My granmother (great great l ) Mercedez she was from that tribe. There had to help Al Kroeber interpret the language . Her grand daughter Inez started to document the Kern River Indians and what she remembered about tbeyre traditons . ihave the unfinished draft along with pictures of them some were named .....Yah Ya;h kha , Taicump, and Wanamut who was my great great grandmother. Hello Ann, thanks for watching the video and your comments. I would enjoy seeing your Grandmother's documentation. I could not locate your email, but mine is: alex@storiesbyalex.com
Ann, would you you be willing to share with others? I live in Bakersfield and do a bit of studying of the local tribes. Would love to see what you have.
My 4th great grandparent is in the Etnography done on the Tubatulabal tribe. BILL v chico. Im owens valley paiute (Mono) tribe. But i understand they are seeking fed Req.. i pray for my Relations down southern way.
That obsidian blade may have been used to dress out an antelope who came to the spring for a drink thousands of years ago... Love the "red wheel" (UFO) and being with a radiating helmet.
Amazing finds. I really would love to do this one day. I am from the Central Valley (Porterville) and am 1/4 Yokut. I am very proud of my heritage and have a lot of Central Valley family roots. Seeing this warms my heart. I'm currently reading Frank F. Latta's Handbook of Yokuts Indians, and am thoroughly enjoying it, and want to visit all these wonderful sites he discusses. Seeing these pictographs and symbols left behind bring me so much joy. I'm related to the McDarment yokuts which descended from Peyron and the Manuel's
Pretty cool, I found some artifacts next to the hot springs on the Kern river next to a cold spring popping out of the ground... I left them right there
Thinking about the 28 tics, they are also depicted in the pueblo peoples desert canyon pictographs and I had a thought come to me, and it's just a thought I had while looking at the pictographs on the canyon walls of the pueblo settlements, to me the pictographs you showed look older than the pueblo, that makes sense to me because the area you are in is the kern canyon which had a good amount of salmon that would likely run in March, what month comes before March? Ha ha sorry this thought was sort of a stretch of my imagination so I had to bait it, February is the worst month for hunter gather people's, they would have to hunker down and subsist on their stores during that month and it is the only month that has 28 days, idk, makes sense to me that the kern river people's depicted a net at the end of that 28 day tic and the pueblo people's had a different way to show what they did to gather food or something that was available to them at the same time of the year.
Thanks Alex!!A stand out episode with so many interesting finds. It’s cool how your videos are both relaxing and exciting!I’ve been passing through Walker Pass on my way to Lake Isabella/Kernville many years and only now through your videos is the first view of Tubatulabal pictographs! Thanks for the drone shout out sharing some of your specifics on filming tech.
Hi Alex!! I love the videos! We gound some like this on a hilltop over looking the valley floor. I always wondered why they would be so high up. Lots of art work, and grinding holes uo there.
Dear Alex Kerekes, Thank you again for the efforts you make to discover traces of ancient civilizations. There are two kind of images that we find in many places. One is a figurine with spread arms. That indicates that a person is afraid. The second is a sign that we see at 20 min 33 sec. This is the symbol of Nibiru. Identifeid by a nucleus in the centre and 6 or mostly 8 rays around it. The outside circle has also a meaning but I can not explain that without other knowledge. There may be several variations of this symbol that indicate it is about a moving object in the sky that changes in form. It is an object with a spiraled tail. The places that you show are clearly shelters with a strong roof. That is necessary because that planet causes a bombardment of meteors. Many people and animals are killed by this rain of meteors. Because it is a recurring disaster we know a lot about it
Alex is back! Great site! Where you found that razor sharp obsidian, I thought I saw some pottery shards on the ground in your video. I have used Dstretch to enhance images. Do you use it to enhance video as well? Looks like you were enhancing the images as you were shooting the video continuously which is really cool. Thanks once again for a wonderful video!
Hariroa, thanks for watching. I have used D-Stretch, but in this instance I simply manipulated the contrast and color saturation. I hope you make it out to these sites. Keep on trekking...............alex
Hi Alex, love your videos. I live in the KRV and have been exploring the first area you show in this video and have researching it and all the other known native sites in this valley. In the book Tubatulabal Ethnography published in 1932, it claims this is "Koso" (Coso) territory. Also, have you seen the tons of mortars and possible cemetery across the street? There is also a small pictograph over there. Please keep making these amazing videos, it has taught me so much!

Was wondering if the obsidoan is local or did they trade for it from another area? And was the red, ochre or a local plant product, or some kind of iron? Well you answered my first question.
Thanks Alex for a great video. I often wondered if the Tubatulabel made petroglyphs/pictographs. And now I know. I have found some Tubatulabel village sights (probably summer/fall camps) in the Kennedy Meadows area, just north of this site, but never have found any pictographs.

