I bit the bullet and bought a whole home generator because living in a hurricane prone location, if required to evacuate I needed something that would fire up and keep the house air conditioned, freezers and refrigerators running, preserving our food if I’m not around. I also didn’t want to have to get out in the storm during hurricane winds and rain setting up, plugging in and starting the generator…I do have a 2500w dual fuel inverter generator for other activities, so having both is a win win in my book. As a backup to a backup I also have solar, you’ve got to cover all bases👍 Honda generators are pricey but are really great generators! Great review!👍
Love seeing this review, for those that don't know, SE Michigan is serviced by DTE Energy, who is (at least to my research) consistently in the top 5 routinely for power outages. So its refreshing to see someone post about generators or standby generators in the car community. It'll be interesting to see how the prices fluctuate on those now that Ford started the trend of EV's and even FHEV trucks acting as portable generators (At this moment still a Ford Employee so I only know the Ford application 😅). Unfortunately this solution isn't for someone in an apartment complex for gasoline, I myself have been dabbling with the thought of picking up a Jackery which uses solar power, but that money could be better spent in saving for a house down-payment. But again this is dependent on how summer goes next year probably. Anyways keep on trucking Chris, loving the Honda week of information (I might have a good surprise for you in photo & video form come Thursday).
I never knew you'd be such a Honda fanboy! I'm just joking 😂 That seems like a very handy little life support machine! And seems very simple and easy to maintain. You've got a really nice backyard too btw!
I have a couple of solar rechargeable batteries but after a major hurricane you can expect a few days of overcast making solar impractical. I use the EU3200I to quickly recharge each of these batteries. The big one can run the refrigerator for more than 24 hours and the small one runs my internet and tv if necessary. I can run other things directly off the Honda generator if necessary. The portability is excellent and the quiet is necessary in a neighborhood.
@@rw9737 wouldnt say that. The gens i worked with didnt have timing belts or chains . Small ones use gears like the gx160kx. It overall though less pain in the ass to work on compared to yamaha havin different bolt sizing for every panel makin it a pain in the ass for my mechanics to fix
I bought my champion gen for 600 bucks I could buy a bunch of them compared to the price of the Honda, it’s been 6 years and no problems with the champion
I’d be interesting in a part 2, where you show how more details on how it’s connected to your house. Transfer switch or interlock kit? Would also be curious if you’re able to run the house AC, in the event of a summer power outage.
Do you know if Honda has come up with an auxiliary fuel system to go with this for longer run times if needed? Something similar to Honda 2000 I set up
Would it be possible to explain how you connect it with your electrical panel? I have a similar generator and I didn’t found any way to wire a 120v generator to an electrical panel. I am such a fan of your videos!!! Thanks from Québec,Canada!
The electrician could only wire it into one phase of the electrical panel. So half the switches work and we had to move stuff around to prioritize what got generator power and what didn’t. That’s my basic understanding of what we had to do at least…
Overpriced but I still bought one - not a rational decision but then if we only made rational decision, we'd all be driving Toyota Corollas - runs nice and always starts first pull :)
Do you plan on buying one of your own after you return that unit? I am also considering options for emergency power, mostly our heating system when the power inevitably goes out in the winter.
I would build a reasonably sized heat resistant / fireproof baffle box to set behind the exhaust to capture the majority of the sound emitted if I was using this in a suburban setting. Many of you might roll your eyes at this, but if you’ve ever lived next door to a cRaZy neighbor who calls the police over every little thing, or flings dog poop over the fence into your yard in retaliation, it’s best to just avoid that headache altogether. 😉
Man… if you start reviewing affordable automatic watches (although that Omega is very nice), and start doing quick recipe ASMR cooking videos, I’ll never watch another channel again!

Get a Reliance manual transfer switch. I have two Honda EU2200's and I installed a Reliance 306LRK at my home. I can power six 120v circuits, which is all I need for an outage.
Not a bad idea to diversify content. If you do more product reviews, I'll watch 'em.
I would also watch more product reviews. As long as its you and not a replacement.
We need the night pov review next 😂

I love how this is a POV review it's just in character of this whole channel XD

It'll blow all your fuses when VTEC kicks in!
Dig it Topher! Bring on the product reviews as well 👍
Never thought I would see TheTopher reviewing a Generator.
Definitely need an exhaust mod on this beast! Some crackles and burbles will really bring this thing alive!

I'll buy the version with VTEC.
Honda generators are super reliable and easy to maintain.
Timing Belt easy to replace?

Will every electronic in the house explode when VTEC kicks in? Asking for a friend lmao.

Hona generators are the very best most efficient that will provide clan power. I have Honda Generators that are over 20 years ole an only changed oil.
I gotta say you got a really nice garden lol
Love this change

Hey, great video thanks. Your back yard looks super green. Where in the country do you live?
Honda should’ve sponsored this video
Do you know if Honda has come up with an auxiliary fuel system to go with this for longer run times if needed? Something similar to Honda 2000 I set up
Next review video will be the Honda Jet I assume. 😂

how many miles to the gallon does it get
Can we expect an si or type r model to release in the near future?
That is an excellent question. Also, VTEC. Honda?
Well it’s a sad day due to Honda mowers and generators are no longer available for the US market.

Hi, does it have a gas shutoff valve it? Thank you

heating with fuel or electricity?
@@vipvip-tf9rw fuel with tankless boiler.
it is his generator. he purchased it.
Unbelievble

Funny story - our next door neighbor didn’t even know we had a generator because all the other generators were drowning out the little Honda 😂
it' is very quiet. i have one and you don't hear it when inside home
Does this support remote start via the app? or is it just shut off.
It’s just remote shut off, gotta pull the chord
I bought a cheaper brand and it broke after a year . Save yourself the headache and buy Honda ! This will definitely last forever!!
Catless exhaust tho, I think solar panels are the way to go in most regions
Does it have GPS and were & how to replace
What's that black SUV at the back?
Can u store it for a year and will it start?
Yeah, just use a fuel stabilizer so the gas doesn’t go bad.
You can definitely power your washer (not your dryer). You'll have to hang clothes out to dry.
Man… if you start reviewing affordable automatic watches (although that Omega is very nice), and start doing quick recipe ASMR cooking videos, I’ll never watch another channel again!
Honda motorcycle next please!
The average dishwasher uses only about 1800 watts per cycle.
You can have two eu2200 for the price of one these
that genaeror is now available for $2300.00
Predator have the same but 1/2 half the cost. JDM tax🤷♂️
Predator generators are junk compared to a Honda
How much?
$3K Canadian..
$2300.00 In America
PRICE??
too expensive 3k
Dang that’s how he got his CTR for sticker. Basically a Honda rep now
Not sure if this is a joke or not 😂
Thanks for Honda letting me use this? So you didn’t pay for it come on dude🙄🙄🙄
Why would you say something untrue?
You rich af

@@HugodAmours-j7tit mostly depends on your panel, but you always can make a sub panel
