      thanks, yes its been hard going at times, but we have manage to complete some of the hardest jobs in that period, for eg the septic tank.. I honestly believe that creating the Gite is more involved and harder work than renovating the main part of the house will be... time will tell.. cheers

    Your reveal and pointing of the stone walls is gorgeous. Even though I listen to everyone's intros, I don't find anything of value in them, EXCEPT for yours. The into explaining the vid was thoughtfully done for me/us the viewer in mind. Thank you. And the early vids with your Iphone were just fine, no worries. I enjoyed this vid.     Oh my, this is nothing like any renovation I've ever seen ... and to see what it takes to bring a nunnery(?) forward a bit in time ... eye opening ! And to think it was pretty much a DIY project. LOL ! Keep 'em coming Grahame👍 Take care. -Mike😷

      Thanks Mike, I heard the other day that all the electrics are now finished in the Gite, so were on to the main house... looking forward to getting back, and moving it on... I'll be stopping at the house now, which I believe will be the first time anyone has slept there for some time... appreciate your viewing and comments, cheers

    I'm glad to see you put up some dry wall and didn't try to clean ALL the the brick walls in the gite. That's back-breaking work, but gives the place a nice ancient decorating touch. Love your videos.

    If you fit drywall plasterboard sheets in landscape then you have less joints to fill and you don't need a ladder to tape them up. plasterboard is available in 12 foot long sheets too.

    I enjoyed watching on .25 speed. Great to watch someone kicking it old school! That is something I would watch weekly if you broke it up into smaller chunks or do another property

    Good to see that insulation was put in while the flooring was replaced. Back in the day, straw was probably used if insulation was thought of then.

      I lived here 16 years ago, but now due to family and Brexit it would be difficult to move here full time.. luckily my mate has fitted tanks before in the UK, it took a while to get it signed off but no probs in the end..thanks for watching

    so interesting to compare with north American way of doing things. studs are at 24 in contrast to 16 inch. you have door locks with screws on the outside of the house. you do it all no paint roller and circular saw! wow impressive. i love the masonry work.

      Vince - here we use metal stud both in domestic and commercial, boards fitted vertical, with the respective insulations & membranes applied. Everybody I work with (including myself use circular saws/rollers and so on) - the norm.

    nice and hats off. You have to make it.
    But no idea what reasonable craftsmanship means. That's how you renovated 50 years ago. Damp room without vapor barrier, no insulation although the floor was open (and leave the old rotten), sewage pipes simply laid on the topsoil, shower tray installed before the direct wall surfaces are reasonably sealed. In Germany one would say: mold pre-programmed

    I,m sweating and my arms and back are tired just from watching you guys do all that hard work. Nothing wrong with the quality it was good. You guys sure did a lot of work in that time,and not a beer in sight,I don,t know how you managed,Awesome vid,Awesome job done,thankyou for posting,best part I liked was throwing the filler on the brickwork and smoothing it over👍.     Relieved that you opened the stairway upstairs. I was concerned about the elimination of light from the window.
    Lovely to see the small fountain become revealed.
    One question, why just a small micro kitchen?
