If it's brewed in the UK than you can't really do a beer battle cuz your not drinking the proper version it's the UK brewed version. So UK brewed Vs UK brewed battle
I do sometimes think to myself "did I just watch 10 minutes of someone drinking beer?" 🤣
It's relaxing somehow lol
Simon, if you get the 6x330ml cans of Heineken they are brewed in the Netherlands, would be a good comparison
Should do a Beer World Cup with eliminations involved. See what the best beer is and from what country? Whether it be uk brewed or not. Or a best of British brewed lager Heinken vs San Miguel vs Singha etc.
Germany wins 10-0 ✌️🇪🇺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺😊
@@krisbowditch827 The Czechs and the Polish would do okay as well
Heineken is great on draught, bkade & sub.
Top tip search for the small Heineken cans in supermarket these are dutch brewef you will be suprised 👍👍
Love these comparison videos. I've just had a mad idea......to celebrate Euro 2024 this summer, maybe get a beer from each of the 24 teams that qualified, put them into their 6 groups, and compare a group each day. Then, the top 2 from each group go through, as well as the 4 best 3rd placed beers from the 6 groups. Like the football, then do a straight knockout & see if the beer tournament results are anything like the football results.
How bout reading comments before you first? 😆😉 It does seem like an obviously good idea though.
I really enjoy these versus battles (and your videos in general, Simon 🙂) - in my local Sainsbury's, they sell six packs of Dutch-brewed Heineken in cans, which offer a completely different (and much better) taste. Of course, the beer still won't be to everyone's taste, but I'd imagine it'd be a lot more authentic, and like what you previously reviewed on the Blade. Maybe a review of the aforementioned canned version versus a canned non-UK San Miguel would be something to consider (I don't "think" you've previously done this, but I might be wrong)? Anyway, cheers!
When I was in Gibraltar, on the 29th of November, 2023, I drank a liter bottle of the Spain-brewed San Miguel, and I enjoyed it. Of course, Heineken was in every beer outlet, too.
Simon maybe change it up a bit and do some blind battles. Could stick names at the bottom of glass and mixed the glass's up
I don't drink foreign beers brewed in the Uk! Why would you ffs?
Cat sick vs rat piss.
Overwhelmingly teeth rotting taste of glucose syrup & very little else 🤮
Pretty sure I'd struggle to tell the difference
Samuel Smith organic pure brew lager is brewed in the UK, superior to both of these lagers on review
Samuel Smith Organic Pure Brewed Lager is good beer. When you're in a pub next, check out the people who drink Heineken and San Miguel. Do you think those kinds of people can appreciate a beer as good as the aforementioned Samuel Smith's?
You're exceedingly harsh on Heineken in my opinion. It's literally one of the better macro beers out there. Good malt flavour, won't give you a headache (unlike San Miguel) and very very consistent. It is infinitely better than the actual bad ones like Carlsberg
There is no such thing as won’t give you a headache everything will give you a headache if you wasn’t hydrated enough or drank to much
@@Jhizzle2495 I'm talking about the beers that give you a headache if you only have one or two and are properly hydrated. That should have gone without saying
I had the heineken out of a can recently i found it slightly better than out of the bottle having said that i would rather have a perlenbacher or rienbacher
Good solid lager san Miguel...much better than madri
Estrella Damm v Victoria Malaga next please
I would say Heineken but that's really more of a better of two bad beers. Mainstream lagers use to be so much better until ABV cuts and UK brewed versions.
There's a reason why we call it Heineken Piss in 🇩🇪...
Bubbles looked humongous! Nasty
I dont mind Heineken but San Miguel is the superior beer especially from a bottle
i prefer beer in cans for that reason. heinikans main selling point for me is that it is one of the few widely availible lagers at 5% abv
2 crap beers UK and NL /ESP versions.
