal for me but he said it’s quite a big day among couples in Canada haha I had no idea, even though i lived there for a while! good video ;) have a good day!
Valentine’s Day is also my birthday. So I never like going to restaurants because they’re always packed and feels less special. So my boyfriend comes over we watch movies and exchange gifts (yes I still get him a get even if it’s my birthday) and we just hang out. It’s nice and feels intimate.
That shelf is gorgeous! Glad you got sponsored by Grammarly (and all your other sponsors, of course!). I'm a copywriter so I use Grammarly everyday and it's SO useful. Sometimes it's not as useful for sales copy, which often tends to break grammatical rules, but besides that I love it.
Thank you! 🥺♥️ Omgg! It must come in super handy as a copywriter! I used the free version for a while before they reached out, but I was floored at how useful/advanced the premium version is 😳 Reeeally wish I wouldn’t had access to this when I was a uni student 😅
As far as content goes, I enjoy observing your daily routine, Beemo and the outdoor cats, and your hikes to different parks. It is so relaxing. In regards to your hagwon experience, please discuss work-life balance.
Questions for Sarah: What was your favourite and least favourite thing about teaching at a hagwon? How has covid affected prospective hagwon jobs in Korea for foreigners? And what's one piece of advice you would give someone who wants to teach English in Korea? I love your videos so much! They always make me feel so calm and relaxed. I'm also a pre-service teacher in Canada right now who's planning to move to Korea to teach in the next couple of years. Thank you in advance
Hi Guys (Including Beemo) 🤣Good to see you after so long. I would love to read about some of your experiences. Yes, that shelf is perfect and bring balance to the wall. Gray is looking so much better from the last time. See you again soon.🥰
Sarah: did you have flexible hours? Did you get to have any say in what you taught/get creative with teaching techniques? Did u ever have a difficult student? Kyuho: were you always on call? How long were your shifts usually? Did you find a strong masculine culture/power dynamics in the military?
My favorite part of my Sunday mornings, wake up to 2hearts1seoul and drink my morning coffee 🌄☕ thank you, for making my Sundays a little better, and giving me something to look forward to in the pandemic 💟
Questions for teaching video: What made you want to do it? What grade(s) did you teach? What was your favorite memory (something funny or that stuck with you)? How did it change you? What made you stop? How did you handle 'discipline' when a student is acting up? I want to be an eng teacher in Korea so that is something I have especially been wondering about. Like what to do when they are being too loud or disruptive. Idk is discipine is the word used- idk if that makes it sound too harsh. What was most difficult about it and what was most rewarding (was there a specific moment?) Any regrets?
I love how you include the cats! Didn’t see many cats/dogs last time I was in Korea . I hope to make it out there in the fall ! I hear it’s beautiful that time of year !
My question: Did you become an english teacher because you really wanted to be one in Korea or because there were there no good opportunities other than that (for you/as a foreigner in general)?
I am interested to know what's the the interaction like between you and your students. Are the students in Korea proactive in general? Or are they timid/subdued?
Beemo is there to support the sponsors. I’m guaranteed to listen to the entire presentation, lest I miss a minute of Beemo! You are all so lovely and you always brighten my day. 🌞
Why did you stop being a teacher and what did you learn from the experience? You mentioned you told Kyuho stories about it - what kinds of stories did you gain from teaching? :) Would also love to hear about Kyuho's experience in the Katusa.
So happy to zone out with something good. Spent 45 hours without power in Texas. Finally got water. But we have a boil order. Crazy times. Finally slept more than about 20 minutes due to the cold. You guys always make my Sundays better.
Hi Sarah, Hi Kyuho! What a beautiful addition to your home! Our Korean neighbors left a beautiful dark wood cabinet out at the curb, when they moved out years ago. Hubby and I went over there, and brought it home. We still use it to this day. Thank you for sharing your hike in the snow. I found it so interesting, that the baked goods at your favorite cafe, are out in the open, during this pandemic. At our Asian bakeries, everything that used to be out in the open, are now individually wrapped here in the US. I think a Q&A about your years of teaching and Kyuho’s life while in KATUSA is a great idea! My question(s) would be..... Sarah, what grade did you teach, and how difficult was it to communicate with your students and other teachers, if you were not fluent in Korean language at that time. Kyuho, how did you get selected for KATUSA? Aside from being fluent in English, how does one go about getting selected? Do you go through extensive training? More so than regular army training?
