Regret turning down an opportunity to pan with a co-worker when I was living in Montana. It really is fun seeing you pursue and enjoy what many of us only dream. I'll always be grateful for all you share. Thanks,. Beau.
My grandfather was a gold panner I went with him on several occasions during Summer vacations. The day that I remember the most was the day I saw all these little red pebbles in the sand , I asked him what they were he said "they'er just garnets they're not worth anything" , so I didn't collect them I wish I would have , now that I know what garnets are and more so , I would have had something from that particular day with him , the day I remember the most.Thank You for bringing back that memory for me today , I hope you get the amount of gold that you want on this adventure , God bless you and keep you safe Virginian.
Crevicing is the way to go. When I lived in Oregon, that's the only kind of prospecting I would do. It's a good feeling to find some color in places no one else ever bothered to check.
There's something very ritualistic and ancient about the panning method, like kneading dough, carving wood, or milling grains. Thanks for taking us along!
I learned to pan in Australia. I agree with you; nothing more relaxing than listening to the birds and gently running water and smelling the fresh air whilst sitting on the creek bank panning for gold :)
THANK YOU,,,for showing more then just metal detecting...You give a small lesson and I love it.I have learned so much watching you ..Dont get me wrong I LOVE METAL DETECTING but you give a little more and its the way you do it..You are a great teacher. Please dont stop brother...
Chigger, if you hold the pan with your left hand with the hole facing you and tap the front of the pan with your right hand the tapping will walk the gold to the front of the pan.
Gold fever!!! That sky is magnificent! The colors! It was fun to see the gold appear. I can see how you can get hooked on panning. Learned s lot. And thanks for putting up with those damned huge mosquitoes. I never saw you itch!
Enjoyable and entertaining how-to-do-it demo. There is no gold where I'm at but your technique and reasoning may be useful in other projects. Thanks for this and your other interesting videos.
Thanks for showing us all that gold panning is not that easy. You work very hard for the rewards you receive and that easily explains why there is such a high price attached to gold. Loved your video and thanks a million.............hopefully in GOLD.
Beau, thanks sooooooo much for your videos you post. From panning for gold, nature videos, metal detecting etc. Your an incredible you tuber. KEEP IT UP
I got gold fever. AGAIN. Love this kind of treshure hunting. I remember my first gold I found in my gold pan, I am very happy no one was near with a video camera, because I did the most crazy, Energetic. dance ,whopping and hollering I FOUND GOLD!!!
Dang, I don't think that I've seen bugs like that before. Looked like black flies, deer flies, tons of mosquitoes and heck knows what else. Thanks for your efforts!
That looks so much fun, but lord! The midges/mozzies/flies - you need one of those hats the Aussie prospectors have with all the hanging corks... much more fun than Deet. Love watching your videos, you are the thinking woman's MacGyvercrumpet - only more rugged(!). Does your wife ever go on adventures with you? Or are your adventures the reason you are still married? Thanks for all your care & enthusiasm, it is appreciated.
Chig ~ i mostly fish but still like your videos, but who doesn't like gold! My friend lives in Alaska and with enough DEET to turn my skin leathery i needed a headnet so i wouldn't breath them and to keep them out of my eyes and ears. Your a trooper as they were swarming you... find lots more shiney...AJ
Hello Chigg! Been wanting to check out your videos but, been SUPER busy in the shop. Heard allot about you, all good!! I'm good friends with the Flash In Your Pan crew.
Good information there buddy. Just wondering....the last time I was at that latitude I had issues with Deerflies. They left bites on me the took two months to go away. I was Canada on a bush country fishing trip. I wish I had my medical detector with me. Now I carry it with me everywhere. This Easter we are going to my Mother-in-laws. They live in the old fancy section of Lima, Ohio. The homes were built in the early 1900s. I can almost here the silver calling me.
Alaskan mosquitos are the worst... I went camping on a small lake in the middle of nowhere in the mountains of AK and it was INSANE. Just as many as chigg had if not more. Someone before us was kind enough to leave a couple mosquito masks behind that we didn't find until our 2nd day.. and oh man was that ever a godsend.
Thats what i thought last night your cap was covered ! I live in England and i cant go out in the garden they are massive here :( good to get out with you again though ! Thanks x
you were explaining about how the dirt could go behind the rocks (3:38 time stamp) and you ended up with a gold fleck on your finger. Not sure if you spotted it but thought it was interesting that you mentioned just moments before that the dirt might be worth panning.
This looks like alot more work than Aquachigging for Sunglasses Cell Phones and Pocket Knives! !!!!!! I hope that You hit the Motherlode Great Video Sincerely Thomas Raymond of Fresno California! !!!!!!
At time 14:10 , or so, you mentioned you were on a mining claim. Here in Ohio I don't think there would be any mining claims and there for I no little about how that works. Does want rent time on the land to prospect? Is it government land? I'm assuming there is a process going about that.
Do high bankers have to be a certain distance from the water source? I'm guessing the alluvial material going down stream creates a problem to some people.
Love your videos,is the camp still open?live in australia, visiting alaska next sept, keen to experience a camp or something similiar, any help ideas sincerely appreciated, thanks,Paul
Is there a relationship between permafrost depth and placer gold concentrations - particularly in Interior Alaska? One of my recent trips I found tons of garnets and one monster but no gold. So far I've found that here North of Fairbanks the areas with less permafrost and less garnets seem to bear the most gold (though I'm sure it's not the rule everywhere).
Watching all them skeetas I am instinctively running my hand in front the TV screen as if the skeetas are here? I even felt one bite me and I know that is not possible? I am in Louisiana we only think we have skeetas.
Great adventure wishing i was there to help,i was wondering what do you call a mosquito infused with aquachigger blood,a chiggsquito that can find you anywhere, thanks brother love what you do god bless
