Amazing reviews. Always consult your channel before a purchase... Freewing twin 80mm last weekend (used never flown 1/2 price). Viper 90mm shipping today lmao.
I’m a little scared to fly jets because I know they are vulnerable to stalls so that’s why I just use the apprentice mini because I can fly in intermediate mode and quickly switch to expert for a second to do a loop then go back which is why I like it because it is a learning curve and when I hit a power line and crashed it. it was one of my first planes that I could repair on my own without the help of the hobby store, plus I have a small park with many trees and power lines but a good parking lot runway so its awesome to have long landings. This jet looks amazing and excellent review, I like how you covered all of its problems and strengths. The talking over the aircraft flying is excellent and it helps me understand what your trying to picture. Great review and keep it up guys😀
Every airframe is vulnerable to a stall if it isn't something like a Habu. Learn how the airframe flies up high, then bring it low once you understand it better. You'll gain a lot of experience and avoid crashing too!
It’s really one of kind! Too bad I lost mine due to an issue with bad battery but I might get a new one in the future. It’s a must on every RC enthusiast’s list 😊
I had a flying buddy over yesterday. He was curious why I had 2 Eflite 90mm Vipers, 2 Futura v3’s and 2 FMS Bae Hawks. (And for a change none were broken, being used for spare parts) “My initial comment was- “These 3 jets are as good as they get. I tried screwing the 2nd purchases of each making them 8s.” Wish the Viper had come out 8 years ago. (And Reverse Thrust) 6s or 8s, the 90mm Viper is an engineering and design marvel. But so are the Futura and the Bae Hawk. And the Yak-130. 70mm a-10, Raphael, etc. (FMS is churning out some really good stuff)
I love mine, though I'm still trying to master the landings with it. Have close to 50 flights on it but the landing keep me on my toes, likes to flip and bounce on landings on our geo textile runway that seems to be like a trampoline, had to change tires on several of my planes to land on it. The viper is down right tuff though. Wing tips and nose cone are what seems to take most the abuse at.
Hey john! i have a question. in this video you mention something about replacing the inrunner motor to an fms one. in that case, isn't it a smarter decision to just get the FMS Viper 90mm instead of the E-flite one? since its already have an fms inrunner in it. i would like to know why is that you prefer the E-flite version and convert it to an fms motor instead of going straight with the fms version and just upgrade the servos. I will appreciate your reply
The FMS Viper comes with the same motor as the E-flite Viper. They're both FMS 1950kv inrunners. The FMS motor we're using is an 1850kv inrunner which produces a bit more thrust with lower amp draw and runs cooler as well. It also helps shift some weight to the tail, allowing for more choices with battery positioning.
Now that I'm a Viper 90mm owner, in your expert opinion, for an aggressive throttle where should I set my flight timer using the SMC HCL-HVP Flight 22.8V-5300mAh-75C? With my Viper 70mm I've three SMC HCL-HVP Flight 22.8V-3600mAh-75C and they're nothing less than uber phenomenal with ~5 minutes of flight time leaving ~28%.
My credit card hates your channel.. but thats ok because I love it haha.. I kinda got back into the hobby to the tune of almost 15k.. Nothing better then flying..
Absolutely love this channel guys, iv had my viper 90 for 4 months now and only flown a handful of times due to wanting to only wanting to fly in dead calm conditions, (poor landing techniques) as iv bent the gear a few times after porpoising on the Landings, Can I please share a link to where I can find detailed information or the files needed to move over ti crow mixing, I have get it ready with a 8ch RX 💥👌 hope you can help guys
Hello Jon. Hey thanks for another informative video. I am liking my 90mm Viper, it flies great. One thing I don't like is how huge the turning radius is - I can't turn this thing around on the two lane country road I fly on. Do you have any sage advice on the best way to tighten up the turn radius on this thing? I increased the travel on channel 4 to 130, but I don't know if that is the best way to handle this problem (servo damage?). Thanks again. Dale.
You won't damage the servos by maximizing travel. That only happens if they bind up on something that the pushrod hits. Try increasing rudder travel to 150% after unlocking the receiver and resetting it - otherwise it'll be stuck at 100% permanently. That's the only way to decrease the turn radius on the ground.
No idea offhand - sorry! We don't have this jet anymore. We might pick up another one in the future, but for now we sold it to make space in the hangar for additional aircraft. If the video didn't mention it, battery placement with a SMC 5300 6 cell was in the center of the middle strap.
amzn.to/3uvvVk3 and amzn.to/3SM7I2u should work. You may have to drill the wheel hubs to make them fit, but they'll reduce the pavement noise significantly and provide more grip.
My first edf choice without regret! Can you elaborate about the upgarde you did for the edf unit? how better is it? does it increase the thrust significantly? And do you have any idea if it's better than Freewing 1750KV?
FMS motors are generally better than Freewing ones - except for the new FW stuff which just dropped in their latest 80mm and 90mm jets. A friend of ours did the math a few years back and came to this conclusion: >Initial tests with the 1850kv 4068 EDF were 4.2kg of thrust at 119A on 6S. The 1950 apparently can only push 3800g on low timing, but will do 4100g on high timing at the cost of high amp draw.
Hi Jon. I fried the motor on my Viper 90 last week. I think I read somewhere that the stock motor’s timing needs to be changed to prevent these issues? Do you know what the timing on the stock motor needs to be? Also, what are the details of your power plant upgrade? Thanks!
@@TwoBrosRC Thanks Jon. Found the link. The motor/fan is out of stock at FMS at the moment, but in stock at RC Castle for a significantly higher price. We shall see……..
One question, which batteries are the best to use?!? I have a spektrum G2 6000mah 120c but i feel like it drops voltage fasttttttt whenever i go full throttle.
Great vid guys. Holiday edf searching. Found your channel. Sub’s. Would love to replicate your 90mm Viper. Starting from scratch re-entering hobby. I’d welcome any hook up for all in purchase.
I got mine for just shy of 300 bucks. one of the perks of being a part of a good club. old guys always looking to off load planes on the cheap. :) though this plane would be almost worth it at full price..... I say almost, as for some people this thing cost more than a weeks salary and no hunk of styro or balsa is worth that. at 650 and up these things stop being toys and start being a investment.
This is by far, my favorite plane to fly. I couldn't agree more with everything you've said about it.