I think the topic on the pros and cons of being an English teacher is a great topic. My daughter has been wanting to pursue doing the same but has seen and read so many different experiences and suggestions about it. I think you should do it. And it's your personal experience anyway so no one should get hurt on what you have gone through.
I like to celebrate Valentine’s Day here in the UK even though everyone says every day should be Valentine’s Day. Me and mine celebrated with an amazing steak dinner (cooked by him) and Prosecco followed by flowers and an English Trifle 😋 I feel like more people were into Valentine’s this year because of lockdown and just wanting something to either celebrate or enjoy whilst being stuck indoors
Wow I would love to see a video about your teaching experience Sarah! I'm planning on moving to Korea this year to teach at a 학원,(Covid-depending obviously!) so I would be really interested in hearing about your experience ❤️
Hey guys! I just want to say hi and love your channel. I’ve been watching since you started because I’d been teaching in Korea for 3 years and had returned home to the UK. Your channel gives me a slice of Korea in my week. I recently gave birth and look forward to some quiet time every Sunday while my husband has our little girl and I can catch up on your vlogs. I don’t have questions but I’d definitely love to see Sarah do a video on her experience of teaching in a private academy in Seoul so I could see how it compares to my experience in Yeosu, and because it will probably bring back lots of memories. I’m sure it will help a lot of people who are considering teaching in Korea as well. Love what you guys do! Keep it up and stay safe 🙌🏼
In the US, pre Covid at least for us we use to go to a nice restaurant and give each other gifts and chocolates. During Covid - we just ordered in food and gave each other gifts and chocolates of course. Our kids would also get lots of tasty treats for V day!
I love those video ideas!! Challenges you noticed your students having while learning English, like what did they have trouble most with? Also, coworkers! Were they from other countries like you? KATUSA questions: what was training like? Are you still friends with your colleagues from then?
Thanks for the wonderful Vlog!! For V-Day my husband and I stay at home for dinner. We either make comfort food, or grab take-out. We usually go for a long hike during the day, and then get a box of pastries :)
It looks really nice and quiet in the forest/parks....good plan for you to walk around here! It can get frustrating always being inside. ABOUT THE SCHOOL QUESTIONS; 1) What are the hours like? 2) How does it work for holidays? 3) Do you have unions? 4) Is there anything you regret not doing at the time to make life easier? 5) Was it easy to get into a school in Seoul? 6) Were you able to practice korean in your free time with work colleagues 7) If you needed to leave for emergencies - could you?
Sarah: Did you ever feel at torn between teaching students when it seems like some are only wanting to learn for their exams and then forget? And students who may want to actually go further with their skills? Also, what was your working environment like? :) Sending love and warmth!
Video idea/request: I would like a day in your life without talking. Sort of ASMR meets neural experience meets visuals. Maybe you go to the grocery, errands or a commute of some kind. Light cleaning even. But no talking... just your asthetic music and blurbs/captions. Hope this makes sense xx
We don’t really have the high quality camera/mic equipment to pull of the asteroid style of those types of videos-but maybe we’ll give it a go anyway some day!💦
@@2hearts1seoul I know you have a Patreon, but do you have a wishlist?? Like Amazon?? Please add what equipment you need to bring us into your world xx
I've been using the free grammarly version for years, I was so surprised to see you get their sponsorship! :D If you write a lot it definitely comes in handy, even just the free version!
Was there anything about the structure of teaching or the behaviour of your students that surpriced you? Can you maybe talk about your experiences you've made in Japan one day Sarah? 🥰
@@helen-marie3562 I am aware... Sarah also was in Japan before she came to Korea. I thought it would be a nice storytime aswell. Like when Kyuho was talking about his experience in India.
Ah! Love your videos. Precovid, for Valentines Day, my husband and I would go to the movie theater and then go to Hooters 👀👀. The wings and the tater tots are good 🤣🤣🤣
that slow zooming in LOL its make me feel a bit woozy. the granny spot was so cute! i love how active older people are in asia. if you made the video about teaching it would be great to hear about a normal day - I'm curious about the set up and things you do. as well as how it feels to be a teacher? is there a lot of stuff you have to do outside of your workday to prepare?
i think its case by case but i think mostly many don't chose to do that job for long/stay in one country for long if they want to continue to teach, but those who wish to still live there may not have many other job options so stay on
I've noticed most stay 2 years max. Those who make it past 2 years tend to stay for a very, very long time...like 8+ years. They move on to positions at colleges or stick with hagwons/public school.
