The self-aware humor was great. My favorite was in one particular episode that went down this whole "humanity vw robots" rabbit hole and either Jake or Adam said, "gee, remember when this cartoon was just about a boy going to school with animals?" Or something like that.
the humor got more weird and meta in the later episodes, it was genuinely pretty funny sometimes. seems like a show the creators had fun working on if anything
This is what happens when you allow Cartoon Network to literally let a show like this exist I blame the executives of the net work they clearly did not know what the fuck they were doing especially the guy who created the show all because the kids name was lying I mean come on that’s a lazy joke
I remember one specific episode from this show and that's when someone brought in a diamond door knob I think it was and it hypnotised everyone to say "pretty pretty shiny shiny"
I totally remember this show, obviously the theme song is stuck in my head now, but my biggest memory of this show is actually that one flash game they made of it. You like play as Adam running around the school and collecting stuff but I don't remember any specifics of the game. I think Jake would like throw you around the map or something.
After seeing each of the supporting characters one by one I think to myself; "Why do i barely remember this show, but clearly remember every single character's voice?"
The one thing that really stuck with me about this show is my blind niece was born when this was airing and the talking butt episode when he goes "what are you looking at" would make her laugh hard as hell every time. I learned how to do that voice just to make her laugh and it's onebof my favorite memories from that time
Lol! I remember that episode perfectly even to this day. The funny face he made when he painted his tail and butt, then going "WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING AT?" followed by "OKIDOKIE!"
Looking back, I actually really like Bull's design? Like it's never good to bully others, but the fact that they took such nerd stereotypes (braces, needing an inhaler/apparatus to breathe/wheezing from what I remember) and gave it to the bully in a visually appealing way (headphones) kind of turned the tables on expectations. Edit: it also added to the perspective of "Adam is so uncool even the nerds are bullying him" in a way like other media lol
This was one of my favorite shows growing up. The show was colorful, the animations were whacky, it was loud for my kid attention span, and I love shows with animals. This show will always have a special place in my heart

Unfortunately I can’t say I enjoyed this one too much. I think it may have come out right at that point where I was becoming more interested in story-driven plot lines and couldn’t quite be lured in by fart jokes anymore, but it definitely sticks out as a show I mostly only watched if there was nothing else to listen to while I worked on my homework. I’m glad to get a better look into the series for what it was though! I hope those who enjoyed the show appreciated the blast from the past :)

Lately, I been reminiscing on old cartoons I watched in my childhood and My Gym Partner’s a Monkey was one of those cartoons that popped up in my head. The one thing I remember most about it is Adam, Jake and most of all Principal Pixiefrog. And the fact that it ended because the creators and executives decided it was time, is a surprise. This gotta be put on HBO Max one day
I definitely remember watching this show when it aired and thinking it was alright. But it’s not the reason for my great fondness of it. No, that would be the game that was on the CN website. It was probably my favourite game on the site, when I think about it. The map was huge, from a kid’s perspective, and I still think there were some parts I haven’t seen, even with the countless hours I spend playing. Sad that all those old games are not available anymore.
I won't lie the main thing I remember from this show is the character designs. It's always fun to see how or even if animated shows choose to anthropomorphize talking animals.
My math's teacher in year 10 was a fan of this show, and particularly liked quoting the Superintendent Wolverine line "Do I have to bite you on the buttocks?" Most people in the class weren't familiar with the show, which made the line come across a little unusual out of context.
This cartoon holds so many core memories in my childhood. The Cartoon Network era with My Gym Partner's a Monkey, Camp Lazlo, Grim Adventures of Bill and Mandy, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, Chowder, and so many other PRIME cartoons. Will forever be missed
My mom remembers this show. One time, out of nowhere, she asked me if the show was still on and I said "No." -- she only remembers it because of the theme song xD
A joke I always liked from this show is in the sleepover episode where Jake tries to get Adam to lighten up and have some fun with the boys. Jake prank calls someone pretending to be principal pixie frog and tells them school’s been canceled next week only to be revealed that Jake actually called principal pixie frog himself. Not only that but principal pixie frog was still groggy from being woken up in the middle of the night so he ends up buying Jake’s story. 😆
That scene is hilarious, but an even funnier scene was when Adam attempted to prank call Lupe into believing he was Principal Pixie Frog with his hilariously horrible impersonation of him. 🤣
I used to love this show but I was always sad that Adam never got to go back to a regular school. I really felt his despair sometimes and I was glad I had a human last name 😂
I was only able to catch a few episodes of this show when it was airing, due to unfortunate life circumstances. But what I did get to see was decently funny. "My Gym Partner's A Monkey" is a good show, probably something I'd watch as background noise as well
This channel is great, almost every video is about a show I remember but would’ve completely forgot about if I didn’t see these videos. It just opens up memories I forgot I even had
I remember that one short from _My Gym Partner's A Monkey_ where Adam and Jake were taking a hibernation test by staying up all night and succeed only to fall asleep on the streets and got late for class.
I always remember how jake did well on a test and all the animals started attacking him because they "feel threatened." People are actually like that in real life. It's astonishing. Never under estimate how insecure people can be.
This was a show that, if you asked me, I probably would've said I didn't like it very much, but looking back, I never changed the channel when it came on. I always sat and watched it. I'm not sure if that says something about the show, or about me, but it sure says something.