I have one and have to agree, it’s a sweet jet, very nice to fly, easily my best EDF so far that is until my Blackhorse viper is complete.

Can you land the viper in safe mode. Is there still enough throw
On the elevator for the flair
You can, but we don't recommend it.
Where can I find the mix for the high alpha setting mentioned in the video and would this be a programmed flight mode in the Tx ?
It's linked in the description.
@@TwoBrosRC Oh okay TY ! Great Channel ! Love your stuff !
Metal inrunner? What is the reason for the upgraded fan and motor if you don't mind me asking?
More efficiency and thrust with some added weight. It's a solid tradeoff. The motor runs significantly cooler and doesn't pull as many amps either.
@@TwoBrosRC no kidding, so run times get a bit longer? Do you run the Smc 5500 or the bigger packs?
@redwineisfine We flew it with 5300 and 5800 packs and could have gotten 6 minute acro flights, had we not filmed so many high alpha passes.
Do you know some soft tires and wheels to replace the stock ones ?

Nice plane just never got into sports jets. Love the runway😂😂😂 What do you think about MKS servos bc that's all I use? What would recommend?
Hey, the runway is free. Can't argue with the price.
Yeah, we have 800ft padded and 2 grass fields. I kinda like grass but it always depends on the plane.
Are the servos you recommend still the best option? Thanks
For what we like to do, yeah. They're great.
Nice
Hi what is the slowest landing edf jet (70-90mm)? I have very short landing area 🙂
Any delta wing jet like the Rafale 80mm can be landed pretty slow for a jet: bit.ly/Rafale80
What is the preferred flight battery ? You using the 5200 mah or something bigger like 7000 mah 6s ?
We flew ours mostly on SMC 5300s and 4400s.
