After a severe weight loss in 1985 I developed signs of this disorder along with clinical depression. I was treated with haldol. It lasted about a year, then slowly vanished after I gained weight and started eating and sleeping normally, plus relaxing. I have not had symptoms since and my doctor called it acute psychosis resulting from severe depression during my divorce. It must be a living hell to live with this for a lifetime. I heard voices constantly and had some delusions. Thank God I am free of this.

Regarding the point mentioned at 12:52 about the psychosocial cause, it's no longer believed it's true. it is used to be called "schizophrenogenic mother" where family members (bw 1940-1970) thought that their early relationship w/ their children may contribute to this disorder, but then after some research, this belief was proven invalid.

In this talk, the speaker talks about the relationship between schizophrenia and childhood trauma. to me it makes sense. it might not be what occurs for everyone, but childhood trauma does effect the brain. My brother had the same issue. I had got so much tired that I had sent him to mental hospital for a year. Along with fear of what will happen next in the house the loss of reputation and respect in the neighbourhood is much harder to deal with.

I studied psychology since 2012. I sure can explain he'll alot better than that. See I'm try to find a cure for mental illness. See we all know how brain function. But I have studied more deeper than most science and research, technology, psychiatrist.
Too low and too high dopamine and sertionin which causes symptoms from schizophrenia disorder. End of syanpse and reciptor has electric signals that miss fire. Dopamine and sertionin helps with thoughts, mood, emotions, behavior, sleep. Just like your frontal lobe and temporal lobe does exactly same thing. Once two connects dopamine and sertionin to brain lobe that helps stabilize all together.

Genetics and childhood trauma
I think brain infection in the father is also a major cause of the developement of self-defeating personality/schizophrenia. So maybe do a test on patients fathers to see if they have one, just trying to help.
I could almost agree with that. My father was a schizophrenic. I too carried a lesser version of this. My 2 boys also both suffer..

You can literally hallucinate objects and beings into existence because what's happening is you're tapping into that pure abstract creative potential of mind. That's exactly what you want. Of course it can be kind of freaky but a psychedelic is that times a thousand.

Large amount of distress and disability - mostly for the people related to the schizophrenic person by blood line. And doctors still overmedicate them. I don't have to be a doctor myself to notice the signs. I'm a paramedic anyway: drooling and muscle movements that are almost zombie-like in appearance are two signs of a person being overmedicated.

Psychiatry is a field of "medicine" that openly admits it knows the least yet acts clinically and legally as if it knows the most. ie. removal of rights, forced medications and electroconvulsive therapies without concrete tests to prove clinical decisions. Often patients only get the opinion of one or two "professionals" and their advice is followed by roughly 50 or more people including nurses, family members, law enforcement ect. A highly, highly troubled area of science that needs legal protection for patients. A top down approach is dangerous when so much is unknown. Lots of cultural bias here about inferior and superior modes of thinking. For example, why do all of our minds have to develop at the same time? One hypothesis for why women perform less in STEM sciences is because the TIME that the course material is taught does not coincide with their brain development. If it were taught earlier, some hypothesize that they would be ready for it, but later in development focus on social sciences instead. This is a good example of how structural, cultural and gender biases shape what we consider to be "normal" development. A similar thing could be said for Autism.... the brain is developing at a different pace and in a different direction. Thank goodness for biological diversity! Neurological diversity should be seen as no different. I have hope for the role of Machine learning in helping schizophrenics and other mental "disorders" reach their full potential. Important to also have faith in neural plasticity

Which part of the brain affected in schizophrenia patient ??
Don't know for sure but I heard that the frontal lobe or the prefrontal cortex is inactive or damaged which if working would allow you to do things such as impulse control or controlling your actions, behaviour, knowing reality to dreams basically. I might be wrong though but I think I might just be right though. Also, I'm now starting to think that the auditory cortex or whatever is damaged or inactive to as you hear voices which literally sound as if they are projected outside, into the external world