I know this video isn't about Krypto the Super Dog but you mentioned it and I feel compulsion to talk about my strange relationship with that show. I watched one episode of it (it was one where Krypto takes the place of an old Firehouse dog, titled something making a jab at the "you can't teach an old dog new tricks" saying) but I loved it. In 1st grade we had a project to draw the different stages of a hurricane and for mine, in the stage 5 section, I drew Krypto saving a kid who got carried away by the hurricane. Well apparently the project was also a competition and I won said competition and got some neat books about different natural disasters. Anyways that's it for my ramblings about Krypto the Super Dog on a video about My Gym Partner's a Monkey!
Hey Arnold thanks for covering this Ernest. My buddy loves this series and comments on it alot. So it's cool to see a review of it and finally get a more general idea of the series. Wishing u a Merry Christmas again. Hope things get better for both u and the channel.
I actually watch the ads on your channel because you put the ad breaks right before them and I them and I think that's hilarious and watching them helps the gag.
Ya, I remeber this show poorly. Looking back, the jokes as a whole, were ok, but I didn't like Jake as a character or as a delivery system for butt jokes. I have no good memories of the show, but I don't have bad or hateful ones either. I remeber the show being boaring to me, which for a cartoon might be worse then being bad.
I didn’t mind the show but looking back, the butt humor can be a little tiring but overall I enjoyed the show. I remember playing the two games, Call of the Wild and The Big Field Trip on the Cartoon Network website. I recalled the creators pitching a revival of the series but the network was not interested in it.
@@jakethebutt Basically, it was gonna be about older versions of the characters but the network rejected it. I think Adam was gonna be a principal but that’s it

The concept always bugged me; it actually would have been much more amusing that they pick a human kid as a test subject or something like that instead of, well a naming error, but I guess that's when "rule of funny" sets in, but when it's bugged me for this long...it's more awkward and clunky if anything.
Not gonna lie the thing that kept me from investing in this show is the premise that Adam is stuck at the animal school just cause of a last name goof. I get rule of funny, but it really stretches that thin premise to its breaking point. Least it is good to know this show had a following for the people who stuck with it and it ended on its own terms. Always nice to hear.

