Thanks so much for this series. I was discouraged but finally got some flow going with transfers. This is about where I found it enjoying and zen rather than bothersome.

Could you possibly do this video again and put the complete move in slow mo after you’ve taught us the step by step moves? Thank you so much for your tutorials!

I just started begleri and your tutorials are amazing! I am having some problems with keeping the strings from moving in the bottom grip because I have skinny fingers.

Hey, I started begleri a while ago. I watched your first 2 videos . Now I started to do gap transfer , but while doing it everytime my begleri slips out of my hand , or flys away . What should u recommend to do?

Do you recommend learning gap transfers or rolls first?

I've put a lot of thought into this, and I believe gap transfers should be learned first. As I spoke about in this video, it's an important concept to start holding the bead between the joints higher in your fingers, for all grips, as you simply can't do a gap transfer with the bead in the webbing of your hand. You can, however, perform rolls in the deeper pocket of your fingers, but they will be sloppy and inconsistent, and it won't be possible to chain them. Also, gap transfers are a very string length dependent trick, so if your set is too short or too long it will become very obvious after doing a couple. Rolls seem to be less dependent on string length but then if you learn them with a string length that needs to be adjusted for gap transfers then you'll have to learn them over again.
SO, I didn't mean to write an essay, but: you can learn either trick first but be sure to start holding the bead between the upper joints of your fingers, even though you can do rolls in the pocket of your fingers. Happy practicing.

musclebones yea thanks for replying so thoroughly. I don't usually comment on videos but yea I naturally hold the string in between the middle of my fingers.
anyways, keep up the good work, can't wait for the next tut.

i really like how you present the tricks, but i think it would be so much more effective with you doing a commentary over slowmo samples repeated. Then the videos would be more dense with info and you wouldn't be showing the drops etc.

I am having some trouble with this and am wondering if you can give some advice. At the moment I am just working on the first one you showed and I have it down for the most part except I am smacking my middle finger with the bead almost every time. How would you suggest avoiding this?

Cole Kissel I'm not sure how well I explained the trick in this video since it is fairly old at this point, but what may be happening for you is that your string length may be too long, or you are not scissoring your fingers far enough, or the timing is slightly off. I will say it's most likely just the timing that is the matter, I even hit my middle finger during this trick when I miss the timing

String length was my first thought too, but if I shorten it much more some of the other things start to get significantly harder. I did notice that in the video, you were moving your pointer finger down to catch the bead and I have been moving mine more out to the side, do you think that could be it? Also, it's probably hard to explain timing in a comment but how late into the swing would you say you should start moving the pointer finger to catch the bead?