But why do the medications cause side effects that are worse than the symptoms from the disorders? Like extra pyramidal side effects. What's with that? Surely extra pyramidal side effects are worse than any positive or negative symptoms.
The first thing that you need to do with schizophrenia is look for viruses, parasites and bad bacteria in the gut and then heal the gut

Hallucinations can be vivid and realistic, or they can be vague and difficult to distinguish from reality. They can be distressing for the person experiencing them and can disrupt daily life. They should be evaluated by a medical professional if they occur frequently or cause significant distress.
Appearance without substance. Everything is a hallucination. So this moment right now is a hallucination. It's always been a hallucination. That's what reality is. In psychology hallucination means perception without any input or data. So traditionally if you go to a mental hospital and you're telling them that you're seeing monkeys running around with stripes and polka dots, they'll say you're hallucinating.
I mean technically nothing is real and everything is a mass of particles but there's a big difference between thinking your vote counts and literally hearing voices that sound like they have distinct identities 😆

Being a neuroscientist myself in biological psychopathology and the biobehavioral effects of trauma, I think that is what caused my rheumatoid arthritis expression. If you’re not already in treatment, please seek treatment! You have the right to be as healthy as you can be mentally, which will help you later physically.

@@tech2mobile481 Haha I went to a nurse practitioners office to then go see a Dr to then get a diagnosis for MY increasingly odd behavior haha ,and SYMPTOMS THAT "APPEAR " TO BE SCHITZOID LIKE , and she said the drs that work in this building here couldn't diagnose the symptoms of the rare version of that type of schitzophrenia that I was currently experiencing that I told her I thought I had .... (maybe? even then? and there ? haha I wouldn't know though cuz those are some of those symptoms I feel like I'm experiencing haha) if ? that makes any? sense? haha don't feel bad if ? doesn't to u cuz it doesn't to me either! ...Lol!

The mind (of which psychology is the study of) is certainly impacted by environment (of which poverty is one)... yet poorly understood because human behavior has so many confounding variables impacting it and each person is unique and will be impacted by even the exact same set of confounding variables differently X(times) infinity (when you try to count the moments of life) with an exponential factor unpredictably magnifying a random moment more than others. Since behavior is an extension of thought or lack of thought, psychology cannot be contained to only the mind, which means all other human studies influence psychology.

Yeah grant money put forward towards studying this conflates poverty with other issues and ends up being used to support eugenicist doctrine that says the only people genetically affected by poverty must also belong to other social groups. Lots of money that says that mental health is an individual problem and lots of money says that poverty exacerbated illness is a racial matter, neither one willing to pay to see what's actually going on because the results were the intent and solving the problem would be terrible for profit margins.
Most people are experiencing hallucinations these days.
For instance, many peoples minds think that a car can change speeds, or that a car can stop moving all together. In actual fact, all objects, not just cars, are constantly moving, and they all move at one common speed. This constant ongoing motion takes place within a 4 dimensional environment known as Space-Time.
However, that is not how the people whom are detached from the truth, and thus are detached from reality, actually see it.
Today's physicists say that they admit that extreme embarrassment is still ongoing, and that this is the case since today's physicists still do not understand quantum mechanics, thus in turn they still have a multitude of possible explanations of what it is all about, instead of having the one and only correct explanation.
So not even today's physicists can see the truth, and thus they too are still living in an imaginary reality.

I'am a citizen who was arrested and tortured by psychiatrists. Psychiatrists have tried to kill me but I escaped at the last moment.
Why did the psychiatrists arrest me ? well, that's because I discovered that :
* Mental illness is caused by society
* Psychosis is not a disease.
* Paranoia is the first step in the right direction
* Schizophrenia is a sign of good health
Because I'm of arab origin and I discovered all these things they arrested me.

My point of view is that schizophrenia is not a disease on the contrary it's a sign of good health.
