Holland's arrangement offered a chance to explore more soupy and atmospheric EWI textures, and you know I'm all about that! This is probably one of my favourites from the FF7 OST!
This track uses patches 14, 15, 21, and 33 of the onboard sounds of the Akai EWI 4000s.

I'm excited for the next two Final Fantasy 7 Reimagined games.
I'm not crying, and yet I want to. This has me in a blissful reverie. Now I want to do a deep sea medley for Final Fantasy! This theme + the ones from 1, 3, 5, 6. It hadn't really occurred to me that it's an archetypal deep sea FF track until this video. Anyway, thanks for making this. It touched me more deeply than almost any other thing on your channel for some reason! Maybe it's the timing- or maybe there's a longing in it that you somehow breathed into the performance.

Wonderful rendition! The sound kind of reminds me of Chrono Trigger more than FF7, dunno why.

Thanks! So, fun fact - I pulled the gameplay footage from someone's walkthrough, and had to edit around where they had onscreen text saying 'WATCH OUT FOR THAT GUY!'
If I hadn't promised my friend I'd play Fire Emblem next, your cover would've made me go right into another playthrough of Final Fantasy VII and I think it's incredible how little, not to by any means diminish your cover, it takes for me to want to go back into FF7

What instrument is this? Awesome job
Thank you! It's an Akai EWI 4000s, basically a breath-controlled synthesiser with fingering similar to a saxophone. Lots more information about it on youtube if you want to look it up!

@@briancurry6251 There's no reed, but the mouthpiece is flexible in order to detect lip vibrato. Think like a rubber recorder.
