Thank you! I really enjoyed the stone tool you found
Thanks a lot
Thanks for this! 17:50 is a cattle ranching stone wall.
Alex I particularly enjoyed this documentary, although I enjoy all of your documentaries. I see it was done 10 years ago and I’ve been watching you for a couple of years and haven’t made it through all of your videos yet. But I happened along the same area a couple years after you and really enjoy seeing this again from your perspective. I’m so glad you mentioned that long Stonewall going from the creek up the other side from the petroglyphs. That was my thought as well, using it to drive animals and being able to hide behind it as a blind at the same time. Looking forward to trying to find some of those bishop places next
Alex, thank you so much for showing these wonderful places! I cannot wait to see this canyon for myself.
@Brayden Ronnie not sure why I'd need to use that when I can watch on YT....
Have visited this place twice now. My favorite petroglyph site. Need another visit.
Ilene, thanks for watching. Difficult place to reach, but well worth the effort.....................................alex
Thanks for watching. The dark brown color of the boulders / stones are dark patinas formed over time by the interaction of the sun, wind, and particles of clay, iron, manganese, and organic materials. Many of the petroglyphs are formed by light abrasion techniques which result in a "painted" appearance. Regards......alex
I find your video's so interesting, I can't thank you enough.
John, thanks for watching and your kind words..........alex
Looks like the military had a good time breaking all that apart... thanks for going the distance Alex!
That's what I'm seeing too
Very prolific site.
And interesting that it intersects with the wall!
Very nice Alex! Thank you!
Thanks for watching the series............................alex
A very Sacred site....A special Sacred place ... A place of Very Powerful Prayer...Always have respectful awareness and act accordingly..
I would like to Caution that visiting a Sacred Site like this with Shamatic Spiritual representations is not a good idea...These Sacred Places are purposely in isolated areas and are meant for Shamons, Dreamers, Holy ones...and Apprentices...
These petroglyph share some common symbols with two different sites close by. One just outside of sparks Nevada a stones throw from interstate 80. COURT OF ANTIQUITY. The Other EVANS CANYON off Pyramid hwy in Spanish Springs. Both are moderate hikes of around a mile but definitely worth the effort. I would love to see Alex's thoughts on these sites. Happy trails
Hello John, thanks for watching the series and your comment. Hopefully, I will be able to trek out to those sites in the Spring.............alex
Thank you, sir for respecting the remnants of the ancestors. My first thought on that tool was maybe a digging tool for rhizomes/tubers.
@
Melaine, the tool might very well have had several uses. Thanks for watching and your comments......................alex
Thank you for sharing. Althought I am only a few miles away, I would not be driving that road to get there.
Thank you. It's fascinating to me how the same symbolism occurs in various areas of the world, as if the ancients shared the same pool of knowledge, or identified with the same experiences.
I think that in one way or another we are all connected. Thanks for watching....alex
True, Alex. Thank you for the video!

Some of the artistic patters from that time can be deciphered:
--A circle with dots or spots is the leaves, crown of a tree. If it is trapezoid - is a bush. If like a carpet -represents grass. Or in general vegetation.
--A few curving lines, paralell to each other - is a river.
--A few zig-zag lines, paralell to each other - is a mountain. Or generally lines with sharp angles.
--A cube like cell - is a house, or a livestock pen - made of bamboo, etc
A longer such one - may represent a canoe, or generally smth like a papyrus made boat, if its shape suggest it, because the way these things were made back then is similar.
--And lastly, tho this one is dubious for now - a spiral - represents a child, or giving birth. Or even being fertile. This one needs more research.
No, unfortunately I've only read about them. I haven't made the trek because those lakes are located miles back in the mountains. The only way to get there is on old dirt logging roads. Those dirt roads can sometimes get washed out in spots. So my car probably doesn't have enough clearance to make it all the way.
Alex very nice, thanks for the video tape............
Are you sure... The points below the basket weave are not net weights?
We explored there today! Awesome!
Can I ask how you got there? Hiking or quads?
Why are the rocks all broken apart like this?
Thanks for watching. These boulders are basalt and are a result of volcanic eruptions which occurred millions of years ago.....alex
Thanks, before I trek up there I will do some more research......alex
ak8mike, I will be in the Tahoe area in June - have you visited French Lake and seen the petroglyphs?......alex
It must have been raining while this material was being formed by the lightning causing it to crack all over as it did.
Hello Alex, this is an awesome video. Recently I visited a couple of sites on northern México and some of the symbols you showed us are very similar to the ones I found at Narigua, and El Chiflon sites in the state of Coahuila, near the city of Saltillo. I can share some pictures with you if you like.
Hello Uriel, thank you for watching the film and your kind words. Because of early human migration from the North many of the symbols found in the American Southwest and elsewhere in the USA can be found in Mexico and further south. And they are always exciting to encounter. Yes, I would enjoy seeing your photographs.
I can be reached at: alex@storiesbyalex.com
Holy shit I work 30 mins from these lol and rode dirt bikes in those hills for years never even knew
Thanks Alex, this is a great series. Since you seem to be in that area, you should go check out Meadow Lake, and French Lake if you can. I haven't been there yet myself, but I've read that the Martis Indians left petroglyphs out there.
I find that rock wall interesting. Have you ever been to Chico California? There are mysterious rock walls out there as well. Archaeologists aren't completely sure who built those rock walls. The local Indians say that the wall have always been there. There was also an ancient Chinese coin found near one of the walls. So archaeologists believe that the Chico Ca walls were either built by unknown ancient Europeans, Indians, or the Chinese, and they don't know why the walls were built.
Thanks for sharing
It looks like another site of a long lost civilization, that someone destroyed! Minors? Calvary? I see this in a lot of sites in the world, but mostly here in the USA. Has anyone tried to piece these together again?
At the 20:00 mark there's a petroglyph of a circle with spokes. This is a form found all over the world. The explanation for it can be found here watch?v=t7EAlTcZFwY. Go to the 35:30 mark.