To me that show always felt so underrated.
This is one of my favorite cartoons growing up, thanks for the video, I needed to be reminded this show exists. Top Tier cartoon man.
When the main characters name is the same as your own, you tend to remember it more.
The shark with water headphones is a cool design though
do u care about your fellow human tell me u care about me i care about you
I know this video isn't about Krypto the Super Dog but you mentioned it and I feel compulsion to talk about my strange relationship with that show.
When the world needed him the most...
But seriously, it was such a great show. And the theme song was a banger.
Hey Arnold thanks for covering this Ernest. My buddy loves this series and comments on it alot. So it's cool to see a review of it and finally get a more general idea of the series. Wishing u a Merry Christmas again. Hope things get better for both u and the channel.
They need a reboot called "My Gym Partners an NFT" 💯
I actually watch the ads on your channel because you put the ad breaks right before them and I them and I think that's hilarious and watching them helps the gag.
Slips a hippy snake 😂😂
This is just pure nostalgia 😩
And yeah do Robot Boy next
That was also a great cartoon
I would love to see him do robot boy next
This show isn't that nostalgic imo lol.
Oh man, Krypto the Super Dog was a show I forgot I even knew of until you mentioned it. I used to love that show.
Absolutely loved this show!!
Your entire channel is predicated on the premise that I don’t actively know and think about these shows most of the time
Some episodes were pretty funny. The one with the glass doorknobs hypnotizing the animals led to a recurring joke between me and my sister lol
God this show brings me back, I remember sitting in my room watching Cartoon Network on my box tv and reading comics in 2006.
I remember this show, but the memories aren't very fond. Some jokes and writing hit pretty well, others missed. An overall, ok show.
This was my fav show for a loooong time. Used to wake up every morning during elementary school to watch it. Thanks for the reminder :)
I didn’t mind the show but looking back, the butt humor can be a little tiring but overall I enjoyed the show. I remember playing the two games, Call of the Wild and The Big Field Trip on the Cartoon Network website. I recalled the creators pitching a revival of the series but the network was not interested in it.
wdym they pitched a revival
@@jakethebutt Basically, it was gonna be about older versions of the characters but the network rejected it. I think Adam was gonna be a principal but that’s it
@@kjsuperstar1798 oh
U just opened a whole can of memories when u finally helped me remember the show zixx
Loved until I hit puberty got distracted with training I wish I held onto my youth just a little longer I love your vids you are a legend Fringe sir I miss the days of old
In another 20 years there will be an oldies station just for 80s 90s 00s shows
Already is, it’s called boomerang, except when we were younger all it had on it was Scooby Doo haha
i was just watching clips of this show and couldnt find a full episode so glad you covered this.
Before becoming Luna Loud she started out as an ordinary boy from a more hyperactive boy as Chum-Chum!
Dude I was scrolling down youtube and seen the title of this video and you unlocked so many memories that I forgot I had lmao
Yes! I remember *"My Gym Partner's A Monkey."* And I absolutely enjoyed watching the series. 😁
I don't know how, but your filling in a lot of lost tv show names... saves me the google!!! Love it
Who else remembers the Cartoon Network games on the computer 😂😂😂
The one thing I'll never forget about this show. Was principal bullfrog screaming "Hey you two! NO FORBIDDEN DANCE!". At their prom...
Pixiefrog, Jake Spideemonkey, Jake’s dad, and Winser are the best in this show
Finally, a show i know!!!
Good job. A lot of these shows are right from my slice of time glued to CN
The concept always bugged me; it actually would have been much more amusing that they pick a human kid as a test subject or something like that instead of, well a naming error, but I guess that's when "rule of funny" sets in, but when it's bugged me for this long...it's more awkward and clunky if anything.
Would have been more funny if it was a test subject. Bit of Dark humor
Just wanted you say I really enjoy this nostalgic content. Thanks my guy.
Thanks for watching!
Will you do a video on total drama or no I just want to know please
It's one of my favorite shows. I love how Jake pronounces Grrl in that one episode, that deep growl he gets always makes me laugh
I’ll never forget but u reminded me how crazy that show was lol 😭😭💜 HAPPY NEW YEARS 2022!!!!🙏🏾💜
