Biglari is the CEO of Steak n Shake. Weird he feels the need to put his name on there. Especially since they aren’t doing that well. We know who to blame😂
There's a similar open location in Irving, TX! It has the Steak N' Shake by Biglari lettering, but it's pure white and has the model of other Steak N' Shakes. I miss the old Steak N' Shake, though - THAT was truly something.
Hi I live in Columbia south Carolina im from Connecticut but was driving around last Wednesday afternoon and see abandoned Kmart with 😮the sign still up
I live here in Columbia and used to go here the moment this place open and trust me it didn’t take Covid to shut this place down. It was all on management. This place would be closed on days it should’ve been open. Honestly, I’m pretty sure it closed within a year under the impression that it’ll reopen soon if I remember correctly.
Yoooo!!! These are actually very strong facts!! 😂 😮😮😮 If you want to know what really happened go to the top and read my comments ! I know it’s not funny it’s just ridiculous
@@sahithi11 oh yeah, the area is growing perfectly. If Steak N Shake doesn’t comeback and run things again, someone is gonna take that spot before it gets too expensive.
Soooo, I really hope you believe me on this but, I worked at this steak and shake location since before it opened ( they held a hiring fair for the location at a another Marriott hotel, the Farrow Rd location’s conference room, not the Marriott behind you and in other angles in the vid, and they hired all of their initial staff for their grand opening that day, and I was one of them) and helped the managing staff open this restaurant and worked until another 7 months after it opened! I was actually not even paid to come help them open or get the location ready for training TO open. This location was quite literally one of the biggest flops that had the most potential I have ever seen at any restaurant I have ever worked at! One of the biggest downfalls, while working here was realizing how under experienced and overwhelmed the initial hiring managers view and focus was… I wish I was making this up but 3-5 months after quitting (because I was not scheduled to work, and was being called into), there was a massive hepatitis B or hepatitis C outbreak within the restaurant! I know this sounds fictional, but you can quite literally look it up and see the reports that came out!
Wow, this was the reason?! Yeah, hepatitis outbreaks is definitely a big factor in shutting down a restaurant. Usually, companies would take control and change management in cases like this for the sake of damage control, but they just let the management shut it down. Was my theory correct that it closed within or after a year of opening? What made me believe you was the fact you mentioned the Marriott on on Farrow Rd since the hotels seen in the videos opened long after the restaurant opened and closed.
This is really interesting. I've never been to one of these restaurants before, but I've never heard of a restaurant shutting down because corporate wouldn't let a franchise owner hired people they needed to hire.
I live in Columbia SC and ate here 3 or 4 times. I will say this: when it opened in 2018, it was too busy; not enough employees. It was a rough opening and lots of issues when you go. After first year, business slowed A LOT. But issues prevailed. Steak burgers were greasier than the ones from other steak and shakes. The main issues in the final year was customer service sucked. The waitresses sometime took 15-20 minutes to acknowledge you before she came to get your drink order. They had the customer service skills no better than fast food workers. When you are going to a sit-down restaurant, you expect better. Steak and shake (from Florida) was my favorite restaurant, but I always had a bad experience at the columbia sc location.
I was at a Steak N Shake a few years ago. It was actually reasonably priced for what you get. It's certainly not my first choice, but I wouldn't turn it down given the opportunity. I would say the food is comparable to Freddy's. I'll just say that Culver's is better though.
For a very short time after Steak & Shake closed it was also an Asian restaurant before becoming Culver’s. There is a Hardee’s across the street from it that was converted to Huey Magoo’s.
WallieB26, really enjoyed your awesome abandoned video! Never seen any steak and shakes in Oklahoma. Beautiful building tho! Looking forward to your next awesome video!
I live about 5 minutes from here. It was wild seeing how busy it was for the short time it was open and then seemingly abandoned like this. Service there was good, just too expensive. I think they got snuffed out by the Freddie's just down the road
Wally B is cool. Keep up the good work. If you ever explore closed places around the Kent and Ravenna Ohio area I'll let you know if there are any store closures !!!
When it come to a greasy buttery solid value meal you can't beat it. I don't even care if theres no drink. If I really need a drink, I'll go in the bathroom and take a slurp out the sink spicket. I ain't too bourgeois to do that. A drinks a drink and nothing healthier than some good old water.
Why 🤷♂️ but at first I thought it was an sidewalk but then I thought to myself kind of wide for a sidewalk. Turns out it's the drive thur 😂 anywho, great video as always!

I really like your sandals Walib26 it's very coo! I heard that it can dangerous to drive in sandals or flip flops because you could get your sandal caught in the gas pedal and when you are trying to hit brakes pedal and you can't get your sandal unstuck from the gas pedal.
I know it sounds like an absolute joke, but yes, a hepatitis B or hepatitis C, I’m not entirely sure of which is which or what the differences are, but there was a hepatitis outbreak inside of the restaurant after I had quit After that, I just remember hearing that the hepatitis outbreak had a lot to do with the failing state of the location… obviously I was extremely happy to not be working there when that happened but at the same time it was very sad because the food was extremely delicious and I was one of those few people who envisioned what the rest of the initial management team saw as a potential successful business
The one in my town shut down, then opened up, then shut down, and reopened about 6 months ago and seems to do good business. I haven’t been there in ages though. It was near a long abandoned Hot ‘n Now, remember those?
I miss not having a Steak & Shake in downtown Seattle, I ate at it one time with my family the next day after the International Auto Show in 2018, a few months later it closed down, & from what I could find on Google Maps nothing has taken over since then.🙁

The shakes have a lot of powder components instead of fresh ingredients... Only had 3 workers and was slower than heck... Too bad it'll all be gone soon...
Another awesome video....I ate at this location once, it's clear on the other side of town from me so don't get to this side of town often. The time I went it was dead, there was only one other customer. We had one in Harbison by Columbiana Center mall but it closed way back and they tore it down and built a McAllister's Deli. Now when I crave steak n shake I make the drive to Augusta Georgia which is like 28 miles from me.
I moved here to West Columbia from Augusta 2 years ago. I do miss going to steak and shake. Have you tried the Freddy's Steak hamburgers yet? I imagine they are like Steak n Shake or Culvers.

I've always liked their food pretty well. Last time I went though, shortly before the pandemic started, the service was abysmal. The Steak & Shake in North Charleston, SC looked like that too and closed about the same time. It just reopened as a Culver’s.
Culver's is great
Dang I’ve never seen a Culver’s use a used building before, any reminants of Steak ‘n Shake? Or everything look like the typical Culver’s? 😂
It does look a little different than a typical Culver’s. If you Google 4821 Tanger Outlet Blvd., North Charleston, SC there are pics of it.
