Cheers, this was just what I was looking for, just took 50 tonnes out of my sloped garden and levelled it. Landscapers didn't do anything with the drainage so now I have a pond - lot of clay, I reckon I can lay something similar along the lines of where it's flooding and tap into the drainage. like you did on this one.
Great video, thanks! I enjoy watching most of your videos(have not watched them all) and find them very informative. I have a quick question tho, I am planning to give a go porcelaine paving which will be 1.2m wide. Is this size Ok to not use this sort of drain? It will meet lawn since tiles will be leaning away from the house. Thanks
I have exactly the same scenario except that the nearest surface water drain is 35 feet away and tapping in to that will mean lifting a concrete path to lay the pipe to it. Would a French drain alone work or would I need to run that to a soakaway? I know, hard to say without seeing it but I'm open to suggestions.
HELP! Hi All… we have a communication lawn that floods . I think it’s on clay. We’ve planted small trees but they seamed to have died due to water logging. But we have a small trench 20feet from each of the trees could I use you’re system just to drain the water off into this trench… would a pipe either side of each tree do it? Sorry for all the questions. Thanks in advance..
Hi Johnny, Is all the membrane you're using permeable or non-permeable? or are you using non-permeable below the pipe (in the ditch to allow water to pool and rise up above your slots) and permeable covering the pipes? Been watching some videos for ideas on how to drain away the standing water at the bottom of my sloped garden so putting a shopping list together
Got a drainage job in London clay soil and think your video/work is spot on. Thanks for the good input. Quick question on what kind of membrane you used. I was going to use standard damp proof membrane under the pipe. On top do you use the same DPM or a permeable membrane? My thinking is water has to pass through to the pipe. Keep up the good work.
Hello, thank you for your comment its appreciated I hope your safe at the moment, I would personally use a permeable product my friend. Always happy to talk anytime.
Hi Johnny, what was that you used as sub base? I’ going to be diggin my patio out shortly but only want to get subbase down this year and put the flags down next year, just want a stable surface. Thanks
@@GreentopLandscapes watching a lot of your content at the moment really enjoying what you do Thankyou. what do you call a lean mix? when prepping a base like this? Ratio to type 1 stone and cement?
@@keiththemagiccat8543 I would like to know this too, we have a spring filling up at the top of our garden and I've bought mot type 1 I could do with some help and this looks ideal. I presume he mixed concrete in with the mot and bashed it down x
Also I wouldn’t recommend using plastic membrane cos the water can’t get through to be able to reach your drainage the water will sit below the plastic. Should of used proper drainage membrane
Love this video John mate, really educational on a topic that is rarely covered. A lot of people will benefit from this I am sure. Spot on.
Thank you Will

You just got to keep that water moving some how is the secret
Same here, just had garden levelled and lawned but can see pooling in a few spots so will need to do something similar
Got my pipes being delivered today. Thanks for this video, very helpful!
Glad I could help!
your a legend johnny. look at all those slots..
Lol
What membrane do you recommend for land drainage John?
Hi Steve I would use a permeable one but always check with the manufacturer , thanks for watching.

Greentop Landscapes & Design how about a permeable pipe as well?
I see you put the slots in the top of the pipe, I thought they went in the bottom. Is there a reason for that. Interesting video.
I want the water to actually get away in this situation not permaet back into the ground as it was holding up.

A Lean mix it will create a Rigid paving sub base

Nice way to stay positive about the virus mate
I hope so mate we got to try and focus don't you think?
@@GreentopLandscapes for sure mate yeah the media needs to put a positive swing on it like you said
Is the membrane a geotextile fabric ?
Yes it is
you need the slots on the bottom not the top of the pipe.
I know, but I wanted the water to get into the pipe and get away
Thanks for the video John, appreciate it. Nice positive vibes on the virus too sir. Well Done, keep going. :-)
Cheers Gareth mate thats kind mate I have alwys been positive , some just dont like it, stay safe mate
Could you join that to a sewer manhole and if could how great work mate 👌from wales
Hi Mike, thanks mate, you can not put surface water into a sewer mate.
Cant wait to leave school to start landscaping
good man
Luckily you didn’t get stopped with that tyre matey, 😂
I know lets hope this video reminds people to check?
Should of covered the pipe over with that weed control mesh to stop the slits from getting clogged up from mud eventually forming
I did
Also I wouldn’t recommend using plastic membrane cos the water can’t get through to be able to reach your drainage the water will sit below the plastic. Should of used proper drainage membrane
Its not plastic
