I'd like to see something like bardic knowledge type abilities. Something that doesn't do a lot game wise. But something that would help with identifying things or helping you with puzzles or the like.
Rogue is scheduled to have a mechanic like that; be able to discover/identify hidden chests and shortcuts in dungeons and things like that.
Fingers crossed everything goes well with this game. It appear to have a TON of potential

True, but to be fair the bard doesn't look like a buff bot; it looks very engaging and fun.
