If you imagine Spain´s tourism as an apple pie, there are only few people who get nearly the whole apple pie and many people who only get very little. Spaniards with unstable and badly paid jobs as well as high rental and living costs now want a fair share of the apple pie. That is why they are "attacking" tourists : It is the only way to be heard by their politicians who can change it. They are basically saying : "Give us more from the apple pie or we will destroy the whole apple pie so that nobody will have any of it." Isn´t their protest understandable ?
This protests are no longer only against tourists. There were also several signs "Digital Nomads go home" at the protests- Digital Nomads are not tourists. Someone who lives in Spain for 2 years reported that he has been threatened because he spoke english in public. This is a dangerous development which can turn into a general Xenophobia. The government must act quickly.
Wow, never knew its gotten to that extent... but thankfully, the government are already doing something from what I see on the news (in terms of Housing)
1st : There are nowadays many what i call : flash tourism with their big liners, or travel coatches. These people think they travel but they do not have time to see anything. Even travel has become a stress nowadays. There are problems in Italy too where people living in Venise (venitia) for example suffer from crowd invasion. But some spanish are NOT tolerants at all. Italians people are best!
Thanks for watching 🎉
