  • It’s not easy being 17-year-old Aza, but she’s trying... trying to be a good daughter, a good friend, and a good student, all while navigating an endless barrage of invasive, obsessive thoughts that she cannot control. When she reconnects with Davis, her childhood crush, Aza is confronted with fundamental questions about her potential for love, happiness, friendship, and hope. Turtles All the Way Down is a new MAX movie adaptation of a John Green novel by the same name. Turtles All the Way Down stars Isabela Merced, Cree, Felix Mallard, Judy Reyes, Poorna Jagannathan, and Hannah Marks. Should Turtles All the Way Down be on your watchlist? I think you're missing the point, the mystery was never really the story. I actually think it was an intentional red herring to lure people into a "fun teenage mystery flick" and instead gave us something meaningful and deep. Which I personally loved. Nothing like being pleasantly surprised with a movie despite the synopsis underselling it.

As someone that watched it, this is a pretty accurate review!! I loved the mental health representation. I do wish the mystery was handled a bit better too.

I agree with your citicisms of this film, and have the same ones, but as someone who struggles with OCD himself this film was ectremely affecting. It doesnt come across as a guilty pleasure to me at all, its an honest portrayal of what it means to have OCD; the pain, the guilt, the self hatred, and strained relationships.
I like your take a lot but eanted to add my own as well. Thank you for the great review!

So many great romcoms and love stories, but I think _Say Anything_ is my go-to.

I remember reading Turtles All the Way Down when it came out and am excited to check out the movie! But the question is, did you like it better than The Fault in Our Stars??

I like The Fault in Our Stars way better than this. That is a spectacular movie and not anywhere close to a guilty-pleasure! Now that I'm thinking about it, I'll probably give it a rewatch this weekend!

Fave love story...my wife's is easily Pretty Woman. Mine would be...Some Like It Hot (1959). My Sassy Girl (2001) was also great. Her, Love & Other Drugs, Ten Inch Hero, She's Out of My League, Crazy Rich Asians, Eternally Confused and Eager for Love was a great recent series...Silver Linings Playbook (2012) is *excellent* - have you bloody well seen it as yet Chris!??? ;-p
