  • SVT-4PRO offers an expansive palette of tonal options. The Frequency control allows you to select the center frequency for the Midrange control, giving you five distinct voicing options for the Midrange. And if thats not enough, you can use the 9-Band Graphic EQ to fine-tune your sound-or use it to set up a footswitchable second channel with a volume boost for your bass solo.

And Dino isn't kidding that he'll help you. I had a problem at one point and emailed him. He got back to me right away and worked me through the problem. Ampeg is good people and good gear.

I LOVE my Mark Bass LMII amp- it never ceases to amaze me with it's power/warmth & EQ possibilities... I STILL am an ALL TUBE bassist foremost, but when I can't be bothered luggin' a 100lb(in rack-case) amp as well as the cab, bags basses etc.... the LMII get's PLENTY of use & it does it ALL really well!!

My first 4 pro i got in 2003, the left channel fried under waranty guitar center replaced it with a new one, the current one i have worked great for 6 years untill last week and the same thing happend, running 4 ohms stereo into ampeg 8X10 2X15 cabs sounds amazing awesome. Will not buy another new 4 pro since its China Made now.

I owned one briefly, I absolutely loved it's tone and I ran it mono-bridged into a 4 ohm 6-10" cabinet, but it's 1200 watts, volume-wise didn't compare to the G-K2000RB that I once owned. I just couldn't get the headroom out of it, so I returned it.

It would be very cool if you can have independent volume control for each output channel.

Love my USA (SLM) SVT 4-PRO. The EQ is phenomenal, and the tone is HUGE, clean, clear with lots of growl and rich harmonic content. IMO, the 3-tube preamp sounds excellent. Full power is not so easily accessed, leaving some to (inaccurately) say it's underpowered.

it sounds good for real ?? i never got a chance to try the 3 pro but. i was fortunate enough to get a SVT-4 with the Ampeg 8x10 cab. im a huge Jason Newsted and Rob Trujillo fan so i wanted to get their sound as much as i can... but my understanding was that they use 4 svt-3's for their live setups so i wasnt sure if one svt-3 (since i cant afford to buy 4) was enough to power the 8x10 cab...but thats cool though glad to hear it sounds good !!

Ampeg has gone through several Management and Production changes in the past 3 decades. These changes were not of a positive nature. We know the SVT 7Pro versions one and two were defective causing much trouble for many bass players. I'm not sure if misuse is the cause of other Ampeg amplifiers to fail. After reading some of the concerns below, I should say, power tubes are for power and preamplifier tubes are for tone. Some are are under the illusion power tubes offer unbelievable tone, they do not. The Marshall VBA 400 is the most powerful bass amplifier at 400 watts. It costs $2,400.00 just for the head, you will need help to carry it. I know of several solid state power amplifiers that exceed 10, 000 watts. Some weighing less than 35 pounds. Welcome to Professional Audio. Although Ampeg customer service is excellent, I have decided to use Crown Audio amplifiers and utilize a tube preamp to make the necessary tone adjustments. For me, a powerful and reliable amplifier is best.

you need to pay attention..there is peak power and continuous power......bridged-mono..the pro 4 does 1200 watts continuous..1600 watts peak..this is with a 4 ohm cabinet......with an 8 ohm cabinet bridged mono its 900 watts continuous and 1200 watts peak....the pro 4 will not operate at 2 ohms in the bridge - mono mode..but you can run 2..4..or 8 ohm cabinets at channwls A and B......also..for the bridge mono connection..in order to get the maximum wattage..you have to use a specially wired 4 pin neutrik connector......wired +1 positive and +2 negative on the amp side of the cable..and +1 positive and -1 negative on the speaker side of the cable..

I think the 3 PRO is a great amp. & thru an 810 it'd KILL, & give HEAPS of volume. Trick w/ 3PRO is to use the GRAPHIC EQ's level control. Push this up full, ignore the clip light(to a degree) adjust yr 'tube voltage" control & U'll get a good Overdrive. I'd STILL reccomend an ALL TUBE Ampeg. An old SVT will NAIL that sound far more than a 3 or 4PRO. But if U wanna stay w/ S.S. power & tube pre-then 3PRO is a good amp! Let us know how U go.

+Santiago Arrieta The SVT-400T was a solid state amp but this is tube. The 4-Pro also has extra features like a compression knob and a load of complicated features around the back. Your English isn't bad by the way!

BAD IDEA -ONLY if U don't want the weight!!! I got a LMII AND an SVTII(300w all tube). the LMII with a sansamp pedal will get U close, but there's NO comparison to the real deal of POWER TUBES.. none of this tube PRE amp & S.S. power- need ALL tube. I admit tho, the LMII/Sansamp bass driver gets more use these days. BUT for the big gigs/important ones-the SVT ALWAYS is THE ONE!!!!

Very unreliable amp. Gutless, brittle tone and muddy in the low end register. Used one on tour part of the backline was one of these and cut out 6 times.
Mesa all the way. Louder clearer tighter and way more powerful and it's USA made
