Yet people crave Souls games (and Souls likes) these days and this particular Demon's Souls ending with the line "Bring more souls!" feels more fitting than ever (while also feeling like some sort of ominous foreshadowing of what was to come).
I also think the "evil" ending as canonical, because that was what the purpose of God was all along, from the very beginning: wipe out his creation due to human malice, through the Old One. However, there's no indicative that there'll be any restart after this ending. Just... it all ends.

This song alone defines Demon’s Souls’ lofty, melancholy mood and should be what the remake strives to encapsulate and build upon. They seemed to have missed out on so many important musical subtleties. Terrible shame.
Same, the original uplifts the melancholy moods; they still stay quiet, isolated...low; it never feels like the score is inspiring your victory, or lifts you out of the sinking swamps (the original tracks feel like you're looking up, maybe in hopelessness or tangarity, the original feels like it's trying to lift you out of that location); like, take Maiden Asteria's theme; hopeless, in the remake they've turned it into some sort of "epic" assuring Orchestral piece, inspiring you to fight Garl Vinland; it's supposed to invoke the opposite, make you question your morality. The remake ruined the tone.

I can't wait to see how they re-recorded or remastered this track. It always instill in me a great sense of power but at the cost of one's sanity. Those violin melodies literally cut into your soul
One thing I noticed about this theme is that it shares a similar motif with the music from the intro, a clear reference to how you are allowing the scourge to live on and devour the world.
A little tit bit from the game. The reason why we couldn't go to where the 6th arch-stone would have taken us (the land of giants) is because we were already there. The Nexus hangs above it like a pendulum, and the final level itself where the Old One arises from the ocean is on the beached shores of the Land of Giants, which makes sense, since that is where the demons invasion started, and why the Old One makes it's home there.
this song is so powerful the whole theme of Demon's Souls is so tragic but its short and bittersweet I think of this song when I see the new version, and many comments say this, but I know that they're all right. For how long its been around, and for the most recent wonders in the music industry, this will always be my #1 favorite
"He who fights with monsters should be careful lest he thereby become a monster. And if thou gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze also into thee."
You don't like Final Fantasy's music? I love Souls OSTs and Demon's in particular, but the best game music imo is FF. Those tracks speak directly to my soul
Vuncent Jools Weird stuff... Reaper Titan Nah, I can exclue that since I always had either white or neutral Character Tendency. Only what you do at the END of the game changes the ending... and supposedly changes the credit song as well. But even though my first playthrough was good ending... still, this.
This is by far the superior version. The remake version is a good song in its own right but to be completely honest it isn't this song. It's entirely its own thing. It tries to expand on the melody way too much and ends up losing the simplicity that made the original so impactful. The slow piano and swooping violin melodies are what make it haunting and melancholic but they're all but drowned out in the remake with complex additions and chorus. They tried too hard and ended up with an entirely different song.
It happened for all of them. Only the king Allant remake ended up improving, bit that's only if you've played the original to recognize the original maiden in black theme that the song is based off of. Which they completely changed for the remake, so now the song ends up being a reference to a song NO LONGER IN THE GAME.
@@deathahoy8971 It's not a good thing, it's tragic. The original Demon's Souls has been stripped of its online features and will remain confined in the PS3 forever, while the american knock-off will be carried to the future. I would have preferred no remakes or remasters at all over this.
I hope they keep the original OST for the original demon's souls in the remake, I mean, I'd like it to be altered a little bit, but this song in the remake would be fantastic.
"Life" in a nutshell. "Those who fight monsters should be careful, lest they become one... For when you gaze into the Abyss, the Abyss also gazes into you..."

@@Kmi_Sama I'd say it is still worth saying what's on your mind. Either they could come back around, or someone else could be potentially enlightened by your thoughts. What were you gonna say?
I love the subversive story: how it lures you in to save this place...only to make you lose faith, though since you're trapped here now you must finish the quest you undertook. It's just like the Nexus, or the Old One; it's the same kind of theme in the story. Of retired faith imprisoned in purpose.

I think of this song when I see the new version, and many comments say this, but I know that they're all right.
For how long its been around, and for the most recent wonders in the music industry, this will always be my #1 favorite
I love reading the comments from before the remake was announced.
The optimism that ended up squashed.
So much misguided hope
We dared to dream of something good, ah but the monkey paw did do its work in the end… Truly a tragedy.
What an astonishingly beautiful song. I sincerely hope that that Shunsuke Kida will be a part of Dark Souls.
360p has never sounded so good!
And people say that the original OST was poorly recorded and had bad sound quality, smh.
@@theatheistbear3117 Well it was and it did, the trumpets in most of the tracks sound absolutely horrendous.
@@slinttu1378 The trumpets sound fine. Certainly better than any MIDI ones.
wow, that is just a masterpiece.
"He who fights with monsters should be careful lest he thereby become a monster. And if thou gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze also into thee."

This is literally the only soundtrack in all of gaming and music that makes my eyes water.
You don't like Final Fantasy's music? I love Souls OSTs and Demon's in particular, but the best game music imo is FF. Those tracks speak directly to my soul
@@Walamonga1313 They're too anime.