It's what was visible in the skies of the time... The "Solar" System was a very different place in the (not too) distant past!
The electric Universe...
It was their pencil.
@ 18:25 - *NV Lizzards!* these are the most Hard-headed, strong willed, assertive, reptiles - they were a Pain in the Arse' on my Patio and in my Garden - and would stand up to me when I was watering with a blast of pressure - they still didn't want to clear the wall and leave their spot! I use to cuss them in 2 languages - they were absolutely as incorrigible as *my hard headed Basque Irish Son!*
(Las Vegas Valley)
I love that ancient land.
Beth, thanks for watching.............................alex
Sir I think your basket weave is actually a fishing net with weights, as I have mended many as soon as I saw it I recognised it
Narice, thanks for watching the series and sharing your observation...........................alex
all the beautiful dots on the rocks look like the lizards dots on its skin..
you can tell they tried to destroy most of it
One Chico historian says, "The Chinese didn't do it." He says that the true wall builders were Azores Portuguese, who were brough to Chico more than 100 years ago by families who owned much of the land at that time.. At that time relatively few people owned land and they put up the walls as boundary lines and to get the rocks out of the fields so that grass could grow for the cattle to graze. Either way, they are all interesting stories. Regards - Alex
"Symbols in an Alien Sky" (David Talbot)
Symbols common all over the world.... The skies were different then.
i agree
It’s interesting to see how ancient people defaced their ancestors’ art by drawing over it.
Thanks for watching the series and your comments. Today, we are very angry when a "modern" person defaces a petroglyph or pictograph, but I have been to many sites where three or four previous culture groups marked over preceding groups. I guess in many ways mankind's behavior throughout history remains the same in many ways..........................alex
These pics of the petroglyphs look great, but at times my eyes discern them as chalk-like or painted onto the surface appearance. (Not carved into the rock)! Sorry my eye sight is getting bad...
Do you know if these are still accessible? I heard that the road has been blocked.
Benjamin, I have not been to the site in 6 years and I do not know status of the road. I would recommend a Google search for the site which should yield much information of the site and its status. That is how I was able to trek out to the site......alex
Have you found the 'little big man' said to be 5,000 plus old..... Modoc National
Hello olddude, thanks for watching......I have not yet visited Modoc National Forest........alex
One of the best petroglyph videos I've ever seen I really enjoyed it. thewayofthings.org
Thanks for watching and the kind words......alex
Who Distoryed this?? Whey don't you put them back together again??? And read the story thy will tell???
I like your videos too, but the choice of peyote songs is inappropriate for great basin culture. There are lots of videos on youtube that feature Paiute and Shoshone songs and singers actually native to the region. I'm not saying the song you chose aren't good songs, but they are from another people with different cultural and religious beliefs.
Thanks for watching the video and your comments. You are correct in your observations. Often I use music and songs which generate a sense of emotion or feeling which are not connected to the region or culture I am filming....................................alex
Tool long gone on ebay by now.
Look at the lower bottom right of the screen at 3:50! Tell me that's not a drawing of a Caucasian! I mean I'm sure ya could come up something else but that's my Opinion! There's plenty of Oral History to back me up!
Thanks for watching and your comment. My personal observation is that early people from a many different cultures from all points of the compass came to the Americas (North, Central, and South). They came and or visited from Europe, from Africa, and from Asia. However, much is left to speculation as most of that history has been lost in time. Which culture or group came first, stayed longer, outlasted others, and etc in my opinion is of no great consequence because I think at one time or another they were all here..................alex
@ 14:09 θ
Thousands of years and absolutely no improvement in their communication skills.
Thomas, thanks for watching and your comment. However, one thing that I would consider is that perhaps people during the era that petroglyphs were produced knew exactly what they were communicating. As an example we had no idea what Egyptian script/symbols meant until the discovery of the Rosetta Stone...............................alex
there is somthing you didnt notice and nobody noticed till now
Thanks for watching. PS: What did we miss?
Hi, 1) there are missing parts of the prtoglyphs and cracks 2) the surface have been flattened before making these petroglyfs on the most places, does this mean something?. I like the presize way you are seeing the history of the places and discover what others are not able to see. thanks for responding
Hello, in this case many of the boulders have cracked and the surfaces have broken apart due to weathering which is caused by the sun, rains, and cold weather......alex
I think that these stones have been destroyed after they have been done due to a great impact that hit the earth . I think it was a part of a coplex oe bigger mountain full with petrogryphs
farid.m Roushdy me too same , a bigger wall or rock is broken in to pieces i think too like u
The glyphs depict a large comet that exploded in the sky 11,600 years ago... the dots are the flaming fragments falling to earth...
Jacob's Ladder......

There all symbols of plasma..
Melaine, thanks for watching and your comments. Many of the symbols could be as a result of observing a celestial event. However, some of the petroglyphs also depict human and animal forms...........alex