If the Heineken can or bottle says 'brewed in the uk and Netherlands' then its uk brewed. If it only says 'brewed in the Netherlands' then it's brewed in Holland and is usually better. As far as i know its only the 330ml cans that are not uk brewed due to lack of demand, and stores like Waitrose used to actually call the 330ml cans 'Heiniken holland' on their app/website for this reason. Would like to see you do a uk vs Holland Heineken.
both crap uk versions
I was in Spain last year and when in a bar my mate bought me a pint of St Miguel without asking. I was quietly thinking f***s sake not that pish. But it was nice, definitely different to UK swill.
Phillipino beer, not Spanish lol
A huge fan of Real Ale channel ❤... Simon you are a master
I think it’s fair to say both these beers are trash. Most of these big brewery produced beers are not good beers most of the time in my opinion. How often do you drink one and say that was lovely I’ll have another, you don’t but you do with a good craft beer.
Can you do a review of the bottles vs the blade / sub / PD kegs of these beers - would be interesting to see the difference.
Could you review the Heineken in the 330ml cans, those are imported from the Netherlands 👍🏻
Love the comparison review. I´d rather drink Estrella Galicia over either of these. In Spain, most of the Heineken is brewed in Andalucia in the south, and is worse than the original from the Netherlands.
I think Heinekin was the first beer I ever had back in 1960. I was 14 but big for my age so could get into the local, plus the landlords didn't care much about underage drinking back then.
It was in a half pint bottle and I had it with a dash of lime. I don't remember draught lager coming out until a few years later when they served Carling Black Label in my local.
I never really liked Heinekin and soon switched to proper beers like mild, bitter and porters.
Lately I've come to detest Heinekin and what they've done to some English brewers. Newcastle Brown Ale is a prime example. It used to be a beer that I really liked but now it's just undrinkable. I don't think being brewed by John Smith helped it either.
As for San Miguel, I don't care where it's brewed, it's just awful. Too sweet and sickly.
When I go to Spain, I look for Mahou Maestra Dunkel or Amber Negra. A much better alternative to the usual insipid lagers.
Try and get hold of some Heineken brewed for the Irish market. It’s 4.3% and in my opinion far superior and balanced compared to the 5% stuff over here. As for San Miguel, awful stuff, rough dirty beer.
I'm sitting here drinking a 330ml bottle of heineken from a box of 12 and really liking it.
If you really dislike green bottles. Why not buy in cans?
Simon, we need the definitive comparison video. Peroni Gran Riserva vs Rossini Gran Riserva! As I type this comment I already know who the winner would be as I have had both before however that's just me personally! Who would be your winner? Let Us Know!
I do love Heineken and the skunkiness.
I can't stand UK San Miguel, it tastes like stamp glue.
Definitely agree that lager shouldn't be Burtonised. English Bitter should be Burtonised.
I personally find Heineken much better than most UK brewed lagers, it's not a great beer but doesn't have that metallic watery weird taste things like Carling or Madri or Moretti have. I personally think people go in with a negative mindset just because of the brand being scummy macrobeer corpos. It's tolerable for a mass produced lager especially on draught in summer if no other decent option is available. Clearly isn't a quality product with it just using hop extract but at least there's no adjuncts or alternative grains like rice or maize to save costs ie budweiser and peroni. It's ok.
its Euro 2024 this summer! maybe you should do these country battles before every match? p.s. first fixture is
Germany vs Scotland
Just an idea but how about a World Cup style knockout tournament of international macro lagers? Round Robin, quarter finals etc... We all know Germany will win but what's new there?? 😂
I've never understood how Heineken can sell so much skunky beer. Ugh, I just detest it.
I can only drink Heineken from a can & it has to be ice cold. I don’t like the uk brewed san miguel at all, my local corner shop had some Spanish 5.4s in ages ago which became a go to until they ran out 😥
I prefer San Miguel personally, cheap and gets the job done but doesn't taste like poo like Heineken.
Went on my hols and Heineken was the beer on draft in the hotel and it was just as I remember it, naff, not even UK brewed. Luckily they also had Cruzcampo Gran Reserva so at least there was something drinkable.