Fun fact: I never once even heard of the song "return to slumber" though I did play the good ending twice at the very least... I always got this one.
maybe it has something to do with the character tendency? (i haven't completed the game yet so it's just a theory)
Got the opposite
Vuncent Jools
Weird stuff...
Reaper Titan
Nah, I can exclue that since I always had either white or neutral Character Tendency. Only what you do at the END of the game changes the ending... and supposedly changes the credit song as well. But even though my first playthrough was good ending... still, this.
This song, in retrospect it foreshadows and embodies the tragedy that is the remake, and how it befouled demon’s souls to it’s very core…
Amazing listening to this. Especially while seeing your greasy reflection on the TV screen.
The new one is incredible but this is just something else. Chills
this is the best ending theme of all the souls games
much more impactful than the remake version
One of all time
This is by far the superior version.
Which they completely changed for the remake, so now the song ends up being a reference to a song NO LONGER IN THE GAME.
remake is rubbish
@@deathahoy8971 It's not a good thing, it's tragic. The original Demon's Souls has been stripped of its online features and will remain confined in the PS3 forever, while the american knock-off will be carried to the future. I would have preferred no remakes or remasters at all over this.
@@nautilus2612 I would like to say that I respect you opinion and you as a person are valuable. Just as Ukrainians are valuable in todays war.
@@deathahoy8971 Bro... this is a thread about Demon's Souls music, it has nothing to do with Ukraine
I hope they keep the original OST for the original demon's souls in the remake, I mean, I'd like it to be altered a little bit, but this song in the remake would be fantastic.
yikes
aged like cyberpunk
@@LeEnnyFace pretty much
I've already listened this 20 times today.
Oh... One of a kind...
I'll never forget the poetic spirit that was carved in that game.
do come back alive
Demon's souls is such a good game omg
Currently having the deepest philosophical thoughts while listening to this
''should I eat pizza or pasta today?''
It finally happened, Demon's Souls is back on the PS5!

+Atakan Arıkan im pretty late to this lit party but what is that quote from
The Joker Nietzsche.
Both of those quotes fit Bloodborne as well.
Atakan Arıkan this quote is most fitting for the abyss watchers of dark souls 3 , as their only goal Is to ensure the abyss never acts again .
I don’t know the lore all that good this is all I could understand after playing the game.
one of the most epic wonderful music ever exist in games
I’m in love with the angst in this soundtrack
finally I found it.. I get goosebumps man
feels like i am drowning in darkness and despair when piano plays
I have an idea: Dragon's Souls.
Seeings that a large part of the Dark Souls Lore extended around dragons... why not? Plus I'm kinda pumped after fighting Kalameet in AotA.
not dark enough
I was gonna say some stuff, but 8 years old comment. It doesn't even matter at this point.
@@Kmi_Sama I'd say it is still worth saying what's on your mind. Either they could come back around, or someone else could be potentially enlightened by your thoughts.
What were you gonna say?

Can't wait to hear this in the remake!
so much better than the new one, bummer but kinda happy at the same time
UMBASA
The game itself is a masterpiece, one unlike any other we have seen before or will see for a while.
wow, twelve years ago. i'm pretty sure your opinion has changed after all the rest of the Souls xd
I love the subversive story: how it lures you in to save this place...only to make you lose faith, though since you're trapped here now you must finish the quest you undertook. It's just like the Nexus, or the Old One; it's the same kind of theme in the story. Of retired faith imprisoned in purpose.
this one's still better
No truer words were spoken
Amen.
Idk I think both are pretty good it's pretty hard which one is good
I love the pensive nature of this music
The Soulsborne series has some of the best OSTs.
Got really into painting this one grim decayed esk mini when this came on. Was a fun time.
One day a big mist took the majestic world of Boletaria. Since then lots of heroes and villains tried to fight through the demons that appeared and end the mist, but they all were defeated.
When all remaing hope disappeared while terror despair took the whole world, someone appeared:
Known as the Slayer of Demons, they pierced through the mist to begin their journey.
Is it because they are the one who will save Boletaria from the chaos it is? The one that will make their inhabitants have hope again that they can have a happy ending?
Is it because they want to satisfy their bloodlust, absorbing the souls of the most powerful demons and become the strongest demon ever made?
You decide, playing as the Slayer of Demons. Porter of the legendary Flute Armor.
You are going back again

AVicious Hunter would this list change now that Bloodborne is out?
AboutThisLong There are defenetly some amazing tracks in bloodborne... The thig is, the bosses are always screaming or exploding so much and it's so intense that it's hard to listen to if you don't put the music setting up.
AVicious Hunter Shit.I posted the exact same list (with the addition of father gascoigne's theme) ten minutes ago on another video.*bows*
The ONE song I wish they kept in the Remake😭💔
this is exactly the kind of music that plays when a final boss or character is explaining how it was them who was behind everything and why you needed to be the hero.
because thats exactly what happens
This should be the sound track for all souls endings!
Nameless Song is also very good.
y Cobar I find nameless song to be a weak rip off of the DeS version.
Anshd
Well, the games were created by pretty much the same people, so, I think they're entitled to that. Also, structurally, the songs are different.
this should have been the ending song for the ashes of ariandel, gaels theme should have been this, nice way to end the series
Yeah but that'd just be repetitive
I want a remaster :( Sony please
“It seems like there was a misunderstanding in a previous interview in relation to a remake or a remastering of the game, so let me reiterate here,” Miyazaki told GameSpot. “The Dark Souls series is Bandai Namco Entertainment’s IP, and Demon’s Souls and Bloodborne is Sony Interactive Entertainment’s IP. Hence, the decision to do a remake or remastering is under their jurisdiction. For me and for From Software, I don’t think we’ll be involved with their happening, but it could happen through another developer.”
Wish officially granted
The day has come. The wait is over. Umbasa.
DEMON SOULS REMAKE LET'S FUCKING GOOOO 😍
Sadly it's gonna be a remake :/
Such a sad and amazing song.
Bought the game today because of this awesome song. I really like the setting so far, a great predecessor to Dark Souls.
Wise decision.
