Little tip: if you buy the “no skill” battle art and apply it to your shield, you will be able to use your weapon art without having to 2 hand your weapon, pretty sweet.

highly recommend picking up those red butterflies whenever you see them... usually around campfires. they're used for crafting fire stuff (arrows/bolts, pots, grease, etc.) so you can never have too many

I VASTLY underestimated item crafting my first playthrough. Literally had no clue how the different "pots" even worked or that they could be re-used. Fire Pots were essentially a free fireball spell for my Strength-built character, with no fp cost! 🤯
Another little tip, I keep my Spectral Steed Whistle and my Spirit Ashes in my pouch (hold triangle/dpad) so that my quick items are only flasks. Makes it easier to heal in a fight.
also if you know you're about to face a boss on horseback, stick some of those rowa berry things in there so you can heal Torrent in a pinch
Also, long press D-pad Down to quickly jump to the Crimson Flask. A lot of people do not know this; this has been a carry over since DS3 I believe.

@@isopodshuffle I realize this is 2 years old but I just found these and thought I would comment on this.... I put the physic, both flasks and the spectral whistle in the pouch. I found it easier to heal that way. didn't have to flip back and forth from the heal and FP..... kept my summons and a few consumables in the quick items slots.

1:11:05 if you use the finger snap emote in east Limgrave where you hear the howling. You can talk to Blaidd the wolf knight. He can then be summoned to help fight the Bloodhound Knight.

I think you'll really like the weapon from that Bloodhound fight. It's really fast for a Colossal weapon, more of a very large Dex weapon, but can stagger like it's a strength weapon.

another tip: craft up as many of the rainbow stones as you can and stick them in your pouch. they're great to keep handy to test falls - throw one off a cliff, and if it doesn't shatter then it's safe for you to jump

The jellyfish is really great and has a surprise that goes along with it! I’ve managed to finish the game and oh man I loved it so much. Already on ng+ and have the steam equivalent of the platinum. My biggest tip to you is if you care about side quest stories keep on top of them. Oh also! If you hold down on the d-pad it will always take you to your first item, so if you put healing there instead of cycling just hold. It took me forever to realize.

@@Emmalition honestly there’s some pretty heavy ones. I’ll not spoil anything in the game for you but there’s a lot of weirwood=erdtree symbolic parallels to make (like the blood sacrifice to the roots that we see in the catacombs dungeons) and we hear of some past events that I believe strongly correlate with the Azor Ahai/Nissa nissa/bloodstone emperor stuff in the books.
Oh! Not to mention Morne is a place also in asoiaf! It’s a castle on the island of Tarth and we hear a folk legend in Feast for Crows of a hero named Galladon of Morne who had a special sword so it’s super cool to me that you get a special sword for beating the boss there (the sword even is made of many swords of defeated warriors melted into one which is strongly reminiscent of the iron throne itself)
I recently came across your channel because of Elden Ring, and I'm loving the vibes! Such a great personality for this type of content! I can't wait for the next episode :)

Great videos. I just started watching and subscribed after I started Elden Ring. Yours are my favorite because I love the way abuse your health potions. I do the same thing all the time. I can totally relate even though you're 50 times better at combat than I am. So much fun watching the Chronicles of Fanta. I've recently started to play catch up with your Elden Ring videos, I've absolutely been loving how savage and witty you've been these past two episodes. The commentary is everything and I love the personality lmao. I get so much entertainment and laughs from your videos. :]
Also, a lot of the player messages can get really annoying and I'm on my second playthrough, so I know and feel the frustration. 😂

Yeah I love and hate the player messages. there's just a few too many. would be better if it limited the amount you see within a certain radius
@@Emmalition Yup, also a really annoying and somewhat common thing players will intentionally do is leave pointless messages in front of ladders, levers, and doors. It's something you'll start to notice quite a bit later game, so just mentally prepare yourself for that!
As if that isn't bad enough, some of these doors and levers are something you can't even interact with in the first place or need to be opened/activated a different way. So you think your way is blocked by trolling players or you're missing something important, but it's just them fucking with you and wanting to see the world burn. 🤣

I'm really enjoying these videos. Don't worry about leaving the critical path and getting distracted, the game is all about that.
About your coughing: In the OBS Output Recording settings you can configure it to save multiple Audio Tracks, and if you right-click in the Audio Mixer and go to the Advanced Audio Properties, you can select which source(s) should be saved to which track. That way, you can edit the game audio and your commentary separately, so you can selectively mute your coughs but keep the game sounds.
But the jump cuts are fine, too.
I have over 500 hours in Elden Ring and I've *NEVER* seen that Mimic Bear for a Larval Tear. This game is so fuckin cool that there's still stuff to not have seen after hundreds of hours
Its nice to see you freeroam for a bit in this game. I myself did this all the time and had a blast, finding things all the time and i died 1 time in like 4 hours and beating bosses. Just having the best time with this game

You are doing great, exploring is a lot of fun you'll find lots of cool stuff on your travels. If you are not too concerned with parrying you can put the no skill ash of war on your shield, that way you don't have to two hand your weapon to do the L2 weapon skill. You will find your weapon, if you haven't already, there are loads to collect and try out. The dragon burnt ruins does have one more secret that torrent can help you find.
Ooooh. Thank you so much. Agreed I'm sure i'll find my weapon, I think I am missing the speed/dex of my trusty saw cleaver so I'd like to find something similar with speed/slash ability even if it's just a shortsword or katana-style
D. The Hunter, the guy with the cool mask and armor, does have a great voice. He's voiced by Huw Parmenter, who is also in the show Vikings. As far as we know he is human. And does have a great voice lol.

