    Love the idea of civics preparedness courses. I am wondering whether one can purchase the comms pack in NZ?

      It's non-negotiable. If we don't prepare, we are sitting ducks. What do you think we need to do?

      @@JamesLaughlinOfficial During Gabrielle, Amateur Radio was a core component in providing infrastructureless communication. Individuals pulled together to help those in need with the skills they have. The twist is the orgs in charge of amateur radio communication in NZ couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery. I recently left them in utter disgust for the complete incompetence shown from people in charge of "emergency communications" in this country. When the Alpine Fault activates, you're effectivly on your own. Prepare now.

    NZ is screwed in the event of a nationwide disaster. In my West Coast town we had mass panic shopping on the first day of the Covid lockdown. People were hoarding yeast, flour, toilet paper, all the basics. There was no leadership or plan, as farmers we were never contacted to see if we needed anything like medical supplies.As such, I have made my own provisions for long term shelter in place, as I do not believe there will be anywhere safe to go to. I have zero confidence in the civic authorities, even now, its not even a topic of discussion at grassroots level. Its all a big paper based untested theoretical idea with no actual mechanism on the ground in place.

      It will be very interesting when it does indeed unfold. What can we do to prepare at a community level?

      it begins with the individual or family or household being fully prepped for 3 weeks for everything. That way the official aid will go further faster. Its seems selfish, but look after yourself is the first and right thing to do.@@JamesLaughlinOfficial

    Oh more modeling..... You can model anything. They modeled Covid and got it so very wrong. The 75% chance is from the model. If it happens you can't truly prepare for it. The modeling for the Zero Carbon seems to have failed to include that plants require carbon. So focused are we on modeling that when we look and see the faults in the model, we are discredited?
    Crazy modeler must have to justify their 'theories" and not have the ability to just deny.

      @JamesLaughlinOfficial  Год назад +3

      Thanks Ian. How did they go about modelling covid that led them down the wrong path?

    • @yourearent

      You do understand that “Zero Carbon” means zero anthropogenic emissions right? Not no carbon at all! We need carbon in the atmosphere to keep some heat in, otherwise earth would be at about -20C, not to mention that plants need it. On the other hand too much carbon is bad as well, especially for humans because it’ll simply be hotter. The amount that naturally existed in the atmosphere about 200 years ago was pretty perfect, too much more will cause problems.

      You could read the papers of the people who modelled these simulations, and you will find a very thorough explanation of their methods. Every time. All scientists do this. Also in terms of the alpine fault quake, there’s a 75% chance in the next 50 yrs. It happens roughly every 300 years as we have seen in the past by looking at the geology of the area. It is extraordinary dangerous to simply assume that it won’t happen again. It will, and we aren’t prepared at all right now

      @@JamesLaughlinOfficial Before I answer that very good question, I need to test your credibility. My appologies but I have spent far too long being run around in circles by DARVO responses and I value my time and yours. The question: "Where did SARS CoV-2 originate from, Nature, a Lab, or Other? Please keep it to an answer as opposed to a debate because we do now have the evidence that tells us the answer.

      @@yourearent Point 1: There are many credible models that oppose each other. Which one should we recognise as the truth and why? Point 2: The solutions offered by the people favouring the global crisis theory, appear to create considerable environmental issues that have not been thought out. Are you aware of them and if so, can you summarise them? Point 3: I am a minimalist. My rubbish bin is often empty because I make the effort to minimise, switch things off, think before I drive, have an economical vehicle. Its my generation's upbringing (I am 62). I know the modern generation and modern 'convenience' appliances. They tend to be wastefull. Our tv ended at 10pm. We went to bed. We didn't stay up all night playing computer games. Our power consumption was truly very little. Are you aware of the change in the environmental impact caused by newer generation's attitude to the use of power? Everything you order online has an environmental impact. Why not change the generation's understanding? I have watched the Amazon being destroyed but very little effort made to correct this travesty. Do you study and recognise the generational differences? The enviromental impact isn't our cars, it is the change in attitude. But the modern attitude is 'we want to blame everyone else but ourselves' according to psychology and the Generation analysis. My end comment: To be important, make money, take control; all you need to do is create fear because fear is the most powerfull management system know to humans. Modelers are simply trying to prove their theories and he who shouts loudest, wins.. It's a very very old game. You want a real solution? Encourage minimalisim. #eion
