Some hueys with door gunners would be able to knock down entire swarms of the normal warrior bugs without even being in danger.
But they'd be obliged to play "that" song throughout.

@@worldcomicsreview354 If they had followed the novel then the soldiers would suited in massive battle armour and jump pack that allowed them to fly. And some of them would carry tiny nukes that would probably one shot that humongus bug.
@@michaelpettersson4919 Not really as massive as Marauder, but much more agile. On the other hand, novel bugs were also much more intelligent, had their own spaceships and used some kind of armor piercing railguns/disintegrators that while not really that lethal they could easily punch holes in pretty much anything. Overall, both sides were massively more powerful and it was implied that they actually respected each other and it was just nothing personal war for resources and habitable planets. Other alien race were an absolute afterthought that needed to avoid stepping on the toes of those two giants.
@@Aurilion44 I know, the novel begins with a penitantary raid against one of the bugs allies in attempt to force them to withdraw from their alliance. I read the novel as well.

Seems like the C RAM would be better at hitting things from the flanks of the base, where they could get some coverage on the base as well

Yeah, I was thinking the same. Spacing them out at opposite ends of a V or U with machine guns and flamers along the bottom of the walls. Then a pair of hmgs at the choke point of the base.
Mental Note: Call in giant shooty robot *behind* the walls. Actually it feels like it was designed to be that way. Guns on the edges instead of the middle to funnel them in, soldiers in the middle to kill breakthroughs, giant robot in the inner-middle to hold the final waves.
You would think the guy put in charge has never seen starship troopers before, the way he set up defences.
I lost it when the big robot got melted almost immediately. 😂
Love how the C-RAMS were really only great at shooting like 4 bugs out of the sky, they seemed pretty useless ngl. If they could switch targets or prioritize colossal targets, etc, then I'd be more excited over them, but it looked like they barely did the job of another player w/ a standard rifle. Am I wrong here?
Nope and to be honest I think a rifle man would have done a better job
They were OK at killing airborne bugs that were beyond visual range, but up close, it looked like they had a tough time tracking targets. The bugs close the distance so fast nothing much helps from the looks of it.
they need 2 crams and nearly 2 seconds of constant firing to kill a single bug, they looked good but they shot nerf darts

The players rifles seemed to do more damage than 20mm rounds at 4,500 rpm?

Instead of a defensive base, I wonder if you can build a sort of funnel, where you guys setup at the narrow end, let them come through the other and just shoot till ammo runs out.

Well I haven't played Squad yet but I remember from the first film that these bugs can dig underground tunnels so that means they can just invade from underground. And since underground bases are much more expensive to build I guess it would be better to go for air superiority.

Yeah those c-rams are pretty and sound great, but you still need to shoot the ground bugs lol.
I always found it odd that in the "Starship Troopers" timeline, where humans have mastered interstellar travel, built massive spaceship armadas, and can miniaturize nukes to be carried by a single person they're still using automatic weapons with bullets and couldn't come up with anything better then some flimsy looking walls for a base

But if I'm being honest, I enjoyed "Starship Troopers". I liked it for what it was. It didn't take itself to seriously. Good battle scenes. Decent CGI. I think it's underrated

The marauder was a little more than a speed bump for the bugs
I always wondered why the future didn't have automated turrets in the movie.
A lot of it had to do with deployment speed versus production speed. When they originally landed on Klandathu they didnt expect such a strong enemy. As humans, we have a tendency to underestimate other species as inferior. Regardless, we didnt go to bugs expecting to have to fight and as such we didnt equip ourselves as well as we shouldve. By the time they started rolling out Marauders is when we were better equipped. Thats part of why a majority of the battle rifles didnt have sights. They were pumped out so quickly that they didnt find them necessary for fighting bugs.

@@lifeisa.smalllesson4607 In the novel theres a portion where theyre discussing how poorly the attack on Klendathu went and one of the characters mentions that if only they didnt underestimate bugs that could strategize for bugs found on earth that they wouldve been better equiped. Also in the movie during one of the news bulletins following Klendathu they make mention of actively working to better equip troops to match the bug threat. EDIT: Also in the Marauder movie theres a whole line by Admiral Aoki when he reveals he worships the bug god about how the corps was so confident that they didnt even equip their rifles with iron sights.

Pretty true to Starship Troopers Lore. After all, humans can't hit the broadside of a bug infested Battleship with the most advance Earth Defense Spacestation Defense Platform. The EDF do better at killing bugs than Troopers. Should have requested a Air Raider in your sector, lol.

That Maurader was giving me flashbacks of a mechwarrior atlas..lol
Few things. Some basics in fort construction. Might consider building those Hesco Bastions outside the fort in a V formation, causing a choke point in front of the fort. Choke point = enemy blocking their own advance. The dude commenting on the C-RAMs placed at the corners is a good one = overlapping fields of fire. Also, looks like there isn't "friendly fire", so build flamers in front and sides of the radio, plus build some more Hesco's in front and sides of the radio with turrets inside and out of the radio bunker.
Your overall strategy is to build a layered, ablative defense. Might consider a mott and bailey construction with two walls, inner/outer rings, inner higher than outer, creating a killing ground between. I'm not sure if the game allows a double height wall, but you could try it. Place some more Hesco's inside the killing ground breaking up a constant forward advancement. Make them go around. If they are moving they aren't attacking a wall.
Also, the guy suggesting mortar placement was a pretty good one, since you kept getting overrun by the heavies breaking the walls allowing the littles to get in and threaten the radio.
Just some suggestions.

IRL The CRAM(Counter Rocket Artillery, and Mortar) Fires a tracer round every 5th round. It is the United States Military's AA Gun of choice for convoys and embassys.
Gotta electrify the legs and feet of that marauder or give it some type of mine throwing capability
Seems awful fragile for something so huge and the C-RAMS seem a bit weak vs those itty bitty fliers. Fun to look at, but as mentioned by the guy driving it, anti-climactic.
I mean those massive white towers on the top are the computers so yeah I'd say they are pretty weak against any sort of fire against them

That would be bloody awesome! Make some hills, heavies to defend, medium to lay down turrets and let light jet pack troops (true to source, sort of for Starship Troopers also) Ski around in the air playing light defence.

I realize this is a game based on the movies and both are for relaxation and stress relief.
But we have had very effective bug spray long before the book was even written. In reality we would have just fumigated the bugs from orbit.

Hyped up the marauder all that time only for it to do basically nothing. The C-RAMS should be able to target everything and you should be able to have at least 4 with the ability for them to prioritize the colossal bugs. I don't care what kind of chitin armor those bugs have they aren't standing up to the kind of firepower a C-RAM can bring to bear.
Huh I made a wave comment earlier, about not killing the little guys before the defenses are up and given the age of the vid, Ewok learned it before I said anything. I'm still happy with that cause the lesson was learned, but now I have the shame of realizing I had nothing to do with it. Such a mixed feeling.😖
