Lyra 8 meets Hologram Microcosm

A live performance with a very moody Soma Labs Lyra 8 and the Hologram Microcosm. What you see is what you hear. It was tempting to add a huge reverb on afterwards but I wanted to keep it real. The Lyra is so often on the edge of breaking free from any control I have of it.

Nice to have something that pushes one to explore, almost by default, and I think this combination is virtually unsurpassed for that. Excellent upload.......a nice balance between some detailed nuance and expansive drifting.................I appreciate your minimalist approach...............this is just dreamy........................

Great combination they really do compliment each other. The Lyra-8 sounds amazing but add the Microcosm and you are in a different world. Nice one.

I’m not aware of a “newer” Lyra.
Please elaborate. I’ve had mine since it’s first run and keep up with SOMA and I’ve never heard of a newer version/look (other than the fact that it now is available in more colors than just black or white).

@@VaccumBlister6 Apparently the older Lyras had only AND & OR switch options on the LFO section; the newer units have a center-neutral switch position, where the LFO is not engaged.... If there are other updates to the hardware, i am unaware of them 🤷‍♂️

Sounds lush. This is the combo I’ve been dreaming of. I just got my Lyra, it’ll be a while before any Microcosms arrive though. Incidentally, what tuning do you use most on the Lyra?

Thanks Pete. Tuning wise I seem to tend towards setting up 2 chords. Usually a minor chord, as in this film F minor, and another to add some harmonic direction. So here the other is a G half diminished. That seems to work for me. But pentatonic works well. I’ve heard one instance of someone using a Japanese scale. You could have fun with octatonic scales probably!

Great overview. I have both also, just getting familiar with them. I cant see if you are you using the Phrase Loop section functions on Microcosm here,or just the effects? (red looping light is off or not showing up on the camera) thanks.
