It looks like damage of some kind. Like moisture that’s dried into a mark on the sensor. I haven’t seen a dust particle that big and caked on looking before.

No mechanical shutter meaning a lot of rolling shutter when photographing and filming something that's moving. Great specs, but no mechanical shutter makes it 10x worse.
Just there is a couple of cameras using the same sensor. Leica SL3, Sony A7RIV and Rv. I am using A7R4 and it is a very good hi-res camera. For about 2000 it packs a lot more than Sigma, better auto focus and loads of third party lenses.

Just picked one up last week after many hours of research. It’s insanely easy to use. The image quality is mental. Just wish it had mechanical shutter. You get some banding on occasion but it can be fixed by changing the settings. Not a big deal.
I hate the feel of the tiny cameras. When you can easily palm a basketball, the last thing you want is a camera that seems to be designed for a child's hands.
Id wish theyd make an even more compact version that isnt that thicc, so it can fit into every pocket with a pancake lens attached. Also ibis would be nice too
They could probably make it thinner... but it's not going to have the amount of features, or a full frame sensor, or it would just overheat. Adding IBIS is going to just make it thicker as well.
I hope is quality control is better than their lens. I had 2 17-50mm lens fail, and I tried 4 30mm 1.4s in the shop without finding one that focused properly. The shop told me that's about right for Sigma lens.
What you probably don’t know is Sony a9 and be there. $1400 or so nowadays. This and a few $400-700 used lenses and you are as pro on gear as 99% of pros have been throughout the history of photography. Nobody who follows this advice will complain, and that’s a 100% guarantee.
I'm a bit confused. How is it capturing 12bit 4k raw on a sensor that's higher than 8k resolution? Raw means the capture of sensor data. Is it recording cropped or skipping pixels?
You think an 8MP 12 bit raw video file has the 'same flexibility' as 61MP 12 bit raw stills? Might wanna think that through. The video on this sensor unfortunately isn't very good and is line skipped, even now so in this small body which can't handle the processing needed to supersample or shoot higher res. In fact, the only reason it shoots raw is it requires less processing than H.265 compression
All are saying dust on sensor. It's not dust for sure. I've got the same thing on my lens of Nikon P1000. I think it's from the inside in my case. But it's some kind of liquid that dried up. Doesn't matter unless you're clicking some tubelight. But still a spot is a spot.
The cropping demonstration looks as if you are cropping into about 10% of an image that at 100% is around 4mp. Perhaps this is due to the quality of the video(?)..
the fact that video is as editable as the photos isn't a good thing but actually a bad thing All major manufacturers use 14 bit raw photos (Unless medium format that goes for 16) but this camera does both photo and video in 12 bit raw, which is know as sRAW on most pro photo gear. The difference is noticable on highly saturated shots like concerts and festivals
@interestingvids-hx2sq I pi ked mine up used for about 2100usd but the kid dis throw in a few extra bits. It's my first and only camera that is not a nikon

Bro literally talked into an exposed sensor...
the flaw is no one is buying it, too limited for pro, too expensive for everyone else.
Actually it is used in professional settings, CDNG is insane in this small body.
And terrible battery life
Vmount battery solves this. @@_CRiT_hits_
It's actually used more and more as a drop cam for pro. Though if you're shooting video you want to use the FP (not L)
And no mechanical shutter if I remember correctly

yes brother, i was about to comment this

Jokes aside thats a nice ass camera
the camera is a true sigma
Oh man, cover that sensor. You’ll ruin the camera.

I wonder how this compares to the Sony A7CR
Inaccurate. Sony makes smaller FF cameras with no controls, for industrial use
The FP L is a great Camera…..but….the flash sync of 1/15 makes it useless for me
It's amazing how far sigma has come since for most of their early years, high quality and sigma were never in the same sentence.
Love that shot in Canmore, I take that shot every time I’m there
Their foveon sensors are the most unique things they make
Does it come with the booger on the sensor, or is that extra?
