Hi, Why does it switch on automatically even when unplugged?
Yes It can be controlled this way aswell if needed to be used when the ignition is turned off

Thank you and your welcome. Unfortunately no, there is no parking assistant line option available with this system
Ah... don't forget to format your memory card for dash cam, or you'll get a card read error pop up.

You showed us everything except what it works like if you don't install the rearview camera. Does it automatically turn off the video and let you actually see the mirror after it powers itself up?
The actual mirror is not really usable (not viewable) when the mirror is powered up and in use. If you press the button in the middle of the bottom of the mirror once it will turn off the camera display and you can then use the mirror as a mirror. Once you have finished using the mirror you just press the same button again to return to the camera. If you dont install a rear view camera then the front view camera is all you will see displayed
@@SHORTwithTECH Thank you, that is the answer I expected. We have a factory back up camera and wouldn't need to install the one supplied here.
I would assume that it is assumed that while driving, the mirror is supposed to be used as a mirror and not a viewing screen which would cause a distraction.
@richg0404 No that is unfortunately incorrect. From my experience this DVR mirror (and others) is only compatible with the camera they supply so the chance of it working with your factory back up camera is not hopeful. I have tested it with 2 other cameras and neither of them would work. If you have a rear window (unlike me) then you can use the mirror as a mirror however if you dont use the rear view camera then obviously the DVR will not be able to record anything that's happening behind you. It is definitely not distracting, using a rear view camera as a mirror is 1000 times better then using any factory mirror in any car, especially at night time. It's like using a mirror with a permanent backlight and then of course there's the wide camera angle aswell, I definitely recommend using the rear view camera. Of course for drivers without a backup camera, it's also perfect for that aswell

Thank you very much. Yes, it seems to only be compatible with the camera that they supply from my experience with it, but so far that camera had been really good