@@Emmalition mmhmm. Did some digging. A lot of the actors in the game are in some awesome shows and movies. Not all are super well known. But some are. :)
Hi Emma. Doing great so far and there's so much to explore & do so just go with your gut & see where you end up. I've got 75hrs logged so far but seeing people on Twitch with 150hrs only just discovering areas I found when 10hrs in. But then you went into a cave in your 1st episode which I never found. It's just so big & you really will make your own adventure which will be vastly different to anyone else - so don't worry too much about just doing story bosses.
Weapon upgrades - You did have enough stones to upgrade your weapon. The figure in brackets (12) is the amount you hold and you only needed 4 to upgrade, however you didn't have enough echoes/souls to do it so that's why it wouldn't let you.
Annoying Map - Yeah if you've engaged with an enemy or they've seen you and are attacking from afar, like the giant knight with his arrows, then the map won't work. It's super annoying so just need to be clear of everything before using it. And you can't use Torrent in castles, caves of dungeons.
Also just like you're use to dropping off ledges to find new areas, with the new jump mechanic it's easy to forget that you can now scale/claim up things too. So remember this when no other route seems available.

What I found is that what you should not do in comparison to the other Fromsoft Games is Panicrolling. Most enemies and especially Bosses will punish you severly if you roll when you see them rasing their weapon because many attacks are delayed. There are enemies that have windups so long that you can heal twice and then roll until they attack. Also, especially with Bosses, you need to create the space to heal yourself. If you heal in front of them they will jump at you immediatly.
Now that i saw a good junk of the World I have to say this is the best game that I have ever played.
This is somewhat true, but some bosses you can heal in front of them when they do wind up for sure :) just depends on who they are.
Cangrats on beating Leonine Misbegotten on the first try, I didn't do quite as well. At 1:34:29, the 12 is how many you have, not how many you need. You couldn't upgrade because you didn't have any runes. It's always confused me how From show that information, but if you didn't have enough then then numbers would be red rather than normal colours. Looking forward to the next episode!

I feel much better after playing this 3 hours or so! getting more comfortable with the mechanics and such. it's genuinely a bit scary learning a new game because I always doubt my own abilities but i need to just have fun with it!

I get anxious when I have one person watching me do literally anything lmao I can’t imagine the anxiety of having an audience. You’re doing real well though, you’d feel better if you saw how hard I got slapped during the first 10ish hours of this game 😂 Your commentary is engaging and I just have to mention the bants again because 👌
Also not sure if anybody told you yet but with those footsteps running around on the beach, stand still in their path and try to time an attack as they approach you and you’ll get some loot. Keep on keeping on, keen for the next one!

You missed the commander when you were up on the ramparts. There was a message referencing a friend, but you moved on to a different path. It was on the left, down a ladder, behind some barrels

I'm loving the open world here. Take your time and level up your abilities and skills. You're doing great. If you're going for a strength build you should see about taking on the Tree Sentinel in a few levels to get a cool new toy!

Your play style is just fine. Too many just try to rush to the bosses and are not ready. Exploration is the best way to get more powerful and have fun. You can leave special markers on the map for various things but I still recommend a notebook because there is so much to see and do that you will forget things. Your comments and narration are top notch, hilarious and amazing.
I definitely need a notebook, I'm going to make a checklist from now on so I can go back and revisit stuff! Thanks very much
You should try and hit those Footprints with a heavy attack ( Jump attack works pretty well ), but you have to hit them right at the front.

32:20 That's not a complication or a wandering group of people - that's Wandering Runes.
This is what's so crazy about this game. I didn't get to castle Morne until like 20 hours into the game or so. But you can go to it early and succeed, maybe not going to be as easy as if you wait until after tackling Stormveil Castle, but you can do it for sure.
I guess if you're looking for story progress or "the correct" (even though that term is not really the best to use here) way to go is through that tunnel you said you found at the start of the video after all the enemies. The story path leads you to Stormveil Castle, which is after the Site of Grace in that tunnel area. :)

@@Emmalition mmhmm! That being said, since you did tackle Castle Morne earlier than me, you'll be pretty well leveled up for Stormveil Castle, or at least a little higher leveled than me probably when I did it :)
Can't stealth kill a man on horseback but if you perfect parry their strike it will immediately knock them off and leave them lying on the floor where you can visceral strike them for tremendous damage.
Also I am guessing that Bloodhound boss is susceptible to perfect parries. Maybe a good idea to practice them?

If you want to use the big sword ASAP you only need 27 or 28 strength cos you get a 50%bonus when two handed. You can start levelling other stuff after that rather than going straight to 40! You'll need hella endurance anyway if you're one handing that thing with a shield and heavier armor

Walking into castle Morne was super sad for me seeing all the dead the entire castle had just gotten slaughterd I just did that part today im doing my first playthrough as a faith / arcane build loving the game I wanna know about all the lore

You're doing great! I'll give you a few tips that might help since this plays very differently from Bloodborne and Demon's Souls. Learning to dodge is a lot more reliable than holding your shield up. If you look at your stamina you'll notice it goes up significantly slower when your shield is up. Also, if you like fast weapons with really fluid combat like bloodborne you should use dex weapons and put points into dex instead of strength. Weapons like Katanas and twin blades scale with dex and I think they're significantly more fun to use than a big slow weapon. Especially considering how fast a lot of the enemies are in this game. Most dex weapons are pretty op too because they cause blood loss on top of their fast attacks.

So far the formula I’ve developed for playing this game is observing any points of interest on the map.
Then doing the main story stuff. Definitely reduces the anxiety since this is not as linear as the other souls games
For sure, a great method! this certainly has less pressure than older games
