    I knew some of this , but what sets your description above others I've seen is the clear , yet simple demonstration . Very well done !!

    Does anyone know the real torque limit for these 100 series diffs? I know the spec say 125ft-lb output, but I'm curious what they break at. I'm going to be running mine at really low rpm and high torque. Heat will not be the issue because it's low power/low rpm. Just straight up torque at around 100rpm.

    I put a peerless diff axle on the mobility scooter build. Put a disk brake right on the diff which can be risky since thee braking force isn't directly applied to both axles. Been ridden hundreds of miles and no issues with that setup yet. Stops nicely thanks to the tires being aggressive enough to not loose traction and have one wheel spin backwards. Having the diff on such a short wheelbase really tightens up the turning radius!

    Useful info! I actually have a Manco Dingo and now that I'm an adult. I never use it. It just sits around rusting. I've been thinking of turning it into a bit of a lawn tractor with an open diff and less agressive tread and a lower final gear ratio so I can use it to move stuff around the yard, towing little trailers and things like that. Not sure it's going to happen but if it does, this is definitely the way to do it!

    This is exactly what I was looking for. Have you experimented with electric assist rather than brakes to control the slip with the same differential?

    There are Peerless 100 "knock-offs" that use different side/spider gears and retain the side gears to the axles differently. I've seen both 15 and 16 tooth side/spider gears, along with axles that had the side gears attached to the axles with splines and a retaining ring, "double D (two opposing flats) and a retaining ring, and double D with the gear staked on. There is a difference in the case halves, too.

    Hello! I have a PEERLESS 100 Series Differential Assembly on my three wheeler. I’m running into an issue where only one side of the axle will spin under power and when I manually turn the axle where the wheel mounts the other side will spin in the opposite direction. Any advice?

    • @megoingfast
      @megoingfast  2 года назад

      The peerless is not limited slip, so both sides need to have equal traction. The sprocket mounted on the differential itself and equal weight balanced across both wheels, while each wheel maintains the same amount of power to the surface. Both wheels also need to be on the ground at all times. So if you tip a little, you'll lose traction again.
