Several years ago, I had a chance to meet Sara at a book signing for "Sounds Like Me".I had something prepared to say, but when I got up to her I just felt like crying, in a good, overhwhelmed way, so I told her, "I don't know why, but I feel like crying. Your music moves me so much." I was tearing up, and she said, "Awwwww" as she shook my hand. She was a sweetheart to everyone. I love her. She is so brilliant in the way she opens up her heart and shares it with all of us. Sara is one of a kind.
You are truly one of my biggest inspirations, I just can’t wrap my head around how beautiful every single piece you ever create is; they are all unique and wonderful. I love you
I’m sure this song speaks to everyone differently, bringing different memories & feelings. For me, it articulates the loss, grief & longing I’m experiencing. My dad died in accident this summer & at times it’s felt like the grief would swallow me whole. Night after night, I sit on our back deck, looking at the stars & longing for just one moment with him. A chance to see him again, to say all the things I wish I had said, to ask him all the questions I would have asked. I’ve struggled to put into words that longing-the desire to see him again, to be seen again by him. This song speaks beautifully to those feelings I’ve struggled to express.

I had the exact same experience with Sara Bareilles, my father passing away, only difference is the song for me, that came to me, at that time, was "Satellite Call."