Just returned from Tenerife where their San Miguel is 5.4% and it does taste different to what is sold here. San Miguel here is pretty decent but it has less substance than Spain’s own San Miguel.
Whenever Heineken is mentioned I immediately think of that short scene in the 1986 David Lynch film Blue Velvet.
"f&ck that shit!" lol or something like that
@@filmscorefreak
lol quote from iMDb:
Frank Booth: What kind of beer do you like?
Jeffrey Beaumont: Heineken.
Frank Booth: (Shouting) Heineken? F**K that s**t! Pabst Blue Ribbon! That's what you'll drink tonight!
There even is a gif of this short sequence somewhere on the web.
was drinking san Mig in tenerife 3 weeks ago - delish, but supping beer on a hot day in Feb makes anything taste great
I like a heineken one of the better mainstream beers. Guess the heineken doesn't have the uk water taste?
Which one does the least damage to your pot plants..
San Miguel brewed in northampton, not burton
The Heineken Silver is nicer cos brewed in Holland
You need to get Old Peculier for the PD. Top notch.
I decided years ago that if a beer comes in a clear/green glass bottle, I'll buy the can version. No skunkiness. Heineken, brewed here in Cork, Ireland tastes different than the UK I buy in the North of Ireland and it's different from the Dutch Heineken also sold my local off licence.
Heineken is Irelands best selling lager, but it's 4.3% and very distinctive. It's actually tastier than the 5% UK brewed Heineken for sure. Even on offer, I'd rather buy the Irish Brewed Heineken at a lower ABV, because of the water quality it's brewed in. The same water Murphys and Beamish is brewed in and was for so so long.
The Dutch canned Heineken in my local off licence is really malty. It's not as crisp as the Irish brew, but it's definitely sweeter but hoppier.
I'd definitely send you a Dutch Heineken & Irish Heineken to compare with UK Heineken to compare.
Hard, slightly farty water 😂
Your Channels Called Real Ale Craft Beer. That’s why i rarely drink top brand beers.
I love that skunky smell when you open it,it’s better than any other box of lager.
Its Dutch hasn't it gotta taste skunky 😂😂
Ian, thanks for drinking these, so I don't have to! Avoid if at all possible.....
Exactly. Simon should be on danger money
would I choose either if there was a better beer on the menu - absolutely not. But in 43° heat I would drink either and enjoy it.
Absolutely Simon, the hotter it gets the more refreshing I want my beer
This got to be beer tasting hot ones! 😊
San mig is the best of a bad bunch
As times get harder, the beers get worse, especially from the big breweries!stick to German or Czech lagers,Simon.
Too many good beer reviews on this channel recently ! Nice to get back to some face gurning crappy beer battles again 😂😂
Heineken from the Sub is 100 times better than the bottles and cans.
San Miguel is brewed at Carlsbergs vast lager factory in Northampton not Burton
The water in Northamptonshire is hard
proper Heineken export is pretty good, otherwise its just ok, nothing special
Horrendous beer.
Hertog Jan is much better!
Rubbish vs rubbish
I really do believe that they dont say where exactly Heineken is brewed because they dont want their drinkers to realise its brewed in the UK
I drink Heineken silver and grolsch in cans on a school night whilst watching football as not to be hungover the morning after , both brewed in holland . San miguel is 5.4% abroad and imo a really nice beer , the uk brewed stuff is barry white
Or in very very very very very very small writing brewed in the UK!! Ha
330ml cans of Heineken are 100% brewed in the Netherlands
San Miguel is terrible even the Spanish brewed version
Neither are that bad omop
Heineken =shit
Heineken 1- San Miguel 2😉
Cheers from BRANTFORD Ontario
whatever they put in a green bottle ... i'm already done with it
Farty water 😂😂😂
Love these Vs videos
Nothing worse than 'farty water'!
here in Thailand I can drink Heineken original brewed in Thailand and San Miguel brewed in the Philippines, they are both decent beers with different characteristics ....I give them both a 7 out of 10....
Heineken for me is far better then San Miguel Especial
