A time when cars had lot's of big beautiful styling...... The light gold was a popular colour on alot of Mopar products when I was a kid during the 70's
I don't remember any police or troopers using the polaras, but they were great family cars that could be ordered with the hot 440.. Great memories when there were real cars in this country.
Cindy S my father was sheriff of Swain County North Carolina and he had a 72 that was dark forest green that's what I learned to drive on it was a running piece of machinery my God
i always thought his big dodge was 1 of the meanest looking cars ever....but of course the thermo-quad on that big 440 wailin-out helps make that kinda impression....BUWAAAHHH!!!
I remember going to the movies back in the day with my father to see this movie when it came out and subsequently all the other movies that came out after Walking Tall sequels they were great and I love the high speed chases in them the later ones you Chevrolet's the first movies use the Dodge and Chrysler products but they were all good it's a shame what happened to such a good lawn man!
Very nice sedan. Theres a guy I used to work with that daily's the plymouth version of this. Has been for years. Seem to be good cars just needed better rust prevention. Here in the northeastern region of the united states we see a lot of chems that eat them fast. He keeps up with it though
Ironically, the car driven by the attempted assassin at 1:10 (best seen at 1:36) is the near twin to my 'original' namesake/handle car. Bamboo Cream 1972 Oldsmobile Ninety Eight L.S. 4dr Holiday Sedan (4dr Hardtop) with a Covert Beige interior & an Almond Vinyl Roof? (Mine did not have the bumper guards, but did have the (rare) cornering lights that this one lacks)
fender gibs Back in 2005, A guy I know that was the assistant Chief Deputy in Madison Co,Tn Sheriffs Department told me that one guy that owned a construction co down there ended up with some of those Polaras. I went down there to test for the S.D. and actually met the guy one afternoon, but I wasn’t able to spend any amount of time with him to ask him what he did with the cars. Madison County is two County’s north of McNairy County. The city of Jackson is the county seat in Madison Co. The guy I knew from the Madison S.D. is Dan Parr, who is retired now. Good Day Everyone!

I've been raised watching these chasing movies. I love those 70's full size cars and I'm fortunate to keep one in my garage.
Yup nothing like a Mopar with a big Block, unlimited top end too! Miss the '70s and these great machines.
The 1972 Dodge Polara. A car so huge it had its own congressional district.
ONE OF MY FAVORITE CARS. 1972222.
I love '72 Polara's front end, its style is very distinctive.