Hello Alex, I have enjoyed to watch a few of your videos now but on some of them I did not see an actual site location. Also could you please include a direct overhead photograph of any of the mortar stones you find as I find this subject very interesting to me. Thank you. Gazza.
Hello davis long, the Tubatulabal people of the Kern river valley have survived historical trauma. Of the three bands of the Tubatulabal, the Pahkanapul were the only ones to survive the Whiskey flats Massacre of 1863 when 35-40 Tubatulabal people were lined up and shot dead by the U.S. Cavalry. In that massacre much of the oral history was lost. Also, the tribe was almost wiped out because most were adult men who died in the massacre. I can't say for sure what the symbols mean as much of the knowledge of the ancient past has been lost in time. Nevertheless, I believe some of the symbols represent lunar and celestial cycles.............alex

Alex, why are these sites always "ancient" sites? The Tubatulabal had villages in recent times, when they came into contact with the Europeans, and the Tubatulabal and remnants of the language are still around today. The Nlaka’pamux (Thompson) Indians, as one example, cooked and ate the fresh, peeled roots and also dried and stored them for later use. When needed, these were rehydrated, scraped, chopped, and cooked into stews. Native Americans also used bull thistle to treat hemorrhoids, which they presumably learned from French fur trappers. Probably cant see most petroglyphs now days because of weathering. I been combing through Santa Monica mountains trying to find somthing Alex but no cigar...
Mitchel, thanks for watching and your comment. Remember, the quest itself is half the fun. Conduct research and don't be discouraged. Here is what I found on the internet, "The Santa Monica Mountains have more than 1,000 archaeology sites of significance, primarily from the Californian Native American cultures of the Tongva and Chumash people.[3] The mountains were part of their regional homelands for over eight thousand years before the arrival of the Spanish.[4] The Spanish mission system had a dramatic impact on their culture and by 1831, their population had dropped from over 22,000 to under 3,000".

Hello again Alex. Are you interested to know what the pictographs mean. I CAN show you. If you ARE INTERESTED, I stopped the video at 7min 16sec. 1. 35°36'19.22"N, 118°37'6.37"W 2. 35°35'58.17"N, 118°40'21.49"W 3. (The Shooting Star) 35°38'5.47"N, 118°38'37.88"W. It is wonderful to find that all the markings on this stone are there. Look very closely at this frame at the very fine detail. It is all there and it is in fact all still on satellite view in Google Earth. This would be a better way to find your way around ancient America do you think. I found your site also even though I was disappointed that you gave very cryptic clues as to where it was. I still like your videos. I am enjoying to reference these to Google maps.Thank you for making them and please make more. mcinzie.
Gary, thanks for watching and your observations. My sensing is that often times there is a celestial connection to the pictographs or petroglyphs left behind by the ancients. I will check out your coordinates.....................alex
@@storiesbyalex Hello again Alex. Thank you for your reply. My experience with these maps is that they are not celestial but just very good maps. If you have your Google eye level at 6km you will be able to see the shape of each pictograph. Go higher and you can see the big picture. mcinzie.
I forgot to mention that the detail is on the stone not just what has been highlighted. Look very closely at your video. It all transposes to Google Maps.
Stop Video at 6min 45sec. 35°34'35.98"N, 118°48'24.91"W (This is the foot glyph that looks like a mistake), and the pictograph on the line west. 35°35'54.14"N, 118°51'22.64"W. I know that when you learn to read and decipher these maps your hunt for lost civilizations will be a lot more fun. Thank you and your helpers for making such great clear and concise videos. Have fun with the hunt. mcinzie
Always wondered how would ancient people knew to go looking for obsidian. If no one told me about it I wouldnt even know it existed. Its not something that you'd randomly come across is it?
I just visited these two sites recently myself! I thought it was so incredible that the last site, the alcove in the alpine meadow, was so inaccessible. I spent nearly half an hour trying to climb up there to no avail (and I'm a rock climber). Check out my photos from the trip (as well as visits to Fossil Falls & Little Petroglyph Canyon): scottoller.exposure.co/coso
Ryan, thanks for watching and your comment. My sensing is that the pictographs have some sort of calendar associated astrological events such as the Solstice, but that is only speculative on my part................................alex

1. 35°36'19.22"N, 118°37'6.37"W 2. 35°35'58.17"N, 118°40'21.49"W 3.
Thank you.......A'HO...
Thanks a lot.Your surname ''kere'' and ''kes'' have meaning in Turkish and ''kere'' mean ''times'' like 3 times 3 equals.. ''kes'' mean cut.
Scott, just viewed your website - great photos and story. Keep on trekking.........alex
Alex this looks a little like a map
Ryan, thanks for watching and your comment. My sensing is that the pictographs have some sort of calendar associated astrological events such as the Solstice, but that is only speculative on my part................................alex
Unbelievable!
Pine nut eaters? I bet they made a mean pesto sauce! BTW look out for rattle snakes!
