    I like using a 2 man footlock conclave as a “cheap” bodyguard for Eldrad. As you mentioned, Proxy, they’re also good for assassinating light infantry, but also had some REALLY good luck taking out Tau stealth suits with the Eldrad/warlock bodyguard combo. Destructor is good for taking out at least one suit and then the three of them pretty much mop up whatever’s left of the squad in close combat.

    Been toying around with running some as characters in my Iyanden themed list instead of bodyguards for my farseers, but with 5 characters already, its gonna be pretty easy to get scored on for Assassination

    • @ProxyHammer1
      @ProxyHammer1  Год назад +2

      Ya that’s true, however locking your opponent into fixed objectives can throw them off and you could always just hide the characters and make your opponent work for it! Plays both ways!

    You certainly make a case for treating the Warlocks on the 'situational' level of the tier tree, rather than the 'don't bother' level. Their best use remains as Windrider support, but there is one problem. Adding a Warlock makes that unit number 10, which makes it may more fragile to blast keyword weapons.

    • @ProxyHammer1
      @ProxyHammer1  Год назад +4

      See that’s exactly why I’d probably run a 6 man Windrider with farseer and warlock, makes it more low profile but still more than enough damage

      Army, Wayleaper with mask and death spinner, Farseer, Avatar, Warlock, Warlock Skyrunner, Solitair, 2 Spiritseers. Storm Guardians (full loadout), 5 Rangers, 3 Shroud runners, 5 Wratihblades, (shield and axe), Wrairthlord (2 b-lance, 2 shuriken), war walker (1 lance 1 starcannon), Viper (b-lance), Voidweaver (prism), 5 Dark Reapers.
      Opponent: Chaos Knights. 1 Cerastus Lancer, 10 Wardogs, (5 Karnivore, 5 Brigand)
      The Warlocks did very well. The Skyweaver blocked move and soaked up 2 brigands shooting. The foot Warlock blocked passage and forced the use of Knights of Shade. Wraithlord kept pulling the two lethal trick, but then kept fluffing the damage rolls. End of Game I only had the War Walker left, I forgot to shoot the Dark Reapers turns 2-4 and never remembered to use Fortune, but still managed to pull a win 67-54. If I had not moved the storm guardians as far as I did on Turn 4, I would have held the primary objective free of enemies making it 81-39, but that was a tactical error on my part. Overall very good tactics, and my first 10th edition win with Eldar.

    Thats a nice sleeper hit use for the Warlock Skyrunner, though Shroud Runners fill most of those roles (stealth, blocking, assassination) for more straightforward value
    Otherwise, I've been contemplating assembling a foot autarch, warlock, and storm guardians as a sort of (completely uncompetitive) bodyguard and objectives capturing unit, with a decent mix of torrent and melta weapons, whilst also being able to take Phoenix Gem and Fate's Messenger in one unit. At 275pts its pricey but not crazy, though a Skyrunner Farseer+Warlock and 9 Windriders seems like a far better investment.

    • @ProxyHammer1

    My opinion of warlocks in 10e has been very skewed because in my first game of 10e, my warlock had restrain up on guardian defenders on a mid board objective and the Bladeguard that were advancing and charging failed their charge by 2”. Basically one of the factors that won me the game. I also am a big fan of warlock Skyrunners with a blob of bikes loaded with shuriken cannons, that’s been very scary for a lot of my opponents

      @ProxyHammer1  Год назад

      Oh both absolutely have their clutch moments!!

  • @midnytthunda
    @midnytthunda Год назад +1

    What do you think about running a warlock with storm gardians to auto advance to score midfield objectives (probably more against slower enemies though) which will bait your opponent in for a charge if shooting didn't work.
    Then phantasm the unit which makes the charge harder but still doable and then use restraint to add a extra negative 2 to the charge, causing it to almost have no chance to work and they fail the advance. However, the guardians unit is not in range of the objective any more either but the objective is sticky so you can potentially still keep it, or at the least, keep one of their units off that turn.

    • @ProxyHammer1

    would you say that Warlock weapons are poor compared to those of Guardians or Dire Avengers? Even though the only reason to use Psychic swords or spears is if they were better than non-psychic weapons? And there is no lore reason why they couldn’t use less demanding, more effective weapons that they already trained to use?
