I've had my Freewell Variable NDs for some time now but whenever I decide to fit them, I struggle unless I watch this video each time! Good stuff.

The stability of the Mavic 2Pro is absolutely mind blowing. I have the Mavic pro and it too is great!
So, it's basically a type of two polarized lenses fitted together. I see the advantage to this. I also see the disadvantage if it vibrates and changes the value in flight, or the overall cost if it far exceeds regular ND filters, or if you break it. If you break it, it's broken. If you have a ND filter pack and break it you've only broken ONE filter and have the others to fall back on. If you have a filter pack, you can stack them, if they're good quality filters.
Generally, if you STOP down the aperture you get a sharper image. The shutter speed can do different things. Slower shutter speed blurs motion and faster freezes it.

Thanks for the great review Ed, you have made my mind up. Keep up the good work. And regarding fitting the filters I found there is a small spring that you need to push down to fit the filter without any difficulty. So push the filter down then turn. 😁

So, I guess my question is, is the dial easy enough to turn with the drone on without putting strain on the gimbal? If not, I guess it ruins the idea of have a variable nd filter. If you have to turn it off, then you mine as well just switch the filter. That's the hassle I'm looking to get away from. I always use nd filter's, well because you basically have to if you care about properly exposing your footage.
It's not pointless to ask questions here! Yes, you can turn the dial relatively easily. I've even turned it while it was hovering in the air in front of me.
Does it compromise sharpness? In regular photography variable NDs are criticized for loosing some sharpness