For Sarah: How did you learn which content and methods work best for teaching English? It’s hard learning a new language, so I’ve always wondered what methods and ways people use to teach.
Yes please can you do a video of what is the pros and cons about teaching English in Korean?? I would like to know about this.. thank guys and keep doing this videos 👍👍
I definitely have questions about teaching! Really looking forward to your video on the topic! How stressful was your teaching experience day to day? Did you feel much pressure or judgement from staff/parents? How hard was it to keep on top of the curriculum, and was the standard/progress of your teaching assessed (e.g. by testing the students, self reporting etc.)? What kind of hours did you work, and did you have any other job/side project you were working on while teaching? Is there much variety between teaching positions in different schools (in terms of what you have to do, what hours you work, what pay/benefits you get)? Do Korean schools look for a particular kind of person (e.g age range, nationality, background, specific skills) when hiring? Hope that isn't too many questions 👀😅 I'm graduating from my bachelors as a mature student next year (will be on the verge of turning 30 when I graduate) and I would love to try out teaching english in Korea...but i'm not sure if it's seen as more of a younger person's job or if it would be seen as strange for me to apply aged 30! I'd love to hear your thoughts on that. But in general the interpersonal stuff with the school/staff/parents is definitely the thing that I'm most curious about!
What is the work culture like in Korea especially with teaching English (i.e. is it competitive or is it supportive)? Do you spend time with your coworkers outside of work? Do you see yourself teaching for a long time?
I'm really curious about both of your journeys adapting to each other's cultures and environments (Sarah living in Korea now and Kyuho in Canada (I think this is right if I remember right!)) - what were somethings that you learned about being in a new culture/environment, advice to those who might want in Korea (from Sarah's perspective) in Canada (from Kyuho's perspective). I'm curious because I'm living in Canada now and I haven't ever lived outside my country lol! I'm hoping to move abroad someday for a bit for the experience, but keen to hear your stories/perspectives on this!
Lovely hike guys! Sarah I'm curious about the angle for English teaching in a private school: do they learn strictly grammar and vocab or conversational English? Also were you forbidden from speaking Korean with your students? Stay warm!
Sarah, did you know any Korean before moving to Korea? If not, how did you communicate with the staff and kids at the school? How were you so brave to move to another country? Did you ever once think about moving back to Canada after you started teaching...feeling homesick, culture shock? Did you have any confrontations with the students’ parents?

That little shelf was such a good find! Looks in great condition, I’m surprised the owner didn’t try to sell it! 🤩
Right?! It’s just the cutest thing-great condition and the perfect size 🥺♥️
I had Grammarly before they were a sponsor for you guys, but it has helped me get A's on my college essays.
Daaaamnn, can’t relate 😩 We are too old to have enjoyed that option when we were in university, lol
Ah! Love your videos. Precovid, for Valentines Day, my husband and I would go to the movie theater and then go to Hooters 👀👀. The wings and the tater tots are good 🤣🤣🤣
‘Gimmie yer tots!!’ Man, I miss tator tots-now you made me crave them 😅
that slow zooming in LOL its make me feel a bit woozy. the granny spot was so cute! i love how active older people are in asia. if you made the video about teaching it would be great to hear about a normal day - I'm curious about the set up and things you do. as well as how it feels to be a teacher? is there a lot of stuff you have to do outside of your workday to prepare?
For us, we just have a family dinner it has become a tradition for our family. I’ve never went on a date on valentines day coz its too crowded hahaha
Do foreigners teaching English actually do this for a living for a long time? Or is this usually something people only do for a few months/years?
i think its case by case but i think mostly many don't chose to do that job for long/stay in one country for long if they want to continue to teach, but those who wish to still live there may not have many other job options so stay on
I've noticed most stay 2 years max. Those who make it past 2 years tend to stay for a very, very long time...like 8+ years. They move on to positions at colleges or stick with hagwons/public school.
sara would appreciate the name of the park that you shared..u might be visiting Seoul when its safe to travel
It's the same in Canada., but health care workers mostly. In the US I hear it's super easy to get in some states and in others not so much.
I was stationed in Korea twice and would love to see a video about your time as a KATUSA
Lovely hike guys! Sarah I'm curious about the angle for English teaching in a private school: do they learn strictly grammar and vocab or conversational English? Also were you forbidden from speaking Korean with your students? Stay warm!
speaking of the last snow....have a beauty box coming up?
I would love to hear about your katusa (sp?) experience and the experience you have with the U.S. military cooperation.
