Thanks, John, for great 450L content. My Yoshi RS-4 is louder than I’d prefer with spark arrester installed-definitely not easy to creep through a neighborhood late at night unnoticed. I’ve learned so much from your videos. Thanks again and all the best to you!! John

One advantage of the stock muffler/ pipe is it gets so flippin hot if it were clean, I am convinced you could cook on it in a pinch. LOL Thanks
I never like add-ons to bikes, but that's a nice looking muffler. When I moved to LA in '85 the smog was still bad, you would see a brown cloud form around Ontario as you drove in from AZ, and get darker all the way to LA. But it got a little better every year, and now its not too bad at all. If CA didn't have the smog restrictions, a lot of people would have health problems, and probably die a lot sooner.
I like the only use tool roll idea, yeah seemed like over coverage on the AS skid plate anyways, even my race bike doesn't cover the whole water pump area ever. Like the look of that AXP, be watching for when you install. Enjoy!
Pretty much required on a new bike these days. Intake, fueling and exhaust upgrades. A lean condition, particularly off idle makes for abrupt throttle response. Oh, and the smog? Unleaded gas pretty much took care of that.
Most of the smog equipment was geared towards capturing fuel vapors. The catolitic converter took care of the other end. But the bike is so much more lively now.
Thanks for another excellent video. Would running the Yoshi with the stock ECU hurt the bike? My Yoshi has arrived but I'm still waiting for the Vortex to be delivered (2 weeks).
As lean as the bike runs, leaning it out even more will probably make your bike run hot, at least the exhaust. Not that that in itself will hurt anything. Me, myself, I'd wait to do any sort of distances until the ECU came it. I melted my number plate!

I didn't know db meters on phones was a thing! I'll have to look into and get you a reading. IMHO it is a good bit louder, but not obnoxiously so. Now that I've taken most of the sound dampening bit off the bike, as a whole, it is louder. But i can still hear the mechanical noises over the exhaust, if that helps.
Hey, just curious how you got the sticker off the muffler can so clean? I'm looking to do the same to mine, but don't want to damage the finish or have residue left over.
There are 10 maps to choose from one the ECU. You turn the dial to the map that works with your pipe and is the type of power you'd like to achieve. There are three other dials to fine tune low, mid, and high throttle positions, AKA fuel trim. To change the map you turn the dial with a small screw driver.
